Starting this year, Eli is in the rotation to be in charge of the projects, which includes the arrangements for his projects. Layne, Geoff, and Eli are taking turns now.
Eli had been doing the lights and effects for several years. Arrangements have been mostly swapped by Geoff and Layne, Eli was added to the arrangement rotation a few months ago. The makeup artist was given creative concept credit with Geoff for the morphing zombies.
One of the funniest parts wasn't even in the video itself. When J. None is at the door trying to escape, the VoicePlay channel in chat said to 'try the lock, dummy' LOL. And the Carrot Lord, Layne with the carrot through his head.
Rick Underwood - who is in charge of their makeup - has been the chief makeup artist for Universal’s Halloween celebration. And we just found out that he will be in charge of all the makeup for Universal’s Epic Universe.
This was a Geoff arrangement. If there are a bunch of super lows in a VoicePlay video it is usually a Layne arrangement. Same with super highs for Eli. Layne likes to push them. That said, Geoff really likes to push Layne on the beats. One of my fave points in this one is the way that Layne's 'beats' kick into gear only after he is infected by that Zombie bite.
Happy Halloween, guys! VoicePlay always comes through for us during the spooky season. Sometimes Geoff's lows are more for show than to serve the song, and I think that's what you were getting at. And not that I don't like both, but I agree that it's better when they feel more organic within the context of the song. And yes, I'm always having to remind myself that there are no actual instruments when listening to their stuff, so I'm glad you pointed that out. Their sound is always so full, using just their voices.
Happy Halloween, @Tarkis_!!!! Great to see you here! Yep, VP for the WIN on Halloween!!! Thanks for "getting" what I meant about Geoff's lows. We think alike. Have an AWESOME, FESTIVE day, friend!!
Thriller is such a classic. These guys do it well!! I love that you went from lacey to fishnet, Jillian. Your costume is simple and appropriate for the season! And Jeremy, even though we could see your face, it was a little spooky when you were moving your arms; the “background” was making weird twists!! It’s easy to want to sing along with this song so you just go ahead. You were spot on!! Catch you again for Home FrYday. 🎶 Cyd
Happy Halloween!!! Jeremy, you looked great, but glad you took the hood off for the giant grins in the reaction. Jillian makes for a lovely mad scientist (love those earrings). Isn’t this an awesome arrangement? Geoff did the arrangement on this one (Eli does most of the lighting for videos). The zombie that bit Layne is Kathy, Geoff’s wife. 🎃🪦❤️🎶
REEEBBBBECCCAAA!!! Happy Halloween, friend!! Thank you for the kind compliments!! It was fun to dress up and Jer had a BLAST making the "invisible man". LOL!!! Hope you are terrific, and thanks for the info on Kathy (so cool!!).
Happy Halloween! Enjoyed being with you on this reaction. Kathy, Geoff’s wife, did “bite” Layne before he kicked away a look alike dummy…. Jillian, and everyone, check candy for wrong kinds of gummies! 🎃💀🧡
I love Geoff's base heartbeat throughout different parts and then Layne does a heartbeat by putting a mic on his throat. I love ALL of it, they are so amazing. How they hit you with a wall of sound at the intro "thriller" line. They're creative geniuses! Fun reaction! I think Geoff did it even better than Vincent Price! His voice was perfect! Loved J.None's MJ, and Layne's carrot through the head was too, too funny! Cesar wins best actor he's so dang cute! Fun reaction you guys!
Omg love it you 2 are so cool lol floating head is awesome oh yeah on the guitar Lidnsey Buckingham plays is a Turner 1 thought I'd drop that to let you know 😄
Guys, Ren said his favorite song with The Big Push is “Swan Song”. He also plays an instrument on it which no one knows WTF it is. Other slept on Ren items: Acoustic live version of “Sweet Little Lady” “Wicked Ways” “Castles Made Of Sand” Enjoy!
I'm so glad I was finally able to watch your reaction to this song. I was hoping they'd do this song for awhile. And of course Geoff had to do the Vincent Price lines. I absolutely adore this rendition. Kathy was the floor zombie that bit Layne. The very very low stuff is called subharmonics. J is also the perfect person for this song. The only other person I could see doing this with them is DeeJay Young. Loved your costume idea Jeremy as well as yours Jillian! Much love!
Because of Kathy's hearing loss Geoff often puts funny stuff in the captions, so they're worth having on even if your hearing is fine. That is Kathy as Greta the Gruesome that bites Carrot Lord Layne.
I find it hilarious that you put on Black sunglasses and gloves to be 'seen' and they barely show up against that black background! Points for the use of the same accessories that The Invisible Man would wear in the movies!
Hey Jillian, I absolutely get what you're talking about. One of my biggest problems with VP is their overuse of Geoff's low hits when they're not needed for the song and I really appreciated that they didn't do that in this one. We all know he can hit those notes and when the song calls for them it's great but most of the time it's very contrived and puts me off.
Geoff and Layne do most of the arrangements, this one being Geoff's.

Thanks for your reaction to VoicePlay's "Thriller." It's excellent and very fun!
Thanks for watching!! We had a blast!

Welcome back to VPs playground. Great reaction.
You betcha! This was a FUN one to make! 🎃🎶

Killed it!!!😊😊😊

What a blast watching with you guys! Amazing performance by VP. This will be on my Halloween music list for years to come.
Thanks for the sweet complimen, @FLNatureGuy!! It makes us happy knowing our antics really do make others smile!!!
You can't just skip over the fact that Layne had a carrot 🥕 stabbed into his head 🤣🤣
Oh snap!!! 🤪🤣
@musikbyjh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omg love it you 2 are so cool lol floating head is awesome oh yeah on the guitar Lidnsey Buckingham plays is a Turner 1 thought I'd drop that to let you know 😄
LOL @ Jer's floating head!!!! Happy Halloween, Steven!! And thanks for the info on Lindsey's guitar. Tasty!!!
Geoff has the best scary laugh 😂

Thanks so much, you too! 👻🎃 PS: we didn't have a single kid knock on our door!!!! A whole bowl of candy now temps us!!!
@musikbyjh I'll call that a result or a "win-win" 😄.

Rick Underwood makeup magic. You'll find it all below the video in the credits. All the good stuff you ask us about. 😂😂😂🎃👻🕷️🕸️🧹🧟🧛🧙
Great reaction, guys! And Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻
Happy Halloween to you too, thanks for watching!! 🎃👻
Merry Samhain, y'all!
I love most that their music is meant for everyone - being family friendly - showing you don't need sex or swearing to sell music.
Absolutely. Great point!!

You caught that!! I was going for the "invisible man" look and those sunglasses seemed perfect, but they blended right in!! 🤣
I thought Jeremy was dressing up as John Cena.

Thanks for this, @jill9837!! I realize folks can get REALLY sensitive about this, and I appreciate knowing I'm not alone!! Happy Halloween!!
