- A very bizarre mix for this month official creature design. I have no idea what happened... but it's colourful at least!

Same with me, I saw fairy and clicked
I feel like this animal would be kind of a mix of a flying and sea creature (like a more extreme version of those flying fish). Like maybe during the night it comes out of the water and flies around like a bat but when its morning time it'll go back under water to hide under rocks (I imagine when its underwater its wings act like manta ray wings, so cute).
Edit: also I think its name should be Painted Sea Nymph

okay the porcupine mix up was actually really understandable!! a vaquita is a porpoise which sounds quit a lot like porcupine.
It could totally be a flying Amphibian! Living in tropic swamps, it lays it's eggs in the well hidden ponds and when the babies hatch, the mother brings them onto a tree and teaches them how to fly.
Also, if you finish that sketchbook you should definitely do a tour! It's so pretty and colorful up until now ♡.♡

Fun fact! Vaquitas aren't actually dolphins, they are one of the seven species of porpoise! The difference between porpoise and dolphin are their snout and body shape. They are also endangered.

could you do a video explaining color design more? I can't find any videos explaining the color theory of body parts very well like how you choose what color combo best fits the character and what should be what color on their body from the combo
The way you combined the animals makes it look so adorable even though the animals used are “unique” looking.
The reason its called peacock is because of the bright, jewel like colours, all shrimp, lobsters and things like them have tails like that. Also, OMG I LOVE the way this creature have turned out!!!
i like to think the things on the side of it's face are air sacks for when it's in the water, and water sacks for when it's on land and in the air. one ensures it can swim for extended amounts of time without needing to come out for air, whilst the other ensures that it does not have to constantly stay on the ground for water.
I think this creature is only as big as a barn owl and fast flyers, lives in both sea, air and able to crawl abit on land. It soars the sky to look for food in the sea and they also have echolocation if they are above water and glow in the dark, they catch small fish and having scaly wings allows them to fly right out of the water without having wet feathers as a problem. It is a cheeky plus friendly and befriends many other creatures around it.
Thats how i would describe it. 😂
Oh and maybe call it something along the lines of Ocean Rays, Ocean Falcon or Sea Fairy.

I love watching bat videos, they're mostly bat carriers rescuring bats mostly fruit bats and they're really eye opening and educational and sometimes sad to watch and sometimes fun to watch but Really loved this creature you drew :3

The peacock mantis is really freaky but the colors are so vibrant and colorful. I love the pose and colors you used.
I think it's called a wisp, and a group is either a murmur or a hush.
Fairy sea flyer. I like the idea of it being able to fly and swim, though I imagine it swims better.
The first tiny sketch of the creature looks light Toothless the Night Fury ❤️
I imagine that it uses its tail to propel itself and the wings and fins/feet to turn super fast. Like, it can change directions faster than any other marine life. I also think it uses its thumbs to climb out of the water to catch insects, but can only fly from there because of the fins on its feet. Love it!

It would be cool to have the creature be aquatic. So the wings could help it swim through the water like a dolphin with fins!
This is undeniably late, but I wanna add in my own opinion of the creature :)) I'd like to think that it's a water creature, but uses it's wings to navigate easily (or easier, whichever you prefer) through the water, but also can be used to stabilise themselves in the air when they jump out of the water (yes, like flying fish). Then, for the antennas(???), they can be used to detect predators around them. I don't know how, I'm not a science person. Back to swimming, their tails along with the flippers among 'em can even make it better. I also like to think that they could camouflage quite a bit because of their colors.

I could imagine this being like a bird living near the beach in a Caribbean setting, that lives from eating crabs and fish and maybe also raises its young near the water. It could also easily be a water creature that has the ability to fly and go on land

Love the colors on this one and agree that adding colored pencil helped them pop. I believe if you wanted to make it a bit less "messy" as you stated in the video; changing up the pose would help.
this creature actually reminds me a lot of insects, especially colourful moths, idk i just feel like it would be an interesting insect
Based on the anatomy, I'd say it would be either semi-aquatic or aquatic. The fringes on the head are reminiscent of an axolotl, and the antenna personally remind me of a catfish's barbels, and the extra propulsion gained from the wing structures on the feet, it would be quite the nimble aquatic predator of possibly smaller fish and soft-bodies creatures. In the terms of name recommendations, I'd like to suggest the *Fringehead Fairy Drake*

for a name is was thinking Bright-flier, Sea wanderer,
Water and land, it can use it's wings to swim and fly. It rather flies than walks, since the feet are a little weak.
It uses clicking noises (Vaquita part) but also small squeaks(bat part)
I don't know but this is what i came up with

I only watched this video now but it really makes me think Glowing Sea Bat. Like many deep see creatures it seems blind but can be capable of bioluminescence. It's beautiful!

I think it should be called the orchid wyvern or banshee Webern. Orchid comes from the fact that the scales from the mantis shrimp make its wings look like petals and the banshee comes from the bat influence and how bats use echolocation. It could live in freshwater ecosystems hunting small freshwater fish and mammals (being that it’s small) and could be similar a bird of prey. I think that it could also use its shiny, multicolored scales as a defense mechanism by blinding predators with its scales (since they look like they’d be reflective). It would be especially effective if this creature was nocturnal (being that it has large eyes and is based partially on a bat) because the intense light is something that nocturnal animals are highly sensitive to. Just some thoughts.

The beetle dragon would be a nice name! Or peacock batdragon like the batmobile 😂 maybe it has like invisibility powers because it can camouflage itself the same way those colors that humans can't see is invisible? Love this creature... definitely an air creature because it looks like feathers
Vaquitas are my favorite animal, so I'm just going to comment some things about them.
Vaquitas are endangered! They are the most endangered sea animal in the world, with scientists estimating there are only about 20 left. They are small Porpoises native to the Gulf of Mexico, and only there, no where else in the world. The reason they are endangered is quite sad, they are the same size as another endangered fish, the Totoabo, which is illegally caught in gillnets and sold on the black market. Since the two are the same size, Vaquitas are more than often caught in gillnets and end up drowning. It is to the point where scientists get excited over a corpse of a vaquita because it proves they are still here, which is sad. If anyone wants to donate, I highly recommend Sea Shepard, which is actively trying to save the vaquita.

They should be called the fairest death fairies and since their part dolphin and part bat their echolocation should be so strong that it has the power to paralyze people or possibly shatter their eardrums, and that cute mouth that you mentioned earlier with a razor sharp teeth would be perfect

The vaquita is a species of porpoise. they are critically endangered to only 15 last year. They are not directly hunted but get trapped in illegal netting, when illegal fishers fish for totoaba (a fish) for traditional medicine. Causing both the cute small vaquita and totoaba to be endangered.
I know you said you arent super happy with this one but i love it??! Especially calling it a fairy dragon makes me so excited,, I def prefer imagining as a sky creature rather than sea because of that pff

I believe this creature would be an aquatic cave creature because the vaquita and peacock shrimp are aquatic and bats generally love in caves that are mostly moist

Name idea: gypsy Sea Dragon? When you were putting in the darker colors made me think of the word gypsy.. probably because of the orange and the darker blue/purple

@@DinaNorlund Ohh that's tricky.. hm I would even click on it immediately if you would just write "creature design" in your thumbnail :D Maybe just put some pics of the first two animals and then you blur the third one or put a question mark over it or something like this.. oh well it really is quite hard to think of something creative and interesting :D
@@JuliaDeis I tried a few options with my Patreons and I've updated it! I think I might have found a middle ground? It's more enticing since the drawing is smaller/more cropped and you get the sketches to! I tried with the pictures of the animals but it looked.. tacky haha. It's hard to please both people like me who like the art and people who want to be entertained by the surprise
