IKR! You obviously didn’t make it so of course it doesn’t taste like yours!
I wanna see the people give their own dishes to them to see if they would rate theirs bad without knowing its their own dish.
@@SapphireDreamssss If it was based off of just taste, they could just blindfold them or smthn :/

as a southern, I’m OFFENDED! Cornbread?!?! This is our time to shine.... and secondly, a triangle piece of cornbread means you baked your bread in your grandmama’s cast iron skillet 💗
For sure. And then they complain that it's not sweet enough. . . Real Southern cornbread isn't supposed to be sweet. They're just used to Jiffy
I think there weren’t any southerners because this channel is probably based up north
“Nobody would confuse this as my cornbread.”
Girl, that was the nicest thing you said all video.
love how they like to say cornbread gotta be moist and all of theirs was dry

the girl who got her recipe from google was so confident about winning
A little positivity isn't bad
Of course whether it taste good and feel good matter more
“This is corn muffin not corn bread.”
Like the shape of the corn bread is going to dramatically change the taste of it.
She saying it from a culture and tradition perspective. If you don’t understand then...
@@etx_jay nae, I understand. But the objective is to rate the taste of the cornbread
As a southern person cornBREAD and cornMUFFIN are completely different do not disrespect the two.
The size and shape of the vessel you pour the batter into is going to affect the *texture* of your cornbread, although you're correct that it won't change the actual like, salt or sugar content or w/e. Putting it into individual muffin cups is going to make the batter lose more moisture as it bakes, compared to a larger baking dish or cast iron pan.
" I really want to thank everybody for understanding that my cornbread is the best." Love it.
nijsha's vibe is immaculate. she's so humble and sweet
Her cornbread muffin look good no cap. Glad she won!!
@Mind traveling Sagittarius word down south food just hit different idk what it is but idk if u ever been up here (up north pa/ny/nj) but we got hella southerners up here my grandma was born in the carolinas my grandpa still preach down there in sumter or sumner SC shit u know some my fam southern i got aunts name Gerveene , corrine , ethyl and bertha 😂😂 one of my uncs name docthaniel 😂😂

@@69nadyacole69 just because someone wears makeup doesn’t mean it’s gonna cover all of that
They need to blindfold them and have them try everyone's including their own, and they need to have older southern grandma's cooking southern food.
The "sandy" texture is cornmeal girl! Y'all need a pad of butter with it too, and I like sweet and unsweet cornbread
"don't give me a triangle of cornbread" i feel sorry for her, she must not own a good cast iron.
It’s really not traditional tho more black are way more familiar with the square shape
Exactly what I said. My Mama always cooked cornbread in a Cast Iron and all of our lives we cut it in triangles. I still do it to this day, at the tender age of 30.
Make them try their own food too and claim it's person no.4!
@@cena2616 maybe, it'll still be interesting to see. They could change the appearance a little bit and watch them trash their own food before eating it and realising it's theirs lol
@@juniorquarshie2051 Exactly. Serve it differently (in this case change the shape since it was probably served to the producers in a big container)
@@cena2616 blindfolded would be a good way I mean it isn't that hard to pick something up and put it to your mouth when it's directly infront of you or on a plate on your lap
There's definitely an easy way to do it
They should have had two separate segments for this because there's two types of cornbread. There's the southern...buttermilk... (cast iron skillet baked) cornbread...not sweet...cut in triangles and then there is the sweet cornbread cut in squares. Both delicious though 😋🤤
Yes that's what I grew up eating, buttermilk cornbread and Salt Water flat cornbread which is not sweet at all. I never really ate sweet homemade cornbread.
Where I’m from we don’t do sweet cornbread, like my grandma always said, “everything don’t need sugar”.
Please leave the rude people at home. We are gettin tired off the “this doesn’t taste like mines well Miss Shirley shut up. Its time for something new blindfold them and see how they react
That’s the whole point it’s a critique challenge. Either keep it real or keep it fake.

I really liked the mom in the gray t shirt, she was respectful and nice with her feedback
She was talking crazy with a 5.5 😂😂😂😂😂
This was the most humble winner I’ve seen yet ☺️
I have to disagree with the lady who said cornbread should be square. Many of the best cornbreads were made in a cast iron skillet. Enough so, they even made cornbread pans, that were round and separated by walls to make the cornbread make the cornbread pie shaped.
I've had my cast iron skillet for like 25 yrs and anytime I make cornbread or biscuits, that's how I do it
This. My grandma makes the best cornbread. In a cast iron skillet. And it's not sweet either.
“Ancestors on Google” ✨
The confidence behind that statement made me want her to win off rip
Even me . also lowkey disappointed that there are not many people on the comment that got that😅

I'm black and southern
Tbh I'm not picky about cornbread, as long as it tastes good there's no "perfect" way
Savoury cornbread is more for savoury dishes, like soup or stew
Sweet cornbread has it's moments too
I rarely eat cornbread by itself, always has to have a sidedish
@@starcherry6814 Southern cornbread is usually more savory, but I like northern cornbread with sugar and being cake-like bc that seems more southern than northern

My grama taught me to make it in a hot cast iron skillet for that crunch and that it should be sturdy, full of corn flavor, and not sweet or too moist to stand up to having bean soup being poured on top of it.
I know we don't crack but nan one of these women are over 40. My cooking tips need to come from a person who has lived life and is on one, perhaps two, life-sustaining medications.
They should have a new set of people make a cornbread and then slice a piece of their own cornbread and have them eat it thinking that it’s another person’s food but it’s actually theirs.
y’all need to have some southern women up here for cornbread 🤣
There's always one honest and positive person on these the rest are always rude or just not that nice.

I rarely find good corn bread so I always say I don’t like it until I get one that somebody put their foot in. It’s so easy to mess up cornbread 😭🤮
Kudos to the winner. These are some young Mom's. Can we get one with some grandmother's or older mother's who've been making cornbread their whole lives?
Ones who didn’t get their recipes from google or the back of the jiffy box then add sugar!
“My cornbread. My cornbread” like y’all made a fuckin recipe. Can y’all get some COOKS in here?
@stryfetc1 whether somebody happened to make something similar I think her point was that it wasn't taken directly from a set of directions for the recipe. Obviously making a certain dish requires certain ingredients otherwise it's not that dish. But there's something special about kind of coming up with your own little somewhat unique version as a chef. Whether that's adding a little extra of something or less of something else. Or adding an extra ingredient. Whatever it may be. That's unique. But throwing some ingredients together that somebody told you will taste good is not exactly unique
exactly! cause I have never used a recipe for cornbread, I had to watch my momma and eye everything, and learn the consistency!
@stryfetc1 dude so what😂 why are you so adamant about everything anybody makes being done already? The whole point of making something from scratch is that somewhere along the way your own decisions as a cook came into play. You didn't copy a recipe gram for gram. That is what makes cooking special. Because if you took 5 chefs and had them all make cornbread from scratch, every single one them is going to be slightly different.
all of them are so pretty omg
They're all so beautiful
