Question for the electrical experts.... 14:18 The vault by the building is the existing Supercharger power vault. Of course, they have likely temporarily rerouted power to the Superchargers. @@DavidJohnson-tv2nn10:49 - Good catch! 14:18 Isn't that vault also the main incoming temporary feed? The superchargers are likely about 8MVA total, so it is about half of a single circuit in terms of capacity. I'm a little unclear on what happened to the added conduits to North Casting though; the work we have seen over the past few months doesn't seem 100% conclusive to me. I would have expected one set of circuits to enter there, and the other set to enter from the temporary feed location. I would guess that unless Tesla is switching to electric furnaces the temporary substation is good for about 80% of eventual load in the main building. The additional buildings are what will add significant demand. I am really curious what they will do for power on the west side though.
@@patrickkenny2077 Thanks. Almost no one flies directly over this vault. So when Brad got it this time, I paused the video to take a close look. Thanks Brad! I will try to post a link separately to one of Jeff's earlier videos showing the vaults. Though TH-cam often deletes comments with links. Which is why I will post it separately :) North casting.... From what I've observed, one duct-bank splits at the vault to enter the building on the northside, and then goes around to the eastside. The other duct-bank is diverted at the second vault to go around to the eastside. No northside branch. Those conduits were cut and capped. However, the most recent observation as of a few days ago shows only 4 out of the 8 conduits filled so far, and no cables going to the north side of the building. All 8 of those conduits remain empty. So, maybe future expansion? Or maybe just more work to do? The other vault and duct-bank are completely empty. I'm assuming they just haven't gotten around to filling those conduits yet. The reason I'm interested in the vaults here @ 14:18 is how they connect power from the new substation to the building. One way is to run a parallel path to the existing duct-banks into the building. The second way is to intercept the existing main power duct-banks. Which is where it gets interesting. I'm assuming they can not do the work while they are energized? So, I was wondering if they could temporarily route power to the building through the Supercharger vault? In any case, the vaults here and on the northside are something to watch.

@@DavidJohnson-tv2nn Normally I would expect each of the primary feeds to be cut over one by one to the permanent service; they knew the permanent substation was coming so usually you would plan out the cutover. The Supercharger/Site Utilities feed would likely be a little tricky to use for backfeed/cutover. It might actually be that they want to cut the superchargers over first though, and that is the easiest place to do it from.
