The time signatures aren’t that odd so once you listen to the song enough it’s pretty easy to get down. I can play a decent cover of it and I barely play drums, I’m just a guitarist. Not to say that the drummer isn’t good because he’s actually insane just this song isn’t the greatest example.
This song and my life are exactly the same: 0:00 Takes a while to get going in the morning, 0:09 erupts into frantic, off-kilter confusion immediately, 0:34 falls into various self-defeating patterns which contradict their own rhythm while trying to maintain forward motion, 1:29 takes a pause halfway through to try to fuse confused neurosis into a basis for something remotely pleasant to anyone and fails 2:22 gives up completely and has breakdown, 2:31 tries to keep calm during breakdown, 2:40 fails... 3:00 Tries to start back up but erratic thoughts unravel and mutate in spite of the need to continue existing properly, 3:25 tries to keep calm during arrhythmic chaos again, 3:46 takes another break to devise own rhythm based on nothing measurable by human standards, 4:01 then grooves with it, suddenly quite content with self after realizing not every song is a top 40 hit, 4:32 while riding off into the sunset, knowing only about 10 people ever understood me or would ever want to listen to me again.
That riffy section at 1:29 is fucking unbelievable. It just sounds like it's melting. I'm not entirely convinced it isn't just the same chord played repeatedly while being pitch shifted.
They're playing notes that are located between the twelve ones we are used to. That's why you have that "out of tune" or melting feeling. I love how it feels haha
I saw The Locust play and people tried to start moshing and hardcore dancing and then they were like "what the fuck is going on?!" And literally everyone just stopped and started watching the show... Side note: Dillinger headlined that night... sickest show I ever seent.

The Meta album, for me, is like Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve but for this decade. If Meshuggah had continued on that wave they started in 1995, this would have been the result! Happy to have found this album.

They have regular jobs (all members are involved in STEM jobs). They can't manage full time, but on the brighter side, this gives them freedom to experiment as much as they want. Also, these guys build their own gears from scratch.

The mix on this album is amazing. Sounds great with a beefy sub and reasonably good component speakers. Nothing is muddy, everything sounds tight and precise, incredible tone and ofcourse those unmistakable lyrics.
0:54 and 2:22 .. it always takes me so long to listen to one of y'all's songs because I keep having to rewind while trying to keep my face from melting..
I always tell people Carbomb is the best band they've never heard of. Which is a shame because these guys should get WAY more recognition than they currently do.
