heart of a champion. remember, they were back to back champs in 94 & 95 & still had some of that core, so they knew how to win without having homecourt in the playoffs
Hakeem missed almost half of the season and Barkley, Drexler, Willis, Elie, Johnson were all like 35+ years old... if it wasn't for Barkley's injury in game 4, maybe they would have won this game cause they were up till Charles injured in the game Anyway their best shot was in the 1997 season cause it was Hakeem's last season at his prime
Nice. My memory is still correct that Houston went 2-1. Back in the days when first round was a five-game affair, getting the 2nd win is a very tricky thing. Perhaps the 1994 Sonics and 1999 Heat once wished first round is already a seven-game series.
If Houston pulled off the upset…….. who knows how differently the rest of the 98 playoffs played out? Assuming the Lakers still beat Seattle, one of LA/Houston/San Antonio instead is opposite MJ’s last dance
The Rockets we're older at this point if they had upset Utah I doubt that they get past the Lakers. They would have probably beat the Spurs but not the Lakers.
DEF DEF spurs . Duncan was already a beast as rookie and then the admiral.....this yrs Lakers team was really before Kobe turned into an all star....he was on the rise....but if I remember right it was Eddie Jones that was LA's second option.....had Houston won this series it would have ben san Antonio vs Chicago....DEF!!!@@tevinsherrill5653
Its amazing how good Drexler still was in his later years. Im surprised he retired after this series
He then coached the cougars in college basketball.
It's amazing the Rockets (as disappointing as they were in 1998) came this close to stunning the Jazz in round 1.

Barkley doesn't get injured in game 4, we just might have seen it.

100 percent right@@tdvu
Barkley getting injured in game 4 is what changed this Series around. If Barkley doesn't go down in game 4 Houston wins this Series 3-1 period!
Malone committed 10-15 fouls each game.

Of all three Rockets legends Barkley Drexler and Olajuwon. Drexler looked the sharpest and most athletic, he could have still played two more years.
he really could have bc he was a deplorable head coach at the University of Houston 😅

If the Rockets won this series, I don't think they get out of the second round. It would be either the Lakers/Spurs against the Bulls.

Houston vs. Chicago in the finals
Bulls vs Lakers in the finals with an easy victory for the Bulls.
Houston shoulda won this series
The Jazz basically made two trips to the NBA Finals by constantly using illegal moving screens.
Clutch buckets from Matt Bullard.
Don’t let Gen Z kids see this video or they’re gonna call Houston a super team 😂
Partidazo!!

I was pulling for Houston so bad!
I was low-key pulling for Houston because of Charles Barkley.
Malone is such a dirty player..
Folks nowadays has this revisionist history about 90s ball and its players.
