One very different element was the Syrians "Do or Die" approach. They took over 7 casualties for every 1 man still standing at the end and refused to surrender, seemed like they had some pretty fanatical motivation in this mission likely because it was a chemical weapons site. I imagine a lot of other missions they would have surrendered before much of the close in fighting was necessary but its clear here desperation is setting in
Never thought of flanking in behind the chem towers. When I played it I made an Armoured Thrust up the Highway with Arty suppressing the compound. Mortars and .50s worked on the trenches by the Highway before the army dismounted and cleared the remains. After that I breached the compound in multiple locations, had some vicious close range firefight. The toughest part for me was the building next to the chem towers, it was my last area to clear but the Syrians didn't want to give up.
This mission did feel like a bit of a filler in the campaign? As if it couldn't be as simple as running down the highway, but that *another* ambush / prepared defensible position on a geography feature would be too much. If they'd had some more scary ATGMs then it would have been a bit more concerning with all that open ground (indeed, that's what scared me most looking at the map). I also only had three Syrians left when time ran out in my game, and they *still* refused to surrender - I went straight up the centre to I think roughly the same outcome with regard to casualties and time.
It's Vin's Unit Icons: www.thefewgoodmen.com/cm-mod-warehouse/combat-mission-shock-force-2/cmsf2-other/vin-geometric-icons-cmsf2/ HQS I still can't find a link for, I'm afraid.
@@mimir4965 I think that if a human was playing as Syria, vs the AI, the human would win. Furthermore, if it was human vs human it would have been more difficult (provided the human was a good player).
So in general the challenge in CMSF2 is less from solving the tactical problem and more about solving the problem with minimal losses. The Syrians in the game are outmatched. Victory is almost certain. But at what cost? That is the question one is expected to answer.

On the plus side, I'm guessing it happened so fast he didn't feel a thing.

Very good series! Enjoying every moment. Thank you, and please keep them coming!
Thanks very much! I think there are still at least 3-4 missions still to go for this one
always incredible videos!
Thanks very much!
Great video as always man really enjoyed it
Oh hell yeah 🎉
The marine squads are nice because losing 4 guys wont criple your squad like the army ones
Can you please say, what mods are you using ? And maybe you have working link to the HQS 5.0 mod ?

HQS I still can't find a link for, I'm afraid.
Aren't those missions way too easy? Would you consider trying the mission from the Syrian side?
The British campaign is quite long and difficult. Syrians don't get a campaign
They're as easy as they would be IRL.

The Marine campaign is one of the easiest Combat Mission campaigns which isn't a bad thing. Many CM campaigns are a bit too difficult in my opinion.
