Even after that, he was referred to as "a man who succeeded the King in her affections." Funnily enough, Anne Boleyn's sister in law helped organise secret meetings between Katherine and Thomas. Katherine does seem to have had a difficult relationship with intimacy, though. Probably connected to her molestation at the age of 13 by a man almost thriple her own age at the time.
some facts about katherine howard: - she was beheaded when she was only around 18 or 19 (her exact birthdate is unkown) - henry mannox was most likely around 36, not 23 - she was anne boleyn's first cousin - she loved animals, especially dogs - she loved dancing and got lessons for it - she had a good sense of humor and was described as being 'giggly' - it's unknown whether her name is spelled with a C or K since it was written differently on many occasions, but evidence suggests it was *probably* with a C (but tbh just write it how you want) - the 'thomas' guy at the end (thomas culpeper) was her distant cousin - her mom died when she was 5 and her dad died when she was around 15 - the night before her execution, she reportedly spent hours practising how to lay her head on the block - during her execution she was pale and scared and needed assistance to get there - reportedly her last words were "i die a queen, but i would rather have died the wife of culpeper" (mostly folklore and there's no real evidence to support this, but still worth noting) - she was buried in an unmarked grave so no one really knows where she lies she won that competition for sure
lilliah Fredlund in class I learned about king Henry the 8ths six wives but there wasn’t enough details about the wives, the teacher put a song on TH-cam about it that gave some details.
I watched some documentary on the wives and they said she practiced how to lay her head on the block. Before she was killed, I can't remember what she said but she gave a small speech about who women shouldn't follow her example as she had failed god or something idk. I think the whole speech thing was really mature of her though
the choreography for all you wanna do was so cool. Each chorus the queens put their hands on her more and more till the last chorus where she was singing/sobbing and pushing the hands off. She also gets more tired/sloppy with the choreography as the song goes on. It was hella depressing but crazy cool.
Katherine Howard and Anne Boleyn were the saddest cases in British history. Anne was beheaded for having a redhead girl, and poor Katherine was probably abused and she was beheaded at the age of 19. Henry VIII was a complete psycho and I don’t know how Catherine Parr survived. Jane Seymour technically survived, too. Anne and Katherine were first cousins as well. I love our history here in Britain-it’s so interesting!
Lexie Foster Anne Boleyn was beheaded because she flirted with all the boys (like she said in don’t lose your head) but also because she couldn’t have a boy it doesn’t really matter wether the hair was ginger or not
Lexie Foster also Catherine Parr survived because Henry was ready to try and find someone to just look after him not give him an heir of England as Jane Seymour has a Son who would take over Henry (even though shortly after Edward became King he died as he was ill) Catherine Parr just helped Henry enjoy the rest of his life
Katherine was most definitely abused. I am no expert on Tudor history, but from what I’ve found, she was sexually assaulted and basically pimped our her whole life. There is a clip from a movie about it with her last moments and it is heartbreaking.
I think it emphasises the fact that she was so young for all of her life. I mean she died when she was like 18 so she was a child when most of this happened.
I think the whole idea is that both Ariana and Britney were overly sexualised from a very young age, which is why she looks like Ari and has a kind of of Britney and Ari sound, too. At least that's what I took from it haha.
This song is PERFECT for describing the life of Katherine Howard. She has always been my favorite. I feel such sympathy for her because none of it was really her fault. How could she possibly have known how to deal with all of this at her age? Had she just admitted to a precontract with either of these guys (Dereham OR Mannox), she would've been spared. Poor little angel! I am a student of Henry VIII and Tudor times, but I will say this: Henry VIII was a true pig for marrying her.
So Thomas was Katherine Howard’s cousin (who she has a fling with) Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard are first cousins Jane Seymour is their second cousin And after Henry VIII died Catherine Parr married Jane Seymour’s brother. I’m shook
Just imagine the conversation between Katherine and Anne... "So....you lost your head too?" "Yup. Surprising how England loves to chop off heads with axes. It's so uncomfortable...." "I got beheaded by a sword. Quick." "Lucky...."
I love everyone is here with their complicated theories and I'm just like did u guys know that the musical is called Six because Henry had Six wives. Literally shook
I think this guy is different!! I’m sure this time is different! I guess it’s not so different. I thought this time was different... Why’d I think he’d be different? It’s _never ever_ different.
Did anyone ever think that the breath after the kiss may symbolize her taking her last breath since the song does end with that breath and she was beheaded? Also, I’ve never seen this performed live, but I imagine during the final verses of “Playtime’s over” when the other girls are singing it, she’s being hauled off to get her head chopped off and she’s yelling for help and no one can help her because it’s already happened and they can’t change that. Then she begins singing again up until the final ‘mwah’.
@@avawasserman260 she was being manipulated to do things with people when she was as young as 13 he was 10 years older and Henry was 30 years older that is sick
@@maramarshall157 I know and I'm not saying that it isn't sick. However the 1400s was an Extremely different time and women were not treated the way they are now. The age of consent was not a thing and men and women would either die from disease or childbirth very early. Most would not make it to age 20. You have to remember that these events took place 400 years ago and no one can be absolutely sure of what happened
I found out about Six the musical a couple days ago. I love learning about history and the British royalty and remember learning about Henry's six wives. This is a really good musical, love it so far.
Kat Howard is honestly so tragic. She was a victim of sexual abuse. But she couldn’t escape it no matter where she went. That honestly hurts to realize, considering how much trauma is invalidated even now. Honestly, Kat Howard’s tale of abuse is one of many. But so few of them are truly told, set aside in favour of more “palatable” tales and making victims of abuse feel unrepresented.
I feel you, and some people are saying this was very common back then and acting like it wasn't a big deal, it is a big deal, even if pedophilia was more 'accepted' (inawayitwas, lookathegreeks) it's still a literal child involved in thing they shouldn't at that age. She really seems like a victim of sexual abuse and doing what she knows best, sex.
@@vitas5839 exactly, it seems so normal for her and at that age it shouldn't be that way.. She was just so young. You can really see that in the way she feels "chemistry" its such manipulation from much older men.
The thing that strikes me the most is how she starts with the idea that it's how people show love. So many girls even now feel like older guys really love them when they're just being groomed.
Omg I just realized something, if you dont know during the part I Dont Need Your Love. Katherine made a point to the group that they all compared themselves to Henry, as one of his six wives. And since she compared her whole life and then Henry, making she was just trying to prove a point about how they shouldn’t compare to themselves for just being wives and just compare how their life was in general before and after meeting Henry.
The thing about this that makes me the most upset is that she just wanted a friend. She wanted no more chemistry and she didn't want to be used as a "plaything" anymore. the "mwah exhale" is getting more sloppy progressing the song. I believe it's going from a sigh that's streotypical i Am In LoVe thing to I'm tired of this. It's so sad. I CAN'T SHES SUCH A MUFFIN I WANNA GIVE HER A HUG
When they arrested her she broke free from the guards and ran down the hall screaming that she is innocent and crying before they grabbed her again. They say her ghost still roams around this hall trying to convince them of her innocence. Only 18/19 years old.
This song is truly a work of art. I have barely hear songs where it starts off one way and then gradually gets darker as the song progresses. Brand new favorite song!
When Howard did high pitched note when she sang the last playtimes over at the end it made me realize that sounded like what someone would scream if they were getting beheaded!😳
Ah I do love the touch of changing the chorus to reflect her feelings about the dude she’s with. It goes from being super excited and into it to really not and tired of it. Please to seize and so on, I do so enjoy that
Get ready for a long as comment: Mannox: “ Tell me what you need, what you want you don’t need to plead, cause I feel the chemistry like I get you and you get me. And maybe this is it, he just cares so much it feels legit, we have a connect, I think this guy is different. ” she was younger it was her first time fooling around and she believed it was special. Believing what he told her about the connection Dereham: “ you say I’m all you need, all you want. You don’t need to plead cause I feel the chemistry like I get you and you get me. And I know this is it. He just cares so much, this ones legit. We have a real connection. I’m sure this time is different.” Mannox and her didn’t work out and she still has hope she’ll find a guy who cares, convincing herself this time with Dereham, it’ll be different. *doesn’t work out so she takes a break. * Henry the 8th - “ you say I’m all you need, all you want, we both agree. This is the place for me. I’m finally where I’m meant to be. Then he starts saying all this stuff... he just cares so much, he calls me love. He says we have this connection, I guess it’s not so different . “ she doesn’t feel anything with him, that’s why she didn’t say the “I feel the chemistry” line, she’s tired of hearing the same thing, she’s lost hope. She sounds hopeless, not pleased, uncomfortable when she says “ he starts saying all this stuff “ bc she’s heard it before and she knows it’s not true and you can tell she’s affected by it. *^ they got married and she doesn’t really like him, hence the emotionless whoo* Thomas - “ this guy finally is what I want. The friend I need. Just mates no chemistry. I get him and he gets me.” She finds it refreshing that he wasn’t telling her that they had something special and that’s what she wanted to hear. “And there’s nothing more to it. He just cares so much, he’s devoted. He says we have a connection... I thought this time was different. Why did I think he’d be different. But it’s never ever different” he tells her they have something special like the others and she’s scolding herself for getting involved and thinking things would change.
Said by Deva from Musical Hell, the song starts out like a “I’m better then the other girls” to a teenage girl sexual exploitation fantasy and it reminiscent to Britney Spears pop album adding more of a disturbances
I love the way they worded everything to show how young/naive she was. Like she never specifically says anything sexual that happened and using simple words and using playtime and enoughsies
Nobody: Not a single soul: TIK TOK: *LETS JUST STEAL THIS SO PEOPLE SHOW THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER WITHOUT HEARING THE WHOLE SONG AND WHAT ITS ABOUT* 3:16
What really got me about Catherine's story is that the night before her execution she asked for the block to be placed in her cell so she could "practice" lying her head on it. She was doing the best she could to be ready for her execution and she was only 18 or19! So sad... groomed, exploited, and used all her short life :(
Yeah, she was beheaded cause she cheated on Henry and if i remember well it's Henry Manox who find the proof to accuse her. And all of her lover were executed too (i studying the history of England right now)
Daniel Acedilla i don’t remember very well why he did it (maybe it was to save his life) and i’m not sure Mannox was kill (i will consult my note tomorrow just to be sure) but i am certain that Henry execute Dereham and Thomas Culpeper (she was having a supposing pre-contract with Dereham and it was consider like a mariage back then)
Im i the only one who cant get the siong off repeat?? I felt this on an emotional level..its sad to say at least a good 80% of women expirence one of those situations. 😭😭😭i cant stop crying and singing..it makes me conflicted about my feelings bc its so catchy but its so horidly sad😥
Katherine says "this guy might be different" for the first man described using her, her music teacher (1:25) could this allude to someone previously in her life sexually abusing her, such as her father, is probably the most likely as she was still a child (13)
I'M CRYING THE SINGER IS TOO TALENTED I REALLY CAN'T SING THE EXACT SAME THING WHEN SHE SINGS “And I was THIRTEEN going on 30” LIKE HER VOICE THERE IS JUST AMAZING
The repetition of "playtime's over" really gets me, because she was r*ped by multiple men starting when she was 13 and continuing until she was killed at 19. For her, playtime was over, because they took what remained of her childhood, then Henry took what remained of her life.
"We spent hours strumming the lute Striking the chords and blowing the flute He plucked my strings all the way to G Went from major to minor, C to D." *_alright girl, damn._*
my goodness this song is phenomenal i'm not sure whether to get up and dance, cry uncontrollably, or smash something out of rage towards these dudes...or all 3 at the same time
Broad, dark, mannox. Taught me all about dynamics. He was 36 and I was 13, perfect mix. This would have been a better lyric since he was actually 36 and not 23! And it says “perfect mix” because she ‘loved’ him, (Ew, she’s a child!).
Something I just started to notice. She thought her life was so normal. And as it went on K. Howard started to realize that it wasn't normal. That it was actually kind of fucked up. And at the very end she finally comes to terms with the trauma. It's actually common for trauma to take a while to manifest. And it can hit you like a bus once it comes to. That actually happened to me. It took me nearly 4 years to realize something traumatic happened. And that's kind of what happened here. It hit her all at once. In that one moment. I feel for her.
In a different musical I might agree, but I think the title they have is smart. I see it as a reference to the fact that everyone is so focused on her body, not her feelings.

- it's unknown whether her name is spelled with a C or K since it was written differently on many occasions, but evidence suggests it was *probably* with a C (but tbh just write it how you want)
- the 'thomas' guy at the end (thomas culpeper) was her distant cousin
- her mom died when she was 5 and her dad died when she was around 15
- the night before her execution, she reportedly spent hours practising how to lay her head on the block
- during her execution she was pale and scared and needed assistance to get there
- reportedly her last words were "i die a queen, but i would rather have died the wife of culpeper" (mostly folklore and there's no real evidence to support this, but still worth noting)
- she was buried in an unmarked grave so no one really knows where she lies
she won that competition for sure
r o s e That second to last fact breaks my heart.
Thank you
can you please stop copying and pasting this on every all you wanan do video-
lilliah Fredlund in class I learned about king Henry the 8ths six wives but there wasn’t enough details about the wives, the teacher put a song on TH-cam about it that gave some details.
If only I can see it but I can't watch it anywhere!😫

British history has a few too many genocides to say this is the saddest thing to happen

Sounds like shit I said as a kid. Don’t like thst
Even just looking at her look/outfit, it's like more childish? This is really sad, she was just a kid.
I think it emphasises the fact that she was so young for all of her life. I mean she died when she was like 18 so she was a child when most of this happened.
She got beheaded at the age of 19 so when she sang that song she was still a child, so
I know K Howard is supposed to be inspired by Ariana Grande but her song reminds me a lot of Britney's If U Seek Amy. | edit: #FreeBritney
She’s inspired by both actually so that’s why
She's meant to be a mix of both of them
IKR
I think the whole idea is that both Ariana and Britney were overly sexualised from a very young age, which is why she looks like Ari and has a kind of of Britney and Ari sound, too. At least that's what I took from it haha.
Can anyone tell me the inspiration for the others?
IVE LISTENED TO THIS SONG ENOUGHSIE TIMES TO KNOW ITS A BOP
I have heard this song twice and... I can confirm it's a bop. A dspressing bop, but a bop nonetheless
USCAN14
Nah, Henry was just as bad. He married her when she was around 18 years old. That’s disgusting
So
Thomas was Katherine Howard’s cousin (who she has a fling with)
Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard are first cousins
Jane Seymour is their second cousin
And after Henry VIII died Catherine Parr married Jane Seymour’s brother.
I’m shook
WOW just...wow
So the two that got beheaded were related? Damn, that's kinda cool
Just imagine the conversation between Katherine and Anne...
"So....you lost your head too?"
"Yup. Surprising how England loves to chop off heads with axes. It's so uncomfortable...."
"I got beheaded by a sword. Quick."
"Lucky...."
And don’t forget! Henry’s mistress when he was with Catherine of Aragon was Anne’s sister, Mary. There was very little diversity in court.
This is why we don't go deep into history .w .
I love everyone is here with their complicated theories and I'm just like did u guys know that the musical is called Six because Henry had Six wives. Literally shook

Yes, I feel the same way. I wanna dance to it, but at the same time, I feel sorry for poor Katherine.
The beheaded duo is my favorite
Sofi ARMY omg I know right, what a deathly duo ;)
Did anyone ever think that the breath after the kiss may symbolize her taking her last breath since the song does end with that breath and she was beheaded?
Also, I’ve never seen this performed live, but I imagine during the final verses of “Playtime’s over” when the other girls are singing it, she’s being hauled off to get her head chopped off and she’s yelling for help and no one can help her because it’s already happened and they can’t change that. Then she begins singing again up until the final ‘mwah’.

Back in the day of king Henry the 8th, girls would get married very young because of the short life spans in the 1400s
All i learnt in class was ‘divorced beheaded died. Divorced beheaded survived’ but damn this musical teaches you so much and the lyrics are so clever
I love the 2000s vibe to this song!!!
All the the little things pointing at how young she was, kinda hurts

Ah yes, All You Wanna Do, the song of sexual innuendoes and sadness
I always thought the one who survived was hilarious with her accent being totally different from the others 😂😂😂
I literally lost my head~Boleyn
"i guess he really liked my head"
When they arrested her she broke free from the guards and ran down the hall screaming that she is innocent and crying before they grabbed her again. They say her ghost still roams around this hall trying to convince them of her innocence. Only 18/19 years old.
Oh yea I heard about it she walks round shouting she's innocent.... So sad :(
If I ever visit that gallery when she's there, I'm going to say, "I believe you."
I can't stop replaying this,it's so good...
Ah I do love the touch of changing the chorus to reflect her feelings about the dude she’s with. It goes from being super excited and into it to really not and tired of it. Please to seize and so on, I do so enjoy that
Get ready for a long as comment:
Mannox: “ Tell me what you need, what you want you don’t need to plead, cause I feel the chemistry like I get you and you get me. And maybe this is it, he just cares so much it feels legit, we have a connect, I think this guy is different. ” she was younger it was her first time fooling around and she believed it was special. Believing what he told her about the connection
Dereham: “ you say I’m all you need, all you want.
Henry the 8th - “ you say I’m all you need, all you want, we both agree.
*^ they got married and she doesn’t really like him, hence the emotionless whoo*
Thomas - “ this guy finally is what I want.

This song is so sad
Said by Deva from Musical Hell, the song starts out like a “I’m better then the other girls” to a teenage girl sexual exploitation fantasy and it reminiscent to Britney Spears pop album adding more of a disturbances

What really got me about Catherine's story is that the night before her execution she asked for the block to be placed in her cell so she could "practice" lying her head on it. She was doing the best she could to be ready for her execution and she was only 18 or19! So sad... groomed, exploited, and used all her short life :(

the childish terms and words used in this song really shows how you she young she was when everything happened to her.
Katherine says "this guy might be different" for the first man described using her, her music teacher (1:25) could this allude to someone previously in her life sexually abusing her, such as her father, is probably the most likely as she was still a child (13)
I always thought she was referencing the puppy love in all the boys' eyes compared to the lust in the music teacher's.

The repetition of "playtime's over" really gets me, because she was r*ped by multiple men starting when she was 13 and continuing until she was killed at 19. For her, playtime was over, because they took what remained of her childhood, then Henry took what remained of her life.

Holy shit this is a heavy song.
