Dear Christian, I only just realized that you started your new company. Your videos, tipps and tricks have been a goldmine for my work since I came in touch with products you’ve been involved in. Wishing you and your company success because you really are an inspiration for us composers since so many years. all the best! Thomas
Hey Christian, only recently I learned about your departure from spitfire-audio. What shocked me the most was the reasons why. I truly can't understand why many of us (apparently) aren't entitled to have honest opinions about any issue and why we can't openly talk about it, these days. What is this world that we are creating? A world based on the "political correct" attitude that allows democracy to be turned into anarchy? An healthy democracy requires responsibility and vigilance. Unfortunately many exploited this and confused democracy with debauchery. I do not criticize or care about what anyone chose to do with themselves, their choices, the way-of-life they embrace for themselves but I can't stand that they use my "respect for them" to hurt me or hurt others only because they don't allow me the right to have different opinions or make different choices on matters that are dear to them. It is like a racist accusing me of racism, when I’m not one. Anyway, I just subscribed to this new community and I wish you all the best and huge success. Stay safe and thank you for the courage to speak your mind, even if that makes "others" uncomfortable. If they become uncomfortable then, maybe, there’s something not resolved in theirs lives and maybe they are part of the problem, not the ones they accuse of.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. I don’t give a monkeys what people say or said about me but was heart broken when they went for my work pals which is why I had to step down. I wish them all the best and every success in the future. This project is a more humble one but just me continuing what I was doing and that was giving people encouragement to have a bash on a musical instrument. Xxx
@@TheCrowHillCo You (and spitfire) have done much for many musicians, believe you me. I'm one of them. Keep the good fight, that’s the way. Stay safe and thanks for VAULTS. Quite powerful stuff.
Christian I've always loved your videos, and I love this new concept. But you've been through a lot. I'm so pleased you're back on TH-cam but it's with the greatest respect that I want to say you look stressed. I hope you're okay. I'm overjoyed about this new chapter, and appreciate your honesty. And the 'commune' idea looks great. But you've already mentioned that one of your team is sick because he's worked so hard. Look after yourselves.
We will... note to self, don't launch a company in late autumn when flu season starts! It has been a stressful time, but the love and support I have around me is nothing short of sensational.
Your best comment was the analogy of the “accidental photograph”. That really sums up what we all strive for; to capture a moment in time that is unique and special. Thanks for the tour!
I haven't seen your videos for months and just found crow hill Chanel the last few days, ur a little more direct and creative and less scripted when you speak and explain your ideas, more feel, more like a rock star than a film composer these days, its really inspiring
Congrats on the new space, Christian. Wishing you the very best of fun and good fortune to you and the Crow Hill team. Please keep delivering that cheeky humour I have come to love. All the best from Sydney, Australia - Cheers, Pete
I'm only a hobbyist though was in bands and did records in my younger black and white life. We've set up the back room in oir new small house as a chill out/creative space. My studio is in there, my daughter is getting into DJings so that's in there and it's full of art and astehtics peices we love that inspire us. It's also a great great space to hang out in listening to music and chatting, eating, drinking etc. So I'm totally on board with what you're saying. There are times in the night I'll just pop down and work on a song because it's there but also because it feels part of me and comfortable. Home and creativity are now inextricably linked and it's fruitful and fun.
I have a random idea to put your way: There are various amateur electronic production groups that meet up in Edinburgh. It tends to end up being a bit of a rabble and a haphazard jamming session. Generally, because the meeting spaces are not conducive to working together on electronic music. One such place is The Safari Lounge in Abbeyhill. The downstairs is a function room, and the patrons that attend the group tend to bring beers too close to expensive music toys. If the Crow Hill Company had their own grouping on the Meetup platform for strangers to meet and create music, it'd take off overnight because it's the right environment. Good ideas come together better in the right spaces. Bringing strangers together in a studio environment that nurtures creativity would be superb for the East Coast! Music creation groups often attract a lot of vulnerable folks, and those folks start to come out of their shell and flourish. Just a thought 🙂
Congrats for all the work you've achieved, and the true speech about how you do things. I wish and give you all the strength you deserved to continue in that direction. Love the content, love the ideas. Cheers from Paris.
Loving the space and the energy. Great to see you set up in the new place. It is quite Grange like. I remember the call on the morning after the auction when you asked me to check online, as you may have bought a mixer owned by Hendrix after indulging in the free wine. You took the news of the final bidding figure very well as I recall. Big love and have fun. x
I bought some Lombardi dynamic microphones 15 years ago for a band I was working with king Midas sound. They were excellent and much more refined on vocals than 57’s. They are still going strong

Thanks for the tour, Christian. I'm not really clear on how all the parts of your project relate to each other; and I don't need to be! Good luck with it. I'd be interested to see you exploring the Eventide Misha module or modular synthesis more generally. At this point, my plan is to use my little Niftycase for - mostly - effects and filters to use with my Taiga semi-modular, guitar, and so on. But the temptations are great! And thanks for introducing me to Helene Vogelsinger and Snakes of Russia, back when you were releasing a sample library inspired by un-notated musical traditions.

Couldn't agree with you more, Christian. We've all, to a certain extent, been sold the 'dream' that we can do it all ourselves by sitting in front of a computer with huge sample libraries and tons of plugins. It's a sad delusion and is the antithesis of music making, which has up until this computer obsession, been a social and game playing activity. Glad to see you are resetting this assumption with the aim of having messy, spontaneous and open-ended sessions which, whatever the results, will be a lot more fun than this lonely idea of one man and his computer studio. I think you can be a great catalyst for a change in our ideas around music and the joys of making it.
