The ending credit music..oh my god. Starts off as the same ending credit music that is in SMB1 and then suddenly kicks off into this powerful and rocking jam! Totally encapsulates the journey Mario had through the 8-bit era. It feels like putting on bow on the legacy of the Famicom/NES.
My first try to record NES music on a cassette!!! When I got this game in the Challenge Set I didn't think it would change my whole life. Its music was my first motivation to hear videogame music on a music player and because of it I keep collecting to this day all the classic videogame music I can, either I know the game or not. My favorites are: 1-Bowser Battle 2-Boss Battle 3-World 6 4-Hammer Bros. and Ending (draw) 5-Fortress I especially like Bowser Battle so much than it's in my top 5 NES boss battles. First time I heard it in the game (first time I watched Bowser on a game instead of on a TV show) was the best feeling I had had about a game and that battle was ultra-exciting for me. Thanks WiiGuy for the download version because I finally got this music for hearing it on a music player as I wished so many years ago.
I'm one of the lucky ones who got that game the 1st week it came out. :) Imo today's games lack something that old games like SMB3 had, a lasting "fun" factor. Sure games are still fun but I think in 15 years from now people are gonna talk more about the good old days of NES/SNES/SEGA than today's consoles.
Jonathan Randise I can't agree with you on that. I believe there are gems today that compare well with the classics. For example, Bioshock. And games of the 80's that are truly awful. Like Cheetamen, or E.T. for the Atari.

It all has to do with the nostalgia of childhood and whatever era you grew up in bro. The TV shows, the toys, the music, whatever you grew up with is usually what you are emotionally attached to. This was the Mario game that made me a lifetime fan, and it was fairly unique with its costumes all the way til Mario 3D Land and Mario 3d World, tho Super Mario Galaxy had some fun ones too

I really like the 8-bit Stereo sound. Wish these tracks were a bit longer, like up to 2 or 3 minutes. I really want to know how these were made. I know a good deal about audio editing and phase shifting to make mono sound like stereo, but there is a bit more going on here. I know some NES games were actually made with stereo in mind, but I don't think many here in the USA got to experience it because of the hardware design regarding composite output lacking stereo channels. I think that was also lost when we used the RF modulator. I mean, I wish our old school games sounded as good as this by default, but I remember nothing but mono in 8-bit games. There were some really great 8-bit soundtracks back then that would have been even better. It wasn't until the 16-bit with SNES and the Sega Genesis that we got stereo sound.

So nostalgic bro When I was little, around 2009 or so, my dad used to play this with me all the time on NES Cafe, an online emulator site, before it was shutdown.
I was a young, impressionable 12 year old. I can remember my bros and I begging our parents to take us to blockbuster video to rent this. This game I can still say is my favorite of all time. The allstars version is a little more practical nowadays for saving. We used to play in the morning, turn off the tv and leave the nes on. Then we'd play outside most of the day and come back in, turn tv back on and resume the journey.
Some of my favorite games for the NES! All 3 Mario's, All 4 Dragon Warrior's(although I don't have the 4th one), All 6 Mega Man's(although I don't have the first one), Kirby's Adventures, All 3 Double Dragons, Final Fantasy, All 3 Ninja Guidans, Super Dodge ball, And finally one of my most favorites both Zelda games!

THE COCKPIT INSTRUMENT PANEL During each adventure, an instrument panel appears above the gameplay area. This will show the current status of Uncle Scrooge's progress in each land. The various cockpit indicators are shown as follows. 1. Hit Points: When damage is done by the enemies, etc., the color changes from red to yellow. When all turn yellow, one player is out. 2. Land Money: Money collected for that land. When the player is out, this figure goes back to zero. 3. No. of Players: When there are no more players, the game is OVER!!! 4. Total Amount: When the Land Money is brought back to the Control Room it is added to the total of the game. 5. Time: When the time indicates zero, one player is out. THE CONTROL ROOM The game starts at this Control Room. You can start the Game at any of the five lands that are offered. You cannot choose a land that you have previously cleared. Some might not know this, but the underground theme in this game was actually a carryover from the US Super Mario Bros 2 prototype. They had used a rougher quality version of the same tune (but in SMB2 it was longer and had more going on before the loop).
WTF I NEVER COMMENTED ON THIS ONE?? Dude, i swear... behind MM3, this is a game, i just, ive loved it. My dad's NES that he got on my first birthday (For me), came bundled with this game... and i instantly fell in love with it. God, the graphics back then the gameplay, the powerups, the crazy worlds, the MUSIC it was like SMB1 on some SUPER JUICE. I still love it to this day, my god. 2. Land Money: Money collected for that land. When the player is out, this figure goes back to zero.
3. No. of Players: When there are no more players, the game is OVER!!!
4. Total Amount: When the Land Money is brought back to the Control Room it is added to the total of the game.
5. Time: When the time indicates zero, one player is out.
THE CONTROL ROOM
The game starts at this Control Room. You can start the Game at any of the five lands that are offered. You cannot choose a land that you have previously cleared.
When you come in contact with Launchpad, (who is standing within the various lands) he will ask you if you wish to return to the Control Room or not. If you choose "yes" you will return to the control room temporarily. Once there, you can put the money you collected into the safe, (Total Money Score). Launchpad can only be used once in each land.
ITEMS AND BONUSES
These are some of the various items that will assist Uncle Scrooge in his search for the five treasures.
Diamonds:
Small Diamond - worth $2,000
Big Diamond - worth $10,000
Red Diamond: Worth $50,000
Magic Coin:
For a period of time, it will make Uncle Scrooge invulnerable.
Ice cream:
Restores one Hit Point to Uncle Scrooge.
Cake:
All of Uncle Scrooge's Hit Points are recovered.
Scrooge Doll:
Another Scrooge is added to the Number of Players.
Skeleton Key:
This is the key that will allow you to enter the African Mines.
U.F.O. Key:
This will be needed on the U.F.O.
Remote Controller:
Once you take this, you can call for Gizmoduck on the Moon.
HELPFUL CHARACTERS
These are some of the friends of Uncle Scrooge that will assist him in his search for the five treasures.
Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby - They give Uncle Scrooge hints in the different lands.
Bubba Duck - He gives a special treasure to Uncle Scrooge.
Mrs. Beakly - She made some wonderful treats for Uncle Scrooge.
Gizmo-Duck - If you can find the remote control on the Moon, Uncle Scrooge can summon Gizmo-Duck to assist him.
Launchpad - This famous pilot will fly Uncle Scrooge out of each land and back to the Control Room in Duckberg. He will also give Uncle Scrooge a convenient ride (from time to time).
HINTS AND TREASURES OF EACH LAND
THE AMAZON: Uncle Scrooge must search through the ruins of the Incan Empire. There are many traps here, and caution is necessary! The treasure in this land is the Sceptre of the Incan King.
TRANSYLVANIA: Uncle Scrooge has to contend with the monsters of a very haunted house. Listen to Huey's message to find the boss' room. The mirrors in this spooky abode can transport you to other parts of the house. The treasure of this land is the Coin of the Lost Realm.
THE AFRICAN MINES: Uncle Scrooge must obtain the skeleton key from a different land to venture into the underground mines. Look for treasures here in the wildest of hiding places! The treasure in this land is the Giant Diamond of the Inner Earth.
THE HIMALAYAS: Uncle Scrooge has to be very careful where he steps around here. If he hops in the snow, he can get stuck, and the ice is very slippery. The treasure in this land is the Crown of Genghis Khan.
THE MOON: Uncle Scrooge must find the remote control for Gizmo-Duck in this land. Gizmo-Duck can help him find the entrance to the Moon Boss' room. The treasure in this land is the Green Cheese of Longevity.
THE LAST BATTLE: Once all five treasures have been obtained by Uncle Scrooge, he must contend with the strongest boss of all!
GENERAL HINTS FOR ALL LANDS: When in doubt, jump about. Many of the various treasures have had been scattered in the most incredible of hiding places. You must Pogo-Jump across spiked logs. You can also Pogo-Jump on top of characters that are in mid-air.
Some might not know this, but the underground theme in this game was actually a carryover from the US Super Mario Bros 2 prototype. They had used a rougher quality version of the same tune (but in SMB2 it was longer and had more going on before the loop).
I never got to play great games like these in their hay-day, but I just bought this game yesterday and am now embracing my inner 9 year old.

WTF I NEVER COMMENTED ON THIS ONE?? Dude, i swear... behind MM3, this is a game, i just, ive loved it. My dad's NES that he got on my first birthday (For me), came bundled with this game... and i instantly fell in love with it. God, the graphics back then the gameplay, the powerups, the crazy worlds, the MUSIC it was like SMB1 on some SUPER JUICE. I still love it to this day, my god. Im just gushing here... its one of my favorite NES games, and i honestly would say it is my favorite SMB gameEVER
