Really good memories. Love this game. Tried wildstar last week, loved it but I had to come back to wow and just sat in westfall and listened to the music. This is my home. This is where my heart will always remain.
Do you know if that lady with the little orchard still lives at the very south western tip of West Fall? I remember I had a dwarf paladin and I was just exploring as many areas as I could at the time while getting some reputation with humans. I left Moonbrook and continued south towards the mountains, then I headed West to see if I could go around the mountains. There, I encountered a small land owned by a woman alone who had a serene home and a healthy orchard of fruit trees, as though the economic famine never reached her land. Later, when I was a much higher level, I got a class quest telling me I needed to go back and retrieve something from her, yet I wound up staying to help her defend the land from some bandits. Good times.
Magdat55 TheRetributor I know which lady you're talking about, I remember that defend quest as well back in The Burning Crusade times (If I remember it right, it was a Paladin quest), and I guess that lady is still there. Thanks for the idea, gotta check on that as soon as I renew my WoW subscription :D
Magdat55 TheRetributor Daphne Stilwell's farm is still well, as is Daphne, but the quest to defend her from waves of Defias bandit attacks was removed in Cataclysm. It was one of the earliest steps in a level 20 paladin quest chain that sent you into Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, the ogre area (originally they were elite) on the far side of Loch Modan, and the Blackfathom Deeps entrance cave (the Naga there were originally elite also) to retrieve four components of Verigan's Fist, a sweet 2H mace with fantastic stats for level 20, good enough to use for about the next 10 levels. You'd need a group to help kill elites and you'd be level 21 by the time you finished. And remember that nobody got a horse at 20 back then, so the trip to Shadowfang was difficult, especially on a PvP server where Horde players would camp the Shadowfang entrance. But it was definitely worth it. It was the most epic-feeling, most rewarding, most fun quest chain I've played in WoW to this day. I still have Verigan's Fist in the bank, and it's sad that the quest for it is no longer in the game.
Damn the nostalgia, running around with my 51 Level Tauren Warrior, which at the time was HIGH level, as there were very few 60 levels yet, looking for trouble in Sentinel Hill. Having low levels standing by looking, afraid to attack, than suddenly 5, 6 level 50s show up chasing me around, having few of my pals coming over to help me and VOILA, the battle is on. It was so mysteriously easy yet hard at the same time, hard by taking long time for everyone to gather, no flying mounts or anything like that. Travel from Kalimdor to Eastern Kingdoms was LONG way. Battle could go on for hours, when done and log off, I take a DEEP breath with ease and say. DAMN I really had fun and good time. Those days are gone. Haven't felt like that since BC, Wotlk had SMALL tear left to offer but IT also dried out. So, it's a wasteland, a long distant memory of how the world used to be, it's as if we were never there!
nice tell bro, similar things happend to me.. it was such a nice time but this is always the case with things in the past. They never return , only in our minds. whatever probs to you for reminding me :)
No, it's actually quite different from the original Westfall music. I love both versions, but this one is far different and far more moving (I do love the vanilla soundtrack the most as a whole, though).
Let me tell you, the music of Cataclysm was one of the best in the game. Even though at first I was wary of the changes in the world but the music was so beautiful and emotionally charged, and imho more melodic and fantastic than Vanilla music, which made me befriend the new world more easily.
I remember leveling in Westfall, it is and was by FAR my favorite place to level. I loved every single one of the quests, the music, and how it looked like. I miss it so much.
These are very beautiful. I'm glad that Blizzard has undergone the massive project of orchestrating and re-imagining the music of WoW. I cannot wait to hear the rest.
Westfall's and Elwynn's songs are probably two of the most memorable songs of WoW,one because my first character was a human,so these are two of my first of many memories of wow,and second, they just have a tendency to get stuck in your head.
well i listen and i catch some moments from old westfall soundtrack and i see myself 4 years younger when i started this game and still i cant abandon this god damn game CMON GUYS! ITS SO EPIC!
@jobhaha1 im right with you there man, i skipped out on school whenever i could in the first few weeks of my first character, westfall is still the most memorable zone for me, just for the music, absolutely beautiful.
This music really expresses the change that Westfall want, from and abandoned acreageFarmstead land, with its people fighting to preserve their ways against the Defias, only to turn into a even more broken shadow of its former glory, poor and homeless wonder the lands, denied help form Sentenile Hill, all the while, a mysterious forces, seeking vengence, slowly grows in power...
yeah, cause just running around killing bandits with a little bit of backstory is MILES ABOVE having an interesting investigation story with an interesting 3-dimentional villain working in the shadows to kill you and rally the poor of Stormwind into a rebellion that could end up tearing the kingdom apart! ...wait, what?
This music sums up the crushing depression and grinding poverty of Westfall perfectly. Especially when you quest there and realize that the Alliance poured all of its resources into the military for the campaigns in Northrend, leaving the people back home to rot and fester bitterness and the seeds of vengeance.
I love the new Westfall. A region haunted by the atrocities of the past, filled with the homeless and desperately poor, full of conspiracy and whisperings, rife with revolution and CSI Miami references. It's still the most exciting zone in the game.
I left WoW at the start of WoTLK and never played Cata despite having the CE of it. I've moved on to Tera Online now but WoW will always hold that #1 spot despite many former players turn haters hating on it because it's cool to. I suggest Tera Online to anyone leaving WoW and seeking a new game, it has some major glaring weaknesses like it's crafting but the gameplay is amazing and refreshing. Other than that, will it capture me like WoW did for years? dont know.
I didn't like the westfall before cata, idk why, but when someone told me about investigating the crime of old blanchy i said i have to go check this out... very nice quest chain, all quests were coming so beautifully together, but at one point i knew who was behind it. but the music along side the questing was just great, now i can say it's one of the best zones there is! I guess i was wrong in the first place probably.
Exactly. I think for me it was a mix of being quite young and playing my first mmo (not counting diablo 2) that made it so special. Also the fact that you had to figure out stuff yourself compared to now when you just look them up on the internet.
This music always reminds of CHANGES.... I played WoW since Vanilla and Westfall and all the other places in Azeroth were very interesting at the beginning and fun to travel to... in BC and WotLK the places stood all the same, nothing really changed (except +Outland and +Northrend). But now in Cataclysm, everything is different, and the music really REALLY fits into this whole system of change.. of MOVING ON.. I love it. All WoW is great not just BC or Vanilla or WotLK, its all great..
Nope, it has been there since vanilla, even i rememeber back in the days leveling there, best feeling ever, nothing can make me feel the same way as World of warcraft vanilla did and tbc
Around 0:53 is where it gets good. It makes the zone, in my opinion: The struggles of the people of Stormwind, and it's fight for survival in these troubled WoW times.
I just wish it would stay as social as it used to. You know, when you could turn on the PC and go back to your friends that weren't imaginary but were only online friends and made new ones.
actually I would argue quests are the means to deliver the story of a game which is the most important part, but if you don't like the gameplay I guess that would impede enjoyment of the story, so ya know, whatever floats your boat.
anyone remember the old westfall? without the tornado, and when we had old blancy, and the defias pillagers in moonbrook and the worst thing is that the deadmines were changed now theres a whole bunch of hobos in there some things shouldn't be changed westfall was one of them.
this really reminds me of oblivion :O best MMO+ best western RPG soundtracks= massive ownage I'm so rolling a human again just to appreciate this music
@espibanez oh i know, i cant wait until cataclysm, i want to make all news characters. Mainly because of the class changes, but also changes to the zones and quests/music... Stuff like this gets me really excited for cata :)
Remeber this. I had grinded some murlocs on the beach and at sunset i sat down with my party member and watched the sunset. We then talked and wonder what was other side of the great sea.
I like this new theme of Westfall, it's definitely an improvement on the old one. :) Btw: "westall is pretty depressing in cata lots of hobos sometimes they get into fights one tries to run away, the other KILLS THEM then orphans loot their body :(" It's a tough time they live in, they have to get by somehow.
I cant remember the pre-cata version of music here, but I had a great time questing around feeling like living in a real farm land in Autumn. I went back there after cata started. Everything changed...could barely recognize the place. But I love the music...it's just beautiful. I dont think it has changed much maybe a bit slower and darker?
@killguta Indeed! It sounds Jeremy Soulish at places! Guess that's why i like the Cata soundtrack better than all the others...also their use of the choirs has improved dramatically!
Cataclysm is like the better classic wow. Btw alot of people here play horde and think theyre better but they must egmit some of the alliance tunes are some of the greatest and most memorable
This song is what got me excited for Cata and then I quit 2 months later after I found out all the promises they made were bullshit. It was fun while it lasted WoW. March 05' - Feburary 11'
I remember running through this land as a horde back then so that I could run my fellow guildies through Deadmines. Now, Blizzard took that away from me, and much more. Blizzard, you better step it up in MoP.

@marshy920 Good. Means the music wasn't done the really lazy way on a computer somewhere and there's actual live people who are damn good to make such beautiful music. Unlike most, if not all, of the Titanic soundtrack that was just synthesized music.
Really good memories. Love this game. Tried wildstar last week, loved it but I had to come back to wow and just sat in westfall and listened to the music. This is my home. This is where my heart will always remain.

this soundtrack wasnt out until lvl 85 was max level.
+Máté Gautier (Chi) just a tad altered, it's pretty much the same tune!
google elysium....nostalrius
No, it's actually quite different from the original Westfall music. I love both versions, but this one is far different and far more moving (I do love the vanilla soundtrack the most as a whole, though).
damn it, that freaking ninja cutting onion again ...
WoW Soundtrack is the only music I generally cry to anymore. :'(
I remember when westfall wasn't destroyed #2005
Let me tell you, the music of Cataclysm was one of the best in the game. Even though at first I was wary of the changes in the world but the music was so beautiful and emotionally charged, and imho more melodic and fantastic than Vanilla music, which made me befriend the new world more easily.
You are right! Just listen to Arathi Highlands Stormgarde music or even Mount Hygal. It's marvelous! Shame the zone design isn't on the same level.
this is classic music
Ahh i remember those days....staying late up till the wee morning playing. God this game feels me up with so many memories...:(
why am I thinking of all my life now? damn that music
dont cry because its over, smile because it happened. i know exactly how you feel my brother. hopefully ESO will ignite some old feelings
Boy, did that not age well
I remember leveling in Westfall, it is and was by FAR my favorite place to level. I loved every single one of the quests, the music, and how it looked like. I miss it so much.
Listening to this motivates me to do something to improve the current situation.
These are very beautiful. I'm glad that Blizzard has undergone the massive project of orchestrating and re-imagining the music of WoW. I cannot wait to hear the rest.
It's almost like some powerful being blew powerful magic into the old music and changed it into a masterpiece we never knew it could be.
mud pie
Yum?
There is something bittersweet about this piece. A bit of the old and what's left of it, salvaged into a melancholic music.
One of my favorites locations. Still remember like in 2006 I was doing quests there.
dammit blanchy
The most saddest zone in World of Warcraft.
Westfall's and Elwynn's songs are probably two of the most memorable songs of WoW,one because my first character was a human,so these are two of my first of many memories of wow,and second, they just have a tendency to get stuck in your head.
Started playing a few weeks before TBC came out and quit a few weeks before Cata came out. Questing in Westfall for the first time was sooo much fun!
well

CMON GUYS! ITS SO EPIC!
Old Blancy, We will always miss you, even when another expansion comes out in about 5 years. RIP Every Ally's favorite horse.. we will all miss you.

Poor Farmer Furlbrow...Oh and Old Blanchy :
I got diagnosed with WoW, it's forever... A decenia spend in a second world. I don't play it anymore. but them good memories are so powerful xD.
This music sums up the crushing depression and grinding poverty of Westfall perfectly. Especially when you quest there and realize that the Alliance poured all of its resources into the military for the campaigns in Northrend, leaving the people back home to rot and fester bitterness and the seeds of vengeance.
Seeing Blanchy's corpse lying there on the floor as soon as I entered Westfall gave me a serious depression.
I love the new Westfall. A region haunted by the atrocities of the past, filled with the homeless and desperately poor, full of conspiracy and whisperings, rife with revolution and CSI Miami references. It's still the most exciting zone in the game.

The goosebumps kick in at about 0:55 and just don't let go til 1:50. Too epic for words.
These are beautiful re-orchestrations of the original themes. I for one am glad I won't have to hear the crappy original synthesized versions.
probably my most favourite wow soundtrack of all times.
They've been busy, ya know...all those LP's, arrows to the knee...and SWTOR.
this really reminds me of oblivion :O

You are so right ,my friend! Very sad. :(
This music is reflecting my live.
Westfall music makes u think of being alone.
Remeber this. I had grinded some murlocs on the beach and at sunset i sat down with my party member and watched the sunset. We then talked and wonder what was other side of the great sea.
my favorite of cataclysm
play this with minecraft and the graphics automatically increase by 1000

It's a tough time they live in, they have to get by somehow.
HOLY SHITBALLS, THE MUSIC IS EPIC ALL AROUND IN THIS ESPANSION
The harvest watcher quest was the most challenging quest IMO
This theme was played at Old Blanchy's funeral.
I cant remember the pre-cata version of music here, but I had a great time questing around feeling like living in a real farm land in Autumn. I went back there after cata started. Oh dear. I'm speechless.
Cataclysm is like the better classic wow.
Btw alot of people here play horde and think theyre better but they must egmit some of the alliance tunes are some of the greatest and most memorable
I could picture this in both Elwynn AND Westfall :D
This song is what got me excited for Cata and then I quit 2 months later after I found out all the promises they made were bullshit. It was fun while it lasted WoW. March 05' - Feburary 11'
Sentinel Hill was where me and my friend would start shit by ganking someone and letting the high levels come and man... we'd hold the town for hours.
this is beautiful.
I remember running through this land as a horde back then so that I could run my fellow guildies through Deadmines. Now, Blizzard took that away from me, and much more.
Blizzard, you better step it up in MoP.
@LiamSkimac yes, since a week before cataclysm, something is wrong with your sound settings
I miss old westfall.
Sounds like a sadder remix of the original... brings back memories. Don't really like the game itself anymore but the music is still amazing.
I love this whole song.:)
Especially 6:55-7:47 is EPIC!!

@Pyrofreak321 Ah, don't panic, it works now (the game was still downloading whilst I was playing, so the music must have been the last thing to dl)

New Westfall theme A.K.A. Requiem for Old Blanchy :'C
Well said, brother.
This music is from ELWYNN FOREST
Actually its it Westfall too post Cata
It plays in both areas, but the piece is made for Westfall, since that's what the track names are titled in the files.
Defias Pillager: "Huh!"
*Westfall explodes*
Kansas with coast line
this is so epic it's ridiculousness
Going to be sad to see the zones and music change :/
There was definitely a Golden Age to WoW and will probably be a long time until another game can elicit what this game did for so many people. I'm glad I got to be apart of it.
I'm surprised that music for PC game could be better than any music for movies!

THAT'S QUALITY MUSIC.
@DominikaSents odd, it's definately Elwynn's old tune in there.. wonder what the Elwynn tune is now.
Favorite zone pre and post cata
this music is so epic damn!!
Amazing.
