    What a surprise 😅
Portuguese speaker here, really don't know how to simply explain how to differentiate spanish from portuguese... Maybe one simply way is, if you hear someone saying "Obrigado" instead of "Gracias" when thanking someone, then that person is speaking portuguese.
Ana Carolina first album was released in 1999 if I'm not mistaken, Seu Jorge also "debuted" in the late 90s. They are really famous in Brazil, and released a project together in 2003 (the video you guys watched is from this project).
This song is the brazilian version of The Blower's Daughter from Damien Rice (that's the only song I know from him). Both versions have slightly different lyrics (directly translating it to portuguese wouldn't work). The translated brazilian lyrics goes like this:
    That's it
Just like we thought it would be
Life is so simple and good
    Almost always
    That's it
    Footsteps go through the streets
    Nobody noticed the moon
    Life always goes on
I don't know how to stop looking at you (2x)
I won't stop looking at you
I don't get tired of looking
I don't know how to stop
    Looking at you
    That's it
There are those who believe in miracles
There are those who commit evil deeds
There are those who don't know how to tell the truth
    That's it
    A flower seller
Teaches his children to choose their loves
I don't know how to stop looking at you (2x)
I won't stop looking at you
I don't get tired of looking
I won't stop looking at you
    That's it
There are those who believe in miracles
There are those who commit evil deeds
There are those who don't know how to tell the truth
    That's it, yeah
    A flower seller
Teaches his children to choose their loves
And I don't know how to stop looking at you
I don't know how to stop looking at you look
I won't stop looking at you
I never get tired of looking
I won't stop looking at you
Once again, thanks for the great surprise.

It was a surprise to us too 🤣 I appreciate the info on the two of them. Sometimes a random suggestion can lead to a cool song and new artists to get to know.
Thanks for the lyrics and checking out our videos and leaving comments. Talking with people and learning about the artists we stumble across is one of the main reasons we keep doing the channel

The similarity between the idioms it's just lack of familiarity. If you get used to listen Portuguese, it's really easy to tell the difference!
The words may be similar, but the sound is distinct :)

The best way to differentiate between portuguese and spanish is usually by using the ears and hearing, but if yall find any other way, let me know.

Guys, it's simple, Brazil is the only country in Latin America where the language is Portuguese. All the other countries in Latin America - Argentina, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, etc... the language is Spanish.

React to Elis Regina - Como Os Nossos Pais (like our parents). Elis is another legend of brazilian music, she was very successful in the 70s and her songs are still played today, this one in particular is a song that was immortalized in her voice and was performed during the period of military dictatorship in Brazil, where many artists were censored.

If it sounds like a blend of Italian and French, it's Brazilian Portuguese.
If like Russian, it's European Portuguese.
    If like Spanish, it's Spanish.
    As simple as that.

If it's text, the easiest way to distinguish between spanish and Portuguese is to look for the letter "y". If you spot a single Y that isn't in someone's name than you can be 100% sure it's not Portuguese.

Hi, guys! I'll explain to you some things that seem to be of interest to you. In South America, the vast majority speak Spanish. Guyana speaks English. French Guiana speaks several dialects but the official language is French and Suriname, formerly known as Dutch Guiana before its independence speaks Dutch. The only country in South America that speaks Portuguese is Brazil. Why? Because it was Portugal who discovered Brazil, so we speak Portuguese. Spanish is a language a bit similar to Portuguese. You can understand some words if the person speaks slowly.

@ Another piece of information that might be useful is that most Brazilians don't like it when people who aren't Brazilian think that Brazilians speak Spanish. However, I understand that it's due to ignorance. I don't know if you're American, Canadian or from another country, but I know, from what I've heard from many Americans on the internet, that education in the United States is very focused on the United States. That's why Americans don't know much about the geography and history of other countrie

Brazilian Portuguese sounds more melodic and open, while European Portuguese is sharper and more clipped-kind of like American vs. British English! And Spanish? More rhythmic and direct!
By the way, Seu Jorge is in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou-great movie with an amazing cast, including Bill Murray!
Guys, great reaction! This is gonna blow your mind and get you tons of views-search for 'Lucas Inutilismo em uma música' and pick any from 2020 to 2023. Totally worth it!
