As a latino those frogs have some heavy heavy symbolism. Conquistadors vs indigenous people. This shit still goes on to this day. Guatemala had a genocide that happened under U.S backed regimes up until the 70's. In the 40s The United Fruit Company got pissed that the president of Guatemala at the time was enforcing land reform (they profited off of farm slave labor taking land from people in exchange for infrastructure). So they came to the U.S, told Eisenhower "hey we think their presidents a commie" and set up a coup installing a U.S backed dictatorship stretching out for wayyy too long. So basically white folks kill indigenous people a lot
When I show people The Holy Mountain they tend to have one of two reactions; they either have no idea what's going on and get frustrated and hate it, or they have no idea what's going on and they love it more than anything in the world.
Have you seen it? It is hard not having feelings about the movie after a couple of viewings, :D I used to show this to my girlfriends on my first dates before I grew up

The General (1926) - It'd be cool to get a silent film in there. The Apartment (1960) - Somewhat overlooked great b&w movie Sunset Boulevard (1950) - Another great old movie The Boxer's Omen (1983) - You think House (1977) was crazy? You ain't seen nothing yet. This is the most ridiculous goddamn movie I've ever seen. I've seen it twice and I'm still not entirely sure what it's about. Gettysburg (1993) - Might make for interesting discussion, and it's one of the last truly epic war movies to use thousands of real extras. Satantango - To let Adam give Bela Tarr another chance. Babe (1995) - It might be my nostalgia but I recently rewatched this and it's seriously one of the best family films ever made. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975): This movie is just great and the ending makes me cry every time. Bad Movies: Stealth (2005) - If you know anything about military aircraft, this movie is so bad it's good in terms of its sheer stupidity. Freddy Got Fingered (2001) - Because why the fuck not? Son of The Mask (2005) - Because why the fuck not? Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (1977) - Because why the fuck not? The Fred Movie Trilogy (2010-2012) - They could get Lucas Cruikshank as a guest and discuss these movies with him. He thinks they're terrible, so he'd have a good laugh about it. The Smosh Movie (2014) - Similar to the Fred movies, they could get Anthony Padilla or and have a good laugh. Dinosaur (2000) - A very random choice, I'm just nostalgic for it and curious to see what they'd think. The Worst Movie Ever! (2011): Does it truly deserve the title?! Mobsters and Mormons (2005): This movie is pretty silly but it has a lot of heart.

Adjusted for inflation the Holy Mountain's budget was ~4.8 million 2018 US dollars. Still a small amount for a movie but much larger than $750k makes it seem.

I think Ralph is not totally off about youtube pushing/favoring more marketable content. Google has been trying to turn this platform profitable for a while now and there is a pretty compelling theory that it wasnt idubbz but youtube, quietly and behind the scenes, that killed off leafy. If it happened once you know its happened again.
I don’t know if you guys actually read TH-cam comments, but news just came out that James Gunn was never fired, and Disney only said that publicly to make sure the Disney-Fox deal went smoothly. He is now back on track to direct GOTG Vol. 3.
Audience does have control (a voice) in art. It's up to an artist whether they produce something for themselves or for audiences or some mix. In a vacuum of personal wants, it doesn't matter outside voices. In a commercial space, someone is seeking money for the effort and often will tailor some part of the product to listening to feedback (beforehand or after). So maybe audiences ask for too much or something not palatable to particular artists. Maybe audiences ask for just the right amount. Either can ignore the other in the long run.

I always have to watch as soon as these are uploaded so I can see Adam's intro
Adam, Ralph, and Alex combined are a force of goodness in our dismal universe.
At 29:10, as soon as Adam said “speaking of bullshit” I got an ad. What great timing
Its really cute how shy and humble Ralph is when hes talking about his movie :3
It'y my bday and The Holy Mountain is mny 2nd favorite movie . Thank you.
I'm so happy for your movie ralph! I wish you the best of luck with your future films
When Adam said “speaking of bullshit” at around 29:10 an ad played lmao perfect timing
I'm so glad that someone is talking about the Kevin Hart tweet/oscar subject. Think this podcast said it best.
29:08 - “Speaking of bullshit”
*cuts to ad*
That must have been deliberate. Especially as it was a Marvel Runaways ad
Perfect birthday present. Thanks, guys!
I think this was the best episode till now. Well done guys. 👍
I remember the Discovery commerial Adam! *is it because I am Canadian*
Same here. Is this just a Canadian thing?
I think Ralph is not totally off about youtube pushing/favoring more marketable content. Google has been trying to turn this platform profitable for a while now and there is a pretty compelling theory that it wasnt idubbz but youtube, quietly and behind the scenes, that killed off leafy. If it happened once you know its happened again.
I don’t know if you guys actually read TH-cam comments, but news just came out that James Gunn was never fired, and Disney only said that publicly to make sure the Disney-Fox deal went smoothly. He is now back on track to direct GOTG Vol. 3.
"GIVE YOUR CLITORIS TO THE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!" ZOOM BACK CAMERA!
Form the moment negan is introduced the show is actually awesome because his actor carries the show SUPER hard. Every scene with him in it is gold.
29:09 *aquaman ad plays*
BOI the red tower in the holy mountain was a monument made just to recognize the Ciudad Satélite in Meméxico
Amadeus is fucking great! I can't wait for their discussion.
Yay you guys answered my question!
