    what i like about you is that you don't spend like 20 minutes tapping/crinkling one thing. love it

      Yes! I hate prolonged crinkling.

      I don't like those videos, either. I try to remember that different people like different things, but I don't think I could do one of those long, drawn-out crinkle videos. It's just waaay too boring!

    Here in the uk our Aldis always have an aisle in the middle of the store where they sell random items, such as clothing, kitchenware, gardening items, etc. I love having a rifle through those to see what they have in. The items change on a regular basis as well which is good.
    Really enjoy your videos, thank you for making them. :-)

    Thank you for the fantastic videos! I am quite bothered by the tap-tap-tapping so many ASMR videos are full of. Your voice, the limited (just right!) amount of crinkling, and the content of what you say are all absolutely perfect

    I didn't know American shopping carts aren't like the ones we have in France which all have locks. You'll very (very) rarely see a rogue cart on a parking lot (in France at least). It doesn't prevent cart bumps on a car though XD

    We do that cart thing here in canada, and I find it so nice that some people will give you a quarter so they can take your cart without you needing to go lock it up again. It's really a smart thing to do, I agree 100% with you

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went to Aldi this evening, and I did that very thing. A man was walking up to return his cart, and I held out a quarter and said, "I'll trade ya!" He looked at me like I'd just handed him a million bucks! He thanked me profusely. It was odd!

    So I live in The Netherlands and we have pretty much an Aldi in every town/village. And over here Aldi isn't as cheap anymore as it was supposed to be. And over here it is normal to put €0,50 in every shopping cart we have in any department store. It's normal over here I guess 😂 and I enjoyed this video a lot. And pretty much 80% of the products were products I've never seen before over here 😂

    I didn't realise they had Aldi in America! We have lots of Aldi stores in the UK but funnily enough, we only have the two handled carrier bags in England and you'd never find anyone using a paper bag so it's always funny to see it in American shows. It's very affordable in Aldi here and it's becoming a leading supermarket.

    • @MizziProductions
      @MizziProductions 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Arran Grant I wonder if they have Lidl too.

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't see paper bags in a lot of our stores, either. Walmart used to offer them, years ago, but they stopped that quite some time ago. I always try to keep 2-3 paper bags around the house. They come in handy for so many things.

    It is so funny for me as german that you guys in America are so fascinated with Aldi, Lidl and Co, because here in Germany, where Aldi and Lidl are originally from, people are kind of tired of these huge supermarkets. Most people decide to buy in little stores again - even if it costs a little more. And some even look out for plastic free stores, because plastic is so bad for the environment. Amazing that Aldi is something new to you Americans.
    Nevertheless I love your southern accent and your show and tells. 😉

    • @Fortheloveofagypsy
      @Fortheloveofagypsy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Welcometomyw0rld It's not a fascination. Idk who would actually be fascinated with a supermarket. Ppl here talk about Aldi because it's less expensive than other large stores. WALMART is a huge chain here and they probably have the biggest non-membership required grocery stores and they are always larger, by far, than any Aldi that I've seen. In most large cities in America, that I've been in, there aren't a lot of small grocery stores to choose from, but Whole Foods is plastic free and they are a large chain. Aldi isn't new to most of us "people" either. I've seen Aldi for years now in a lot of states.
      Mary, does grocery hauls from Walmart and Dollar Tree. I doubt she's "fascinated" with those stores, either. ;ppp

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aldi is the only store that I know of in my area that does this with their carts. Looking at larger stores, I'm surprised they don't do it. I can't imagine how much they spend in paying people to retrieve the carts from the parking lot (not to mention all the carts that wander off down the road...some of the into the ditch). I guess they don't want to inconvenience shoppers. You'd have to make sure you had a quarter with you to use one, and maybe they're afraid it would cause some people not to get a cart. I don't know. I really wish they did it, though. I hate all those free-range carts!

    recently found your channel- love it! i've realized that it bothers me when asmr-ists speak way more slowly than would be normal in real life, and you are excellent at sounding "natural," if that makes sense. also, if you are in need of an idea, i think just reading through a grocery store flyers/ads would be nice. a long time ago i would try to find this itunes radio station that had people reading newspapers for the blind. once a week someone would read through all the grocery store ads and, depending on the reader, it could be super tingly. :)

    oo also something that i like to do with pita bread or tortilla shells is
    put pizza sauce on it, microwave for 10 seconds
    then put cheese of choice and some pre-cooked meat if you like then fold and microwave for 20 seconds
    then you have a quick calzone!

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've also done something a little different with those soft shells - similar to what you mentioned. I add pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni to them, then put them in the oven to bake for about five minutes. They come out all nice and warm, and the edge get a bit crunchy. It's really good!

    So funny to hear about the shopping trolleys. Here in the uk all supermarkets have always had the coin slot on their trolleys. Didn't realise it wasn't a worldwide thing as the coin slot makes so much sense! Car parks are bad enough without having trolleys dumped all over the place 😂

      +SouthernASMR Sounds. Ok thanks. i want to share respectfully, so please anyone reading do not take this the wrong way.
      im the type that doesnt need long drawn out crinkles like another person was talking about with you. i just like the hauls you did with the NORMAL bag and paper noises. When someone hides that too much, or tries too hard to be quiet, afraid to touch the bags....then its no fun. 😯 i like the russeling and crinkles!!!! and i know from other paper videos ive watched ALOT of others do to. i see most of yours are very quiet. So id think doing the odd noisier one would be ok? Someone who doesnt like them, doesnt have to watch every single one of yours. right? vause i dont. just warn on the title or something? i do like your voice and ive seen the reading ones. those are good and i highly appreciate what you asmr people do. I was in isolation for several years, paralyzed and terminal at one point. So these are amazing for anyone in my situation and id recommend them to anyone. thanks for listening.

    Growing up, we used to use the aldi paper bags for book covers! Do they still cover books at school? Idk haha. I just remember my mom yellin at us to be careful with the bags because she wasn't buying any more. Good memories :)

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, good times! We used to use paper bags from Food Lion for our book covers. I don't think kids do that anymore - at least, not around here. You can buy stretchy fabric book covers, but it seems like my kids' books are mainly paperbacks, so a book cover probably wouldn't even stay on.

    I agree with Aldi using the lock system for their carts but I think it would be helpful to have a change machine in the store so that people could put in a one or five dollar bill and get some quarters if they need to. Don't you think that would be a great idea?

    And we just got our very first Aldi's a month or so ago! I haven't been there yet, kinda nervous to try something other than a Kroger or Food Lion but since you did this video, maybe I will give them a shot?!?

      @SouthernASMRSounds  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, definitely give them a try. I'm glad I did. We have Food Lion in our area. They had good prices a long time ago, but now they're one of the highest priced grocery stores around here. I only go in there if I have no other choice.

      Hi! I hope you liked it! You can see part 1 here: th-cam.com/video/hlVH8XXaydgA/w-d-xo.htmlnd there's a similar video that I made that same day:th-cam.com/video/RFNmpO9opD4/w-d-xo.html

      With the last 2 weeks that I have had, I absolutely, positively will check out the part 1. Seeing as I have been up all night, not able to get to sleep, and it is very gloomy, over-cast & rainy here, I may just curl up under the blanket, head phones in and drift off to sleep, listening to this!!!

    Here in Portugal all supermarkets use that system for carts, and have done so for as long as I remember. I guess it's a European thing.

  • @ionathompson660

    Amazing video !!
    In France, all supermarkets have shopping trolleys like in Aldi, you have to put a Euro in the lock to be able to use them, it's a great idea,
    Thank you for your great videos !
    Lots of love from France!

    so most of the store in the USA don't use the coin shopping carts? (not sure how to name that system) that's interesting also here it's often either 50 cents or 1 or 2 euros that you need to put in, but then we got some small plastic tokens that we can use instead too, although I don't think IKEA uses that system

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most stores in the USA, from my experience, do not do this. You just take a cart and use it. The problem with that is that people leave them all over the parking lot. It's really annoying.

    • @GlamityJean
      @GlamityJean 5 ปีที่แล้ว
