    Small gardener here. Husband not a tomato lover but does like things made with sauce. So I froze some of last years harvest and have been adding into jarred sauce I purchase. I recently got roasting recipe from a friend and asked about frozen. She said no, did not think they would work. Not sure why. So I just googled and here you are telling me I can use them. Thanks, simple down to the matter and I can use frozen!! Just subscribed to you too!!

      Yes ma'am! So glad you found me. Freezing tomatoes always saves my tomato harvest. I dont have to worry about getting to them immediately, and instead of wasting them, the good old freezer keeps them for me, until I can get to them! :)

    I’m totally going to try this! I had a bumper crop last year and I just haven’t had the motivation to can them or do anything with them. I know you said within a few months, but I’m going to give a go! Thank you! So loving this channel!

      Have at it! :) The "prime" window is a few months, but I've kept whole tomatoes for 6-8 months in the freezer. And they still make beautiful sauce. :)

    This is what I'm doing right now with last summers tomatoes of all kinds even cherry tomatoes, I cored mine before freezing. It turns out delicious.

      Isn't it wonderful you can make your sauce later in the year, after all the rush of gardening season is over? I've only ever done this with paste tomatoes, but I'm sure cherry tomatoes would add delicious flavor to a sauce. :)

    Very helpful. I froze a bunch of tomatoes from last harvest and need to use them up. Just wasn’t sure if I needed to take the skins off when placing them in water or not. Thank you for this. Do you have a video on how to water bath tomato seeds for canning?

      Glad to help. Exactly what do you mean by "water bath tomato seeds for canning?" Did you mean tomato puree? The only place I have a video showing you how to can tomato puree is in my Water Bath Canning for Beginners course. It's on sale now if you're interested? You'll learn lots of tips and tricks for preserving all kinds of foodstuff! :) Check it out here: atraditionallife.thrivecart.com/water-bath-canning-for-beginners/

    Will an emulsion blender work for the blending???

    • @atraditionallife858

      I've never tried with an immersion blender. I imagine it would take a while to puree everything, but let me know how it goes if you try! :)

    Can you cool the sauce down and freeze it with the additives, or is it best to freeze it without the additives and add them when you make your sauce?

    • @atraditionallife858
      @atraditionallife858  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like to freeze it with salt, herbs and garlic, so it's ready to go when I thaw it out. :)

    Can I add fresh basil?

    • @atraditionallife858
      @atraditionallife858  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure can! The only herb I wouldn't recommend if you're planning to refreeze it is sage. Good luck!
