Saturday night, I thought, “Frost’s days at Nebraska are numbered.” I didn’t think they would be THAT numbered, even after this loss. I thought they would have waited until his buyout dropped October 1.
Scott Frost not succeeding at Nebraska is a real stunner to me. At the time, it seemed like an absolutely perfect hire. Coming off a 13-0 season at UCF where he was loved by his players, hottest name out on the coaching market, and a Nebraska legend who is from Lincoln coming home to coach NU, it seemed like there was NO WAY that this wasn't going to work. Still trying to wrap my head around how this failed so badly.
Felt pretty obvious to me from the start he wouldn't succeed although did not think it would be this bad. What people fail to realize is that UCF recruits far better than anyone in their conference. Frost was never out coaching anyone there. At Nebraska he was now facing teams with better talent and/or better understanding of the region and scouting. Plus Nebraska has never really been built for the Big Ten style of football. People need to realize though that succeeding at non-power 5 programs does not necessarily mean you were winning with lesser talent.

It not as bad as you think it is. The problem with Frost can be summed up in two words: Joe Burrow. This kid was gift wrapped for you, and Frost shooed him away. The UCF team was built by George O'leary, and Frost merely shuffled the deck chairs and got that high level of talent to a 12-0 season. It only looks like a miracle until you realize they beat a power 5 conference champ in a major bowl game 4 years prior. Just get a decent coach this time, and you won't be singing the blues for long. Reading these comments as a UAB Blazer today. GA Southern you should be proud, but we won't quit. UAB's BYU (ranked #13) bowl victory last year and now us moving to AAC finally told the world we are relentless. The program was pulled by The University of Alabama trustees, yet our coach stayed without pay to rebuild and fight to get the program back. Now we have conference championship wins, bowl victories, NFL drafts (a UAB defensive back is first string on the rams and has a Superbowl ring now), and a beautiful new stadium. That is an overcomer movie worthy story.

Last year Nebraska lost a lot of really close games. Their record didn't reflect their talent. I have confidence they will turn things around by the end of the season, and will look like a solid program. I think firing Frost mid season was a mistake.
Frost takes the paid for vacation. As a fan of the Big Ten I would only pick Nebraska over a couple of Big Ten teams. And it's been that way since they came into the Big Ten. All the coaching changes have made little difference. There's something wrong with the program. Nebraska should be competing for Big Ten titles.
