Not more, but certainly more productive and meaningful screen time than Darcy got. The collector has WAY less but from that alone we are already deeming him the best character in the series. Darcy had a lot more time but I didn’t hear anyone say she was a favorite. The collectors backstory, character design and personality make him far more captivating than Darcy ever was to me and probably to lots of others as well

I just remembered this small detail but the reason why the collector always asked, "who's there!" during king's sleep, he wasn't able to see king because of the amulet that might later be very important. The thing that proves this is that when king found the plate that the collector was stuck in, the collector even mentions that he couldn't see king before he took off the amulet

If you look closely, The collector actually has a slight glow in his eyes, but when King appears at 9:02, the glow fades, showing that collector is actually passive towards king and won’t hurt him.

No. Is that King’s a Titian. Collector used to play with the baby Titians many centuries ago. So seeing the last baby Titan in front of him, he has a new chance to play with him again.
But while King was still a baby, he’s a lot more mature, with mentally a teenager or a young grownup. He didn’t want to play with the Collector, he needed to save his friends and stop the Draining Spell.

One of the most terrifying moments in this show to me is watching the collector fix the world and everyone dying, that was a major plot point fixed in like one second, so many people tried fixing it and they could just stop it in one second with his finger and act like it was no big deal. It was such a good way to show how powerful he was after it being talked about for so long. It established the huge difference between them, like ants and a giant.
The way he casually flicks Belos and he dies instantly is a close second. This is a character who casually committed godlike feats without any expenditure of energy.

The way I watched his little scene twice. The first time laughing and the second in absolute TERROR. Titans are ENORMOUS and their blood can give magic to the Boiling Isles.
The titan felt that the collector was so dangerous he had to be LOCKED AWAY-likely for everyone's safety. And now the only one that has a chance of stopping him doesn't even know how AND is a baby. The ONE saving grace we have is that Phillip fucked up SO much that he feels like King is the only person he can trust. Even then-for how long.

The way multidimesional travel works in the owl house is also different from gravity falls. It's a a shame that he got manipulated by both sides. He needs a good parent, teacher and friend and he'll be right as rain.
That kid is god, and when you're dealing with a god with the attitude of a typical child, it's very hard to tell him what to do without getting killed.

I'd like to talk about 7:52. The collector was initially suspicious of King and I believe he actually wasn't going to trust him until he said he "pinky swears". There's a slit second where the collector is kind of dumb-struck and then starts laughing. I think this is because he realized that King is really similar to himself (since King was the one who initiated the swear instead of him) and he liked that. It makes you wonder how crazy the collector is though, because he saw King and didn't immediately think "OMG HE CAN LET ME OUT!" Instead all he cared about was playing games with him regardless of the fact he was still trapped. He is a chaotic neutral and that is why I love him.
I think its more like, he's a child (a child immortal sure but a child nonetheless) and the word of another child was more genuine to him than the adult that previously manipulated him and threw him away
I mean, he is a literal child. He would probably be more interested in playing with a new friend then letting out
I love the “god with the mind of a child” trope. Its truly terrifying.
So, kinda suprised that noone is talking about the fact there are 2 imprisoning stones, each on different sides of the world. And one is broken, while the one Belos has is not. not only is the collector trapped. But he's quite literally shattered. afterall there is a dark side of the moon. Mind you that King was to be sacrificed to release the shattered side. yet the unbroken one all he had to do was willingly take side and release him. The one that is currenlty released is the carefree variation that has more of a giddy child's side to things. never taking anything seriously and always looking for entertainment. The other side of him is clearly far darker...
Not only that, he talks to himself as if there are 2 voices speaking when questioning if someone 'likely belos' is his friend or not.

And he literally split themselves in 2 pieces when he mentioned to king how his dad trapped him.
Also notice that cloak they put on King at 3:02. It splits the face into carefree/ content and sad/ troubled (closed eyes, smile versus frown and a tear). Maybe this other "side" is the regulatory side of him or the side that allows him to understand/ feel things like regret, hurt, or empathy (realize he's too strong to play rough with everyone else and know when he takes things too far)
I wonder if that's actually the case or not, though. When we see the collector talking to Belos in King's dream, we see one unshattered glass as well as many shattered pieces, far more than what it would take to make one glass, suggesting several of those things contained the collector. Otherwise, why would all of those shattered pieces be floating around?

The collector struck me as the character who is antagonistic, chaotic and a little destructive, but not heartless. And yes I do think the Collector is evil, and the "they're just a kid who doesn't know how much their power effects others" is a little silly. The Collector was perusing the owl beast at some point, and listening to their wording it didn't sound like he didn't know the consequences. (oh and in hollow mind he sounded excited at the prospect of everyone dying to a draining spell) But again, they aren't heartless and this might be another "Luz makes friends with the bad guys" moment
It's really an interesting way to look at a villian. He clearly has a concept of lying and deceit, of right and wrong but they only apply it to themself. He doesn't seem to internalize why stuff like "killing a bunch of witches and demons" or "ressurecting a kid just so that Bellows can kill him" are wrong. I mean, why would they? They don't seem to have the ability to die, so they can't empathize with others about it. I

But thankfully, King was there to live up to what Belos didn’t want to: Freeing the Collector! And now through the final season, thanks to Luz, King and Eda’s influence, he's a better and more positive being who is now careful and willing to play not-so-dangerous games that involve hurting or killing anyone.
If there is one thing that Belos and I can agree on is that the Collector is Indeed a round boi.

At this point I think I'm most interested in his role in Eda's curse, because now I can't help but wonder if it means Belos had a hand in that. Like did the collector create that curse or maybe "nudge" Lilith into getting it because he and Belos knew that Eda getting cursed would set off the chain of events that eventually led to Luz coming to the Isles and helping belos? I realize it's a stretch but I still want to know what's going on there. Also, I can't help but wonder if the Collector has the power to remove Eda's curse...I mean he can boop the moon.

@@bowtiefrenchfry800 Maaaaaan, now that I think of it, not lifting the curse off not only would be thematic but could be The Theme. How both him and Eda were tricksters that didn't care much about others safety and just liked to see the world burn since afults and suxh just abused of them. But the curse obligated Eda to look at her dark side, the things she wanted to ignore, the curse forced her to stop looking at life as a game, and, at the end, that's the problem with The Collector - he simply never had a real interaction where people werent trying to use him, so he doesn't know what's reality, how it is more than a game of winners and losers. Kind of ranted there but I think there is a parallel between Eda and the Collector coming and that it will be very important for both their arcs.

Facts:
The Collector is a kid
The Collector does know how to use his powers (literally moving the moon with his finger without a sweat)
The Collector is evil, but not true evil. To him everything is just a game and not in a sick twisted way. He genuinely believes all of reality is just a game. (all actions, zero consequences, a fantasy if it's easier to understand)
Theory:
The collector is an all powerful child who isn't aware that everything he does isn't a game. He can't be stopped with power. The only ways to stop him is to disconnect him from reality (like he was imprisoned by Kings dad) or by making him understand the errors of his ways. The second route is more realistic and fits within the theme of the Owl House.
Making him see that everything isn't just a fantasy. That there is a such thing as reality.
You can't force people to play with you even if you are all powerful and can control them like a puppet. It will never be genuine. The collector just wants to live in his fantasy for all eternity, but at the end of the day it isn't real, and he will have to face reality. I believe Lutz and King, will be the ones to tell him this. Since the Collector parallels them. A person who wanted to live in their fantasy.

@@grippers_unmatched Going with the he is a kid and his name is Collector, I'm guessing that like all kids the Collector wanted a new toy/pet to play with, but after playing with it for a while he threw it away or rather the Owl Beast has been forever in a game of Tag with the Collector. Which explains the Collectors obsession with playing Tag and in the flashback of the Owl beast when we first see the Collector he says "You can't run away anymore it's over."

I love the character of Collector so much. The build-up and pay-off were so worth it and I am looking foward to what they may do in the 3rd and final season. Plus, their design is some of the best I have ever seen in a Cartoon. 💫

The Collector gives me strong vibes of that Twilight Zone episode where the kid has insanely strong supernatural powers and traps his town and all the people in it under his control. Because he’s a kid and his parents are too afraid to try and really parent him, he lacks basic empathy, understanding of pain and death, and how being trapped in a Lovecraftian nightmare is breaking the minds of the adults. Those who misbehave are “sent to the cornfield.” The Collector strikes me as a being that is immensely powerful, but also eternally child-like, so his grasp of right and wrong are skewed and his interest is only in “having fun.” No matter what that costs others. Less chaotic evil and more an intensely chaotic neutral, able to help or hurt on the spin of a dime. I find Belos very intimidating and his goals are stomach turning, but the Collector frightens me more because of the simple fact that he is almost entirely unpredictable (plus, seeing a villain that has been built up for two seasons with incredible tact and seems unbeatable to the protagonists get turned to mush against a wall from a single tap of a finger does such a good job of underlining how scary the Collector is, all while keeping Belos a formidable figure.)
The kid’s name was Anthony and that episode was parodied in the Simpsons where Bart took his place.
i think the collector is aware of what they're doing, but that perhaps his godlike status has given him a warped view on the value of witch and demon life, so they think of them more like ants or toys to play with than actual people. they don't seem completely evil though, just entirely focused on their own entertainment without considering the impact of the suffering it causes.

This makes me so sad to see. The collector has been all alone for who knows how long, and maybe even as a celestial, he was alone. I thought maybe King would actually become friends with him, but in the end, he used him to stop the draining spell. He stayed behind only so Luz and the others could escape. I think all the collector needs is a guardian who can teach him right from wrong. If you give a child so much power with no rules obviously he's going to use them for his own whims, and if he is never corrected then he's never going to change. So far the only adult figure he had was Belos, and we all know he wasn't really interested in helping the collector. He lied and used him. :'(((((

But hopefully seeing as King isn't a villain, and he saw with his own two eyes what happens to people who lie to the collector, he'll keep his side of the deal.

Man how we went from the collector being an intimidating presence in his introduction capturing the owl beast (before anyone says “But it’s they” shhhh shut up its he/they so quiet) to a child who wants to play games with god like powers. Even the voice changed I wonder why.
It could be because their first appearance was technically in the mind of Eda/the Owl Beast, and, like a lot of the other scenes in that part, reality could be a bit warped. A similar thing happened where Luz remembered the Collector saying something a bit darker than what the really said.
But I honestly don’t blame the Owl Beast; I love the Collector, but if they were trying to kill/trap me eternally? MAN would I be scared.
Philip/Belos and Kikimora refer to the Collector as "he" so I think it's safe to assume that the Collector is in fact male or at least something on that side of the gender spectrum.

I wonder... Are there more than 2 collectors? think about it, there are 2 mirrors in the boiling isles and one of them was already broken before the last episode so it would make sense if there were more of them. Especially since Kiki said "A child from the stars" implying there a race of star people.
This means either the child lost it's family on the boiling isles or the star people raged war on the titans and lost. That would also mean king and collector have a lot more in common then just being super powerful creatures in which they can make peace with it.

since the Hunter's mirror connected King to The Collector I doubt it, they haven't really shown much that could show a separate personality imo so I doubt that as well
Collector and King have the same eye color. Collector is chaotic and can change reality as he wishes. Titan, according to legend, gave to the Demons realm life and a place to live for everyone. He is more about order and was also powerful enough to imprison Collector and clearly has a strong connection with him.

The collector is honestly terrifying being partially because he takes the form of a child but his power is immense considering the fact he literally just moved the moon But he could likely destroy the entire universe in the blink of an eye
But he just wants to have friends to play with. Like he said, he hates being alone. Me, if I was in the show, I’d never leave him by himself. I’d be there for him when he needs someone to be with him. I’d stay in the room with him while he’s sleeping. I’d be a twin sister to him, and I’d play with him all day, and sleep with him all night. I’d always be by his side. We’d be inseparable. My Owl House character’s name is Sakura, and I’m a twin sister of the collector. A girl who’s the same age as him, and looks like him, but a girl. I play with him and we have fun together. I read bedtime stories with him, and you’d never see him without me (and vice versa). I always love playing with him.

I don't think the collector is evil. He's literally just a kid with the power of a god, He doesn't know how to use that power, so he uses it to do what he wants with no knowledge of the consequences, or that his actions even HAS consequences. After all, how would he know? He's just a kid.
EDIT: Let me clear some things up here..... First of, many people have mentioned the whole owl beast thing and I agree, definitely seems evil. Another someone mentioned is how he taunted about killing Hunter, was aware of the draining spell, yada yada yada.
For the owl beast, don't have much of an explanation on that one, definitely something sketchy going on there. I'm not sure about the hunting a killing titans thing because we only know that from his followers, and as far as we know, they can't talk to him. Their shield, or whatever it is, is broken, they can't communicate with him, so I don't think we are 100% sure about that.
As for the second one, It's clear he's only doing this to be set free, which on the surface seems selfish, which in a way it is, however, it's clear all he wants to do is play games. He's a child, not fully aware of the concept of morality. He doesn't understand that what he is doing is bad. I believe what we'll see in season 3 is not the collector being trapped, but rather given a sense of morality, a understanding that there are ways to play without doing what you want, whenever you want, and without hurting people. Perhaps Eda could take him in? We'll just have to wait and see.
EDIT 2: This isn't me justifying the collector's actions. I'm just pointing out that I don't think he's bad, I think he has the potential to be good, he just needs to be shown how.

Everyone says he's not that bad, he just has a lot of power and he's not conscious of what he's doing, but that is only considering when he was released, but before the last episode, and even in the king's tide itself, he showed himself fully aware of, you know, killing everyone, and literally laughing at it. I have a theory he has a double personality, because of how diferent he can be on diferent moments, and that king scene where he talks to himself. about doubting belos, one trusting him and the other being mad.
I can assume that the Collector is fully aware of his surroundings and his own doings, but he doesn’t care and does it for his own benefit - that causes to hurt everyone around him. And from my own point of view, it seems that the Collector maybe pretending, or somehow, is just acting about playing games and stuff and is actually plotting something evil later, that could be possible. I’m not sure, though, just an assumption that could be possible in the show.

3:18 it’s confirmed the collector is an ultra beast
He may be one of the most favorite characters now, but he's absolutely terrifying. If he wasn't a perpetual child (or just very gradual in growth), he could do some real damage, especially with Belos' influence on him for hundreds of years.
I think people arguing about whether the Collector is truly evil or not are missing the context that he's been in that mirror for a very long time, and in that time the *only* person who has interacted with them is Philip - a man who despises the Boiling Isles and everything on it. So for hundreds of years all the social contact the Collector has known is someone slowly indoctrinating him to believe that witch/demon/grimwalker life is worthless. When you look at the things the two of them speak about, it seems the Collector is only saying what he thinks will make Belos happy/laugh because he's seen that hurting people is something that makes Belos happy. EDIT: And in the scenes where the Collector thinks he's alone, the only thing he thinks about is getting out of the mirror to play and worriedly thinking Belos might not let him out after all.
My personal take right now is that Collector is a child god who is disconnected from ideas like mortality - being (presumably) an immortal, they might not even know what death is and genuinely believed that slaying the Titans was some kind of game, thus not understanding why King's father hid him away. Kinda like knocking over chess pieces on a board. He has a parallel in King there; this is very similar to how King played with his stuffed animals, so maybe King can teach him the difference. I'm happy to be proven wrong and I love reading all of the different interpretations of the character because he's so interesting, but I think you can strike a balance between him being a kid and not knowing what evil is, or being chaotic evil and not understanding the consequences of his actions. At the mo I'm on chaotic neutral.

1. this kid is a GOD DUDE. When he started taking apart the Titan’s head I went “holy shit there’s no way they can stop him”. The fact that he can bend matter without even trying is insane.
2. His child-like attitude nails his character design so perfectly. Major Bill Cipher vibes ngl, and I’m all here for it

Okay, based on the new episode, i'm drawing two conclusions.
1. Whoever that is in the first scene here is definitely NOT the Collector we know.
2. This is more a prediction and kind of a hope. Should he survive the events of the final episode, I think the Collector would ultimately end up as the newest resident of the Owl House. He is, for all appearances, a misfit, and you know what Eda says about misfits.
That one in the first scene was probably The Grand Huntsman.

For those of you who say that The Collector is evil because of what he says about the draining spell (“I wanna play and see everything go AUUUGGHHHH!”) and the Grimwalkers (“I’m starting to think you make those things just to destroy them!”) seems to be viewing this from a point of view that can’t be applied to The Collector. You’re viewing him through the eyes of not only a formal operational (adult-level) moral standard, but also a mortal one. It’s important to note that at the age The Collector seems to be (6-8 years old, considering his emphasis on playing rudimentary games like Hide n’ Seek and the importance he places on pinky swears) is one in which they haven’t developed their capacity for empathy yet. They cannot consider their actions and how they pertain to others because they don’t know how to empathize with others. Think about it like this: The Collector thinking that the draining spell is a game (a lie most likely told to him by Belos) and him looking forward to seeing it work is the equivalent of watching a little boy crash toy cars together. They think it’s cool and fun, despite the action itself being a tragic thing irl. That’s why he’s chaotic neutral at best: he’s an overpowered child that thinks he’s playing a game that can’t consider the consequences of his actions.
I totally agree this cause everyone keeps on treating him like he isn't a 6 year old in a god's body. Yes he's sadistic the equalvalient to playing with toys is litterally killing witches and demons. Around that age 5-8 you're still learning about empathy and all that

This is something i rlly wanna point out like others comments have said. Presumably there are 2 collectors, one being the huntsman, and the other being well the collector. We know this is fact as there are somehow two mirrors on the opposite ends of the demon realm, the boiling isles and the trappers isles. This also might explain why so many depictions of the collector are inconsistent with each other and display different color palettes. Notice how the first time we see the holographic mural from the mirror belos rubbed on for the first time it projected both yellow and grey, yellow being the color present in collector, not grey with brown eyes. Another aspect is how the one seen in the titan trappers isle looks more grayish blue, but then the cloth uses the colors of black and purple, just like collectors shadow form. This might indicate that huntsman and collector are two entirely separate beings, but one of them same. The huntsman in the owls beast vision seems to have a motif of bright yellow face, but such a slim build and his cloak colors more fitting of shadow collector, and it seems to intentionally trying to capture the owl beast for some unknown reason. Yet the collector we see in the finale has no memory, connection, or makes mention of that, nor does his appearance reflect that of the huntsman, his entire clothing is black and white with light purple, and a hat almost resembling a hood. Even the name are simillar yet imply two different things. Collector perhaps focuses on collecting friends, as if u think about it making friends are like collecting things, they’re unique and different in their own ways, which is the reason why collectors like to do what they do. Whereas a huntsman is someone who likes to collect from their hunt, think of it like enjoying the thrill of it and hunting their reward as a prized collection for their satisfaction or hunting for their personal collection. They both have something simillar which leads me to a bigger theory. What if the “child from the stars” was the collector, however once they reached the demon realm, they tried going around being destructive and causing havoc as they weren’t human nor witch, they dont learn about that presumably. I think the titan saw this wreck less behavior committed by this outer space or extraterrestrial entity, and made sure it would never return completely to its former self or full self. To me atleast, the titan aka kings father couldve separated the collectors main form into multiple stages of life, explaining why the huntsman and collector act so differently, as perhaps theres more collectors out there, referencing why theres mirror shards surrounding his prison in the first place. Perhaps he couldve been split up into a baby, a child, a teen, a adolescent, and an adult, explaining how both of them appear the same in the finale and their first appearance, yet seemingly having nothing same about them in personality or behavior, as the collectors former self was split up by the titan to be trapped in glass prisons so they could not go full on berserk or total havoc again. Maybe this is why the huntsman has already been broken out and why many mirror shards surround the collectors original pokeball prison, because the huntsman wants to retrieve and reunite with all split up versions of himself, breaking their mirrors or freeing them but quickly absorbing them to be whole again, to have total control over things. Hence why perhaps the reason why so many titans are dead or gone by now was because he went out on a rampage against the titans as an act of revenge or out of fury for them trapping him in the first place. Maybe thats why hes gone, hes already out on a mission to find the last one aka the collector to reunite with them, perhaps he already senses his other self being freed from their own prison. Ik this is a weird whacky theory but its the best guess i can think of as to why so much versions of the collector exist yet their designs are totally different or they don’t relate to each other at all
I also wanna add this, the illuminating crescent on the huntsman appears much more thinner and smaller compared to the collector, presumably the other versions of them have different stages of a lunar eclipse or solar eclipse pattern on their face, the huntsman being the process where its near completion or where its about to go away, and the collectors stage more on the moon going away or the moon about to invade
But if the mirror from the Titan trappers world is for a different collector why did it still form a connection between the boiling isles collector and king

since the collector is a deity of some sort with the mind of a child he's probably desensitized to death and destruction, and only really has a basic grasp of morals (keeping promises, being friends), other than that they seem purely chaotic
What struck me the most is that the collector has been freed twice. Two plates in which he was sealed in. Which means, kings father's last moments were sealing him away, if the first we're making sure king was safe
Something I don’t think a lot of people know & what I find quite interesting, is that The Collector is referred to as “a child from the stars.” Which means that they’re a child of chaos. It also explains their immense power, immortality, the fact that they’re a bit off the rails, & their face markings. People like to say they have the power OF a god but in reality, I’m almost certain they ARE half god. Not just half god, half CHAOS!!!

It definitely was. Their voice was a little different and deeper, so less of a kid's voice. Also their appearance is taller and more formal. Like how they're portrayed what the collector talks about his siblings in the finale.

I feel so bad for the collector. They're just a child who's been alone for who knows how long, and they just want to play. They're a child who just wants to play, and no one (except king) wants to play with them. When Luz actually kneeled down and talked to them like a caregiver would talk to a child, they felt like an actual person, rather than a tool or god without emotion. I can relate to them, honestly.
