白花蛇舌草是山草藥的一種，因葉形似蛇舌而得名。其近親水線草，葉形較蛇舌草的短，盛產於廣東一帶。前者的花多單個生長，而後者的花一般以2至5朵排列生長。兩者皆有清熱解毒之用，蛇舌草的藥效較強。於田中採摘蛇舌草後，洗淨並用水煮約十分鐘，即可製成袪濕涼茶服用。
Hedyotis diffusa is a heat-tolerant and easy-to-grow herb that grows well alongside fields, it is easily recognizable by the blossoming tiny white flowers through the pointy and thin leaves. In this episode, farmer Monkey Yip introduces hedyotis diffusa and its relative hedyotis corymbosa, so that public could learn how to choose seasonal crops for each month.

White flower snake-tongue grass (hedyotis diffusa) is a herb in traditional Chinese medicine and named for its snake tongue-liked shape. Its relative, hedyotis corymbosa, has a smaller leaf shape and grows abundantly in Guangdong. The former’s flower usually grows singly, while the latter has 2 to 5 inflorescences attached on each stalk. Though both carry the health benefit of clearing body dampness and detoxifying, hedyotis diffusa has a stronger medical effect. After picking the herb from fields, wash it thoroughly and boil it in water for about 10 minutes to make herbal tea.
