I used to have a cat and she sadly passed away a year and a half ago. 😢 Having a pet, even as low-maintenance as a cat is a BIG commitment. They need companionship and it does affect your ability to travel. Especially if you don’t like to board your pets. So now you are putting that responsibility on other people who didn’t choose to get a pet. If you can afford a pet sitter, then that’s great. But if you are going to get a pet and you want to have family or friends pet sit, you need to get their permission beforehand or just budget for a pet sitter. Also, grooming visits, vet visits, cleaning up after them are other things you need to put in your schedule and if you are already pressed for time then wait until you can fit that into your schedule. I miss my cat SO MUCH, but after cleaning a litter box for 12 years and sanitizing the laundry room floor, I am glad to not have that on my plate anymore.
