i have been eyeing the metaspeed sky+ for a long time as a supershoe compatible for supinating gait. Are there other options in this category? Maybe something with more stable heel area. I don't have options to buy them all and try and compare each of them :D

Hi, I 115kg, high arch, supination and plantar fascitis, nimbus25 is good but only last me half year for walking, i just buy glycerine 20 gts a week, i feel very uncomfortable when standing longer time, any recommendation for my case? Not for running, just walking. In addition, kayano 30 and stability shoe will it good for us? Since it mentioned best for overpronation instead of supination.
    Thanks

I supinate which in an of itself is not bad, but as my speed and mileage increase it causes severe soreness in the anterior tibialis. shoes with the lateral heal flare are a recipe for success for me. Specifically the Endorphin Shift 3.

Lateral flare? The king would be the NB Rebel-1! And of course the NB 5280. I supinate from a birth defect, have a very high arch (wet footprint doesn't have anything showing between heel and ball of foot), have always rolled along the lateral edge of my foot, and the Rebel-1 and 2 have worked really well for me. Interesting you bring up achilles issues, I never had an injury until my late 40's, and I was competitive in college (Go Ducks!). I was plagued by achilles for the last 10 years, currently "in remission" but I expect one or the other to get aggravated once I start doing speed work for track season, just like every year.

I love the Rebel. But beware! The uppers tore away from the sole in 120 miles on two different pairs! Probably not the best for daily training.

Yes! Just went thru shin splint/ issue. Put a small arch support and boom! And I knew better. Trying to hold off potential plantar faciitis.. Found a white pr Rebel 1 hidden in the closet. But little cushioning. Looks cool though.

I’m on the heavy side and am working on my fitness. I have a low arch. I noticed when I’m running is that I have pain on the outside part of my foot. From pictures that I have seen. It’s called the “arm”? I looked on the bottom of my other shoes that I have and noticed that there is more wear on the rear outside corner of my heal and the outside portion of my “forefoot”? Im not much of a runner, I do other outdoor recreation like mountain biking. I’m not familiar with the foot layout, I found a joy for running and am including it in my cross-training regimen for my passion for mountain biking. What shoe or a combination of shoe and third party cushioning can help relieve the pain while enroute to improving my fitness?

We often recommend a flexible or no heel counter for haglund. See our haglund feature with shoe recommendations here: www.doctorsofrunning.com/2023/01/running-shoes-for-people-with-haglunds.html
Out of the list, the More v4 if you want a super cushioned shoe may be a good one to check out. The Rebel v3 has some good lateral flare that may be good if you want a good workout shoe.

    • @DoctorsofRunning

A stable neutral shoe with a low arch, like the Saucony Echelon, would probably work best. Or finding a shoe with a low arch with lateral sole flare!

Most injuries have to do with the running technique. If you have a bad running technique changing shoes will not correct that. When running you should not land on your heel but on your middle front foot. Read “born to run” to understand what I mean. Then you will understand that you only need a zero drop and width toe box shoe, something like Altra does. And you are good to go.
