I’m glad people voted for this and I tried it, as I was pleasantly surprised! Yeah it’s not easy mode go everywhere, but it felt capable of handling itself, I’d take it over the Derry 4520 any day! The Derry might have the edge on steering, but personally I’d rather be able to drive up a hill, than have good enough steering to turn around easily because I can’t get up the hill lol! If the Derry had this engine then no doubt it would be much better! I almost don’t blame the Derry, it can’t help that it’s been hopelessly underpowered but yeah, I think this is decent enough and can do most jobs you’d throw at it!

35:00 I think mudtires are actually meant more for deep mud, for that hill, I think something like offroad tires would be the best (so the tires that have "excellent" on the dirt category, I THINK?)

EightSeven6 yeah I barely know myself with all these tyres lol they’ve done a much worse job of explaining the differences, than they have of making differences, the tyres are very well done and nuanced and all sorts! It’s just there’s so little info in the game to know! Personally though in the end I just find I’m never caught short with chained, whereas I am occasionally with muds or others, even if it’s my fault and I’ve just gone to Alaska, but still, I can accidentally leave chained on in russia and there’s no problems so it’s lazy of my really but I just stick to chained lol! When I find somewhere I can’t get I’ll be sure to pay even more attention to them lol 👍🏻

The steering is a bit slow for how fast it can go but once you get used to it it’s really not bad, and if you go flat out into a tree or lamp post, it doesn’t even take engine damage! @@itsmrlonewolf happened the same thing to me with this truck, sold the P16 when going to Alaska and found the Cat740 not that useful. So I jumped to Rusia and give this one a go. I was very suprised to find how steady and strong it is and how the big nose is not that bothersome. Even pulling the big semis on icy asphalt without chains, I found it capable enough! A minor critique on Kolob´s mud tires, there is this spreadsheet on reddit, of datamined numbers for tire stats. It will certainly help you out with your tests, as I find it quite accurate in my experience i.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/comments/gfap16/i_wondered_about_the_differences_between_the_tire/ Long story short you may want to go with the MSH 2 or 3 as they are the most offroad capable, or #4 is you want to have some asphalt grip (I did #4 in Alaska and then returned to the MSH3 in my case) MSH is a no no Cheers!
I can confirm two observations regarding problems you encountered: The first is about the lowboy semi-trailer, and you are absolutely correct that it's a trailer issue that it frequently detaches. I actually see no reason to use that thing over the normal 4-slot-trailer, because the lowboy has one cargo slot less, will easily detach when you hit something or put the semi-trailer at an angle relative to the truck _and_ it's apparently heavier or for some other reason slower than other trailers if I go by contest completion times using the lowboy compared to pretty much any other trailer. I learned to hate that thing during time comparisons on "Heavy Burden" in Smithville Dam: during 2 out of 3 runs it will detach when you drive over those small rocks near the garage at any speed faster than a crawl while _every_ other trailer or semi-trailer goes through there with no such issue. And the second thing is the tyres. If I understand the mechanics correctly that hill-climbing test would mostly rely on the body (or offroad) friction value of the tyres. That's where offroad and chained tyres shine with a value of 3.0 (or even 3.2 for some offroads) while mud tyres aren't completely bad but pretty much suck in comparison. (The ones you chose have 2.0 offroad friction. Others are worse.) I just tried that hill with the MSH III tyres which are a bit better in mud than the MSH I but otherwise identical and almost made it to the top with a lot of "crabbing", but I think just up to the edge is as far as that one goes. I am quite certain that it would have made it with offroad or chained tyres, so yeah, those would definitely come in handy from time to time.
Thanks man I appreciate the info 👍🏻! I thought those goose neck things were dodgy! I used the red gooseneck once and it’s the only time my trailer went mad and flipped in the air for no reason! I was so unsure about this one that I brought the zikz as backup because I just had a feeling it might be a pain in the arse getting it to the quarry! As for the tyres, I’ve been doing some testing and all I know is it’s sad how they’ve done so much detail and nuance between each tyre, even within the same tyre type, and yet have undersold the rating system and just not only wasted all that attention to detail but quite often I think people have the wrong tyres (me included) because the poor good excellent rating system is just too vague! And again I’m not saying chained are the best. It’s just I’ve never had to worry about tyres when I’ve had chained, they’re at least good enough wherever I go, the others are perfectly fine at lots of things, but then there will be that 1 thing, and that 1 thing might cost another hours of messing around lol! Hence why I always pack my loaf! It’s honestly crazy how much time that thing saves me in messing around lol! Well then it eats that time while I’m messing around with it lol! But yeah I’m going to do a tyres video soon! Not to declare absolutes and so on, just show what I’ve found and a few surprises I wouldn’t have called 👍🏻

From personal experience I would say that chained tyres (if available) are a good choice as "safety tyres": depending on the route they might not get you there _fastest,_ but unless you for some reason planned your route through the boggiest, most treeless bog that ever bogged they are a pretty safe bet to get you where you have to be (and if you get stuck it's often the frame sinking too deep into the muck that would turn the way into pure torture even with mud tyres). Depending on the options available for a given truck and the predominant terrain it might or might not be worth it to switch to different tyres outside of Alaska, but in Alaska they are just _so_ useful with the amount of icy roads there and given how good they still are offroad.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to do that myself dude as it’s a brilliant scout, one of the most useful in the game! Well my favourite is the loaf lol for many reasons, but for gameplay and general fun the loadstar is brilliant there’s no doubt! I’m going to start doing some scout reviews! I didn’t at first as they were all so slow but now someone told me about the roof rack bug then yeah they all drive better so deserve a closer look! Not saying it’ll be tomorrow and maybe not my first scout review, but that’s because I’ve not done a scout review yet and it would be a shame to “waste” the loadstar on my first attempt where it’s not as polished as it could be if that makes sense because I’ll be doing new tests compared to these ! I used this truck to transport the construction rig semi trailer in the final contract on Michigan, overall a truck that can go through most obstacles as I managed to take the truck and the construction semi trailer across the dodgy rock bridge crossing the pre dammed lake on Smithville Dam, bit slow though which would have been a pain if I took the mountain road route instead of the rocks.
Yeah I wish I had tried it sooner so I could have done at least 1 special trailer with it! It’s definitely not OP and can go everywhere, but I was pleasantly surprised! It felt better than the other kolob and I thought they’d be practically identical, and if there was a difference I’d expect the other kolob to be better with permanent diffs but yeah I prefer this to be honest! I wouldn’t want to take it up some bumpy hilly mountain, but through awkward routes like zimnegorsk it could have its uses 👍🏻! I’d take it over the Derry 4520 I know that lol!
Yeah me too dude, I chose the 747 one, really didn’t like it, and just assumed if this is the same, but cheaper and has no diffs always on, then it can’t really be that great, so I went with the Derry 4520! This is the last vehicle I tried! And it’s better than the other kolob and the Derry! I’m going to keep it if I can! Haha the 3 tree seal of approval is how you know it’s a quality product 👍🏻! I think this could have done another 3 straight after!
Yeah I was interested with this one too as it was, until a day or so ago, my least driven truck, and I’m glad people voted for it as i enjoyed it more than I thought 👍🏻! I quite like it to be honest! I’d take it over the Derry any day!
Great video and review as always. I just finished up my last few contests thus giving me the shining 1000GS on xbox. :D And ironically enough I used the 74941 to haul my Tayga and Tatarin around Drowned lands to reach those contest starts. My Loaf was sad though as he didn't get to rescue any of those hehe.

I had the 74760 as it reminded me of the D class trucks in MudRunner, what was it called that had the loud whistling turbo, I loved that truck. Called it Whistling Dixie. lol The 74760 reminded me of that truck so I had high hopes for it but was really disappointed. Looks like the 74941 is definitely better.
Ahhhhh the D535 and D537 lol I loved them beasts! Practically the same trucks but yeah they were awesome and you’re right dude I kinda had the same expectations from the 747 kolob and I was very disappointed too! Yeah I genuinely think this is loads better than the 747 which surprised me as the 747 looks a bit sleeker shall we say lol, and had diffs always on etc, but it just caught it’s nose and belly on so much I couldn’t make progress without it driving me mad! This on the other hand, yeah it has a big nose and you will catch it from time to time, it just does so much other stuff to a nice degree that I’m willing to make that trade! It’s nowhere near as bad for catching it’s nose as the 747! I’d love to see those D trucks make a return lol 👍🏻
@@itsmrlonewolf Yea those are the ones. The 747 seemed kinda weak to me as well, while it's not nearly as bad, I did have a few times where the 747 pulled a P12 and just bogged out. Seems like a lot of trucks in this game could use more power. Every vehicle in MudRunner at least had enough power to spin their own wheels. Meanwhile in this game a lot of vehicles seem to just bog down and do as you'd call it, that jiggly tire thing lol
Mud Tires I think are just slightly *faster* thru sticky mud. Do a Kodiak video and test the mud and chain tires with that. Most mud you can just fly thru in top gear with mud tires on that truck, but the chained seem to grip the sticky mud and either flip you over or slow you down a bit.

I have no loyalty to chained other than they never seem to let me down lol but I’m up for trying them all, I almost always go out and test different tyres before I start these videos just so I’ve got the one I like the most when I start! I have to say there could well be a slight speed gain with muds through sticky mud, but it’s never for me atleast, been to the point where I can’t get though with chained in the same gear etc, it just feels the same but yeah maybe there is an extra second to be saved here and there! Surprisingly though I’ve been doing lots of tyre testing and the chained on the Tayga consistently get 5-10 seconds faster times on the container contest in drowned lands, over the custom muds! And it’s a mud map! Chained bite through the sloppy river bank quicker and find grippier mud underneath quicker, meaning it doesn’t even drop out of high mostly, whereas the muds mostly do drop out as they have to wade through the looser mud and burn their way through to the grippier stuff! But the custom muds are more stable for rolling, but if i wanted to beat my time on that contest, I’d use chained! Done about 40-50 runs with each tyre alone and every time chained win! (Assuming they were both clean runs with no crashes of course)! I still have my fastest time with the chained at 2:43!
@@itsmrlonewolf I sold the tayga. I kept getting bored driving it. I'm more a clarkson than a captain slow. So I kept looking away and running it off cliffs or into ditches. I prefer bouncy, loud, obnoxious trucks but I've been that way since I was a kid. I haven't found many hills that I need the off-road box with because of my driving style. Unlike you however, I always manage to obliterate my loaf before I can make it useful.
Seems like a really good all-rounder. Capable, reliable, does the job, the downfalls aren’t a dealbreaker...feels like the Fleetstar of the thicc heavy trucks.

If I get something back in return for that downfall then it’s cool, the zikz for example isn’t close to best truck, but it’s so fun and fast and silly and cheap that it’s great! This thing felt the same, I didn’t feel regret all night for buying it lol! Not saying it’ll be my new truck, it’s slow and I only enjoy slow from time to time but yeah, when I’m in the mood for slow then I’d happily take this thing 👍🏻
I bought this truck early on. I would use it to tow a ramped flat bed with another one winched behind it. It would pull it all along with any issue. When I got to Alaska I used it just crow fly across all the maps to open all the watch towers...
I quite liked this one, I did the big Michigan haul with it and went across the stones in the river no problem. I currently have the flat faced one but the ground clearance is awful and ruins it.
That gooseneck is really only for the oshkosh/derry. Specifically designed for that truck, it's the m1 trailer IRL. A fun easter egg trailer wise in the game tho, the fuel trailer on the first map at the gas station is the trailer from the duel. It's a 1950s chemical tank that they used with a 1961 peterbuilt that I wish was in the game.

I bought the Kolob early, just because I wanted a large truck, but I was sort of disappointed in it, as it had some trouble traversing rough terrain, and it was sooooo slow. I like the slower vehicles, as long as they are competent on mud, such as the slow Azov, but I couldn't get this thing anywhere without a struggle. It looks decent, but otherwise at least for me it was almost useless.
Was it this one you got dude or the other flat face one? I got the flat face one a month or so ago and I really wasn’t happy with how much it clipped its nose or underbelly on stuff! Unless they’ve fixed that then yeah it’s not for me, this however felt better for that, not perfect at all, but it felt good enough to where I’d happily attempt some tougher missions in it! I’d pick this over the Derry 4520 any day, but I’m not sure I could say the same about the other kolob! I will review that too at some point though to be sure!
Deep mud is very she shines. I mean, VERY deep mud, like that flooded road in North Port near the Service Hub. I bought it yesterday for this purpose only - to pull out the Oil Rig Salvage semi-trailer, and the Kolob did the job without any problem. Only don't forget to fit MHS 4 or MHS 2 tires, the first one aren't any good, they suck in mud, really.
I guess I am a little late to the party here... (Love your videos btw!) As I understand the different tires the mud tires actually have worse offroad/dirt handling than the offroad variants (even the mud tires which say "excellent" in dirt), and as the steep hill you're testing in the quarry is dirt (it does not deform when you drive through, ergo it is not mud, but dirt) it makes sense that vehicles with mud tires would struggle up there. Both chained and offroad would probably have better grip up that exact hill (but I have not tested it myself).

I think they look awesome and I’d love to use them more, along roads etc they’re mostly fine, but this gooseneck disconnects far too easily, and someone confirmed the same thing! The other saddle low gooseneck I used once and it started shaking and then flew in the air along with my cargo lol! I just stick to semi trailers now lol 👍🏻
i sold a dlc truck early in the game to buy this one. it's slow as hell, but it really helped me get the ball rolling in my first days of playing. i think i might have quit without it
I think that the colob is good but I prefer it’s older brother the 74760 because it looks more like something that would pull a missile through the Soviet Union . That’s literally the only reason I bought it

So I’d need to drive it again to be 100%! The E7 blah blah blah thing in mudrunner looked like an awesome soviet missile carrier lol! The 74941 is probably the older brother since it is based on a truck from the late 90's while the 74760 is based on a fairly recent vehicle, but I have to agree about the look. I was very disappointed when I tested the 74760 because of the issue with the underbelly. It's the only vehicle that I have ever watched destroy itself all by its own without hitting obstacles (other than flat ground _somehow)_ or falling from height. I am glad the 74941 doesn't have that issue, because it's a beast for pulling those special mission semi-trailers.
Exactly dude towing power on it is great 👍🏻! It even did the 2 quarry hills with no issues! The Derry couldn’t even start the first hill after multiple attempts

Jay Tee no worries dude! Yeah the fuel on it isn’t amazing! Well the tank size yeah, 200 isn’t a whole lot! However there is more to fuel than just tank size or consumption, for example the Derry 4520 has 400L fuel tank, and uses about the same fuel, so yeah sounds twice as good, but in reality, you might be able to go out in the Derry 4520 twice as LONG, but would you get twice as far? And I don’t think it would, the off road dolphin flies along in high range vs the Derry is painfully slow and awkward and constantly dying and needing gear changes etc, so I reckon flying from one end of an off road map to the other, the Azov would probably get as far or maybe even further! Yes you’ll need fuel in half the TIME, but you may have done just as much in that time! Either way though another 100L in it would be great lol! I think it would be bordering on OP if it was great with fuel too lol Thank you dude I appreciate the support on the channel 👍🏻
Jay Tee by the way with the Derry and Azov comparison, it pays off with the Azov the more off road the map is, along a paved road across a map, no doubt the Derry would get further before it runs out, but it burns it going slow over hills and through mud etc whereas the Azov uses that small tank to fly where it’s going while it can lol 👍🏻

I really liked your observations regarding the Azov 5319, so much so is why I asked you about in the first place. I had one for a while, I think I still have it, if not I’ll buy it again. Something about the Derry has never appealed to me so I’ve never tried it. With the videos on YT there’s a lot you can learn and avoid wasting your time and virtual money on trucks that ain’t worth it. I was keeping the CAT and the P16 for heavy duty jobs but after seeing this Kolob 74941 in action I think I’ll maybe sell the other 2. Thanks again.

Just wondering because since the last big update, people on the standard PS4 have been saying about graphics issues, but all PS4 pros were fine, however it seems maybe the pros are getting this bug with the camo, but standard ones are fine? Either way I actually kinda liked it by the end lol but I appreciate it’s clearly a bug! From what I could see the camos looked quite nice lol 👍🏻
It’s Mr Lone Wolf i have the regular one. I haven’t really noticed any graphic difference (but that’s probably because I don’t know shit about graphics beyond “oh, that looks pretty”), I just noticed my PS4 doesn’t sound like a jet engine anymore 😆 but yeah. Honestly these kinds of bugs don’t bother me, a lot of games (even triple A) come out with a bunch of stuff the devs missed and will be fixed in upcoming patches and updates so I’m not really mad.

I don't think the Loaf has some kind of mega-powerful winch. The only reason this car does flip others so good is because of the advanced scout winch and the weight. Any scout truck that is heavier than the Loaf, can certainly do the same and more, like the Hummer H2 for example.
I tried this one but it's so slow with a trailer with cargo. I thought finally i can have a mud truck so it was desappointing to see it's so painfully slow.I know that this isn't a racing game but there's a limit,at least for me. I just can't find a decent truck. if it's not the stearing,it's the fuel,if it's not the tires it's the power :( Thx for the video
the 1st MSH 1 stock tires only look good, in reality they are the worse of all, with grip coefficient of 2 in mud against 2.4, 3 and 3.2 that other sets have.

This is one of my favorite trucks in the game along with the navistar and the tayga I’ve managed to get the tayga completely stuck,went through the same spot with the kolob didn’t get stuck same with the navistar didn’t get stuck but I also haven’t managed to flip the kolob I use the kolob daily I’d rather take this than the tayga it’s a beastly truck and it’ll haul anything through anything it’s my personal favorite with the best upgrades it can have I haven’t gotten it stuck anywhere even with the nose if the nose clips the rear wheels just keep pushing it through I use this truck for anything it’s just my opinion but this truck can’t really get much better🤷♂️

Then again, I like the flex-ey Derry, too. Granted, I'd probably like it better if it wasn't such a 🐌, but patience is a virtue, right? Stay calm, and press on!

I’m glad people voted for this and I tried it, as I was pleasantly surprised! Yeah it’s not easy mode go everywhere, but it felt capable of handling itself, I’d take it over the Derry 4520 any day! The Derry might have the edge on steering, but personally I’d rather be able to drive up a hill, than have good enough steering to turn around easily because I can’t get up the hill lol! If the Derry had this engine then no doubt it would be much better! I almost don’t blame the Derry, it can’t help that it’s been hopelessly underpowered but yeah, I think this is decent enough and can do most jobs you’d throw at it!

EightSeven6 yeah I barely know myself with all these tyres lol they’ve done a much worse job of explaining the differences, than they have of making differences, the tyres are very well done and nuanced and all sorts! It’s just there’s so little info in the game to know! Personally though in the end I just find I’m never caught short with chained, whereas I am occasionally with muds or others, even if it’s my fault and I’ve just gone to Alaska, but still, I can accidentally leave chained on in russia and there’s no problems so it’s lazy of my really but I just stick to chained lol! When I find somewhere I can’t get I’ll be sure to pay even more attention to them lol 👍🏻

@@itsmrlonewolf happened the same thing to me with this truck, sold the P16 when going to Alaska and found the Cat740 not that useful. So I jumped to Rusia and give this one a go. I was very suprised to find how steady and strong it is and how the big nose is not that bothersome. Even pulling the big semis on icy asphalt without chains, I found it capable enough! A minor critique on Kolob´s mud tires, there is this spreadsheet on reddit, of datamined numbers for tire stats. It will certainly help you out with your tests, as I find it quite accurate in my experience

Long story short you may want to go with the MSH 2 or 3 as they are the most offroad capable, or #4 is you want to have some asphalt grip (I did #4 in Alaska and then returned to the MSH3 in my case) MSH is a no no

I can confirm two observations regarding problems you encountered:
The first is about the lowboy semi-trailer, and you are absolutely correct that it's a trailer issue that it frequently detaches. I actually see no reason to use that thing over the normal 4-slot-trailer, because the lowboy has one cargo slot less, will easily detach when you hit something or put the semi-trailer at an angle relative to the truck _and_ it's apparently heavier or for some other reason slower than other trailers if I go by contest completion times using the lowboy compared to pretty much any other trailer. I learned to hate that thing during time comparisons on "Heavy Burden" in Smithville Dam: during 2 out of 3 runs it will detach when you drive over those small rocks near the garage at any speed faster than a crawl while _every_ other trailer or semi-trailer goes through there with no such issue.
And the second thing is the tyres. If I understand the mechanics correctly that hill-climbing test would mostly rely on the body (or offroad) friction value of the tyres. That's where offroad and chained tyres shine with a value of 3.0 (or even 3.2 for some offroads) while mud tyres aren't completely bad but pretty much suck in comparison. (The ones you chose have 2.0 offroad friction. Others are worse.) I just tried that hill with the MSH III tyres which are a bit better in mud than the MSH I but otherwise identical and almost made it to the top with a lot of "crabbing", but I think just up to the edge is as far as that one goes. I am quite certain that it would have made it with offroad or chained tyres, so yeah, those would definitely come in handy from time to time.
Thanks man I appreciate the info 👍🏻! I thought those goose neck things were dodgy! I used the red gooseneck once and it’s the only time my trailer went mad and flipped in the air for no reason! I was so unsure about this one that I brought the zikz as backup because I just had a feeling it might be a pain in the arse getting it to the quarry!
As for the tyres, I’ve been doing some testing and all I know is it’s sad how they’ve done so much detail and nuance between each tyre, even within the same tyre type, and yet have undersold the rating system and just not only wasted all that attention to detail but quite often I think people have the wrong tyres (me included) because the poor good excellent rating system is just too vague! And again I’m not saying chained are the best. It’s just I’ve never had to worry about tyres when I’ve had chained, they’re at least good enough wherever I go, the others are perfectly fine at lots of things, but then there will be that 1 thing, and that 1 thing might cost another hours of messing around lol! Hence why I always pack my loaf! It’s honestly crazy how much time that thing saves me in messing around lol! Well then it eats that time while I’m messing around with it lol! But yeah I’m going to do a tyres video soon! Not to declare absolutes and so on, just show what I’ve found and a few surprises I wouldn’t have called 👍🏻

From personal experience I would say that chained tyres (if available) are a good choice as "safety tyres": depending on the route they might not get you there _fastest,_ but unless you for some reason planned your route through the boggiest, most treeless bog that ever bogged they are a pretty safe bet to get you where you have to be (and if you get stuck it's often the frame sinking too deep into the muck that would turn the way into pure torture even with mud tyres).
Depending on the options available for a given truck and the predominant terrain it might or might not be worth it to switch to different tyres outside of Alaska, but in Alaska they are just _so_ useful with the amount of icy roads there and given how good they still are offroad.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to do that myself dude as it’s a brilliant scout, one of the most useful in the game! Well my favourite is the loaf lol for many reasons, but for gameplay and general fun the loadstar is brilliant there’s no doubt! I’m going to start doing some scout reviews! I didn’t at first as they were all so slow but now someone told me about the roof rack bug then yeah they all drive better so deserve a closer look! Not saying it’ll be tomorrow and maybe not my first scout review, but that’s because I’ve not done a scout review yet and it would be a shame to “waste” the loadstar on my first attempt where it’s not as polished as it could be if that makes sense because I’ll be doing new tests compared to these ! So I may do a warmup scout review and get used to it and then yeah I’ll send this beast through 👍🏻!

I used this truck to transport the construction rig semi trailer in the final contract on Michigan, overall a truck that can go through most obstacles as I managed to take the truck and the construction semi trailer across the dodgy rock bridge crossing the pre dammed lake on Smithville Dam, bit slow though which would have been a pain if I took the mountain road route instead of the rocks.
Yeah I wish I had tried it sooner so I could have done at least 1 special trailer with it! It’s definitely not OP and can go everywhere, but I was pleasantly surprised! It felt better than the other kolob and I thought they’d be practically identical, and if there was a difference I’d expect the other kolob to be better with permanent diffs but yeah I prefer this to be honest! I wouldn’t want to take it up some bumpy hilly mountain, but through awkward routes like zimnegorsk it could have its uses 👍🏻! I’d take it over the Derry 4520 I know that lol!

Yeah me too dude, I chose the 747 one, really didn’t like it, and just assumed if this is the same, but cheaper and has no diffs always on, then it can’t really be that great, so I went with the Derry 4520! This is the last vehicle I tried! And it’s better than the other kolob and the Derry! I’m going to keep it if I can! Haha the 3 tree seal of approval is how you know it’s a quality product 👍🏻! I think this could have done another 3 straight after!

I just finished up my last few contests thus giving me the shining 1000GS on xbox. :D And ironically enough I used the 74941 to haul my Tayga and Tatarin around Drowned lands to reach those contest starts. My Loaf was sad though as he didn't get to rescue any of those hehe.

I had the 74760 as it reminded me of the D class trucks in MudRunner, what was it called that had the loud whistling turbo, I loved that truck. Called it Whistling Dixie. lol The 74760 reminded me of that truck so I had high hopes for it but was really disappointed.

Yeah I genuinely think this is loads better than the 747 which surprised me as the 747 looks a bit sleeker shall we say lol, and had diffs always on etc, but it just caught it’s nose and belly on so much I couldn’t make progress without it driving me mad! This on the other hand, yeah it has a big nose and you will catch it from time to time, it just does so much other stuff to a nice degree that I’m willing to make that trade! It’s nowhere near as bad for catching it’s nose as the 747!

The 747 seemed kinda weak to me as well, while it's not nearly as bad, I did have a few times where the 747 pulled a P12 and just bogged out.
Seems like a lot of trucks in this game could use more power. Every vehicle in MudRunner at least had enough power to spin their own wheels. Meanwhile in this game a lot of vehicles seem to just bog down and do as you'd call it, that jiggly tire thing lol

Mud Tires I think are just slightly *faster* thru sticky mud. Do a Kodiak video and test the mud and chain tires with that. Most mud you can just fly thru in top gear with mud tires on that truck, but the chained seem to grip the sticky mud and either flip you over or slow you down a bit.

I have no loyalty to chained other than they never seem to let me down lol but I’m up for trying them all, I almost always go out and test different tyres before I start these videos just so I’ve got the one I like the most when I start!
I have to say there could well be a slight speed gain with muds through sticky mud, but it’s never for me atleast, been to the point where I can’t get though with chained in the same gear etc, it just feels the same but yeah maybe there is an extra second to be saved here and there!
Surprisingly though I’ve been doing lots of tyre testing and the chained on the Tayga consistently get 5-10 seconds faster times on the container contest in drowned lands, over the custom muds! And it’s a mud map! Chained bite through the sloppy river bank quicker and find grippier mud underneath quicker, meaning it doesn’t even drop out of high mostly, whereas the muds mostly do drop out as they have to wade through the looser mud and burn their way through to the grippier stuff! But the custom muds are more stable for rolling, but if i wanted to beat my time on that contest, I’d use chained! Done about 40-50 runs with each tyre alone and every time chained win! (Assuming they were both clean runs with no crashes of course)! I still have my fastest time with the chained at 2:43!
@@itsmrlonewolf I sold the tayga. I kept getting bored driving it. I'm more a clarkson than a captain slow. So I kept looking away and running it off cliffs or into ditches. I prefer bouncy, loud, obnoxious trucks but I've been that way since I was a kid. I haven't found many hills that I need the off-road box with because of my driving style. Unlike you however, I always manage to obliterate my loaf before I can make it useful.

If I get something back in return for that downfall then it’s cool, the zikz for example isn’t close to best truck, but it’s so fun and fast and silly and cheap that it’s great! This thing felt the same, I didn’t feel regret all night for buying it lol! Not saying it’ll be my new truck, it’s slow and I only enjoy slow from time to time but yeah, when I’m in the mood for slow then I’d happily take this thing 👍🏻

I bought this truck early on. I would use it to tow a ramped flat bed with another one winched behind it. It would pull it all along with any issue. When I got to Alaska I used it just crow fly across all the maps to open all the watch towers...
I quite liked this one, I did the big Michigan haul with it and went across the stones in the river no problem. I currently have the flat faced one but the ground clearance is awful and ruins it.

That gooseneck is really only for the oshkosh/derry. Specifically designed for that truck, it's the m1 trailer IRL.
A fun easter egg trailer wise in the game tho, the fuel trailer on the first map at the gas station is the trailer from the duel. It's a 1950s chemical tank that they used with a 1961 peterbuilt that I wish was in the game.

I bought the Kolob early, just because I wanted a large truck, but I was sort of disappointed in it, as it had some trouble traversing rough terrain, and it was sooooo slow. I like the slower vehicles, as long as they are competent on mud, such as the slow Azov, but I couldn't get this thing anywhere without a struggle. It looks decent, but otherwise at least for me it was almost useless.
Was it this one you got dude or the other flat face one? I got the flat face one a month or so ago and I really wasn’t happy with how much it clipped its nose or underbelly on stuff! Unless they’ve fixed that then yeah it’s not for me, this however felt better for that, not perfect at all, but it felt good enough to where I’d happily attempt some tougher missions in it! I’d pick this over the Derry 4520 any day, but I’m not sure I could say the same about the other kolob! I will review that too at some point though to be sure!
only reason I wasn't a huge fan of this truck was that it didn't have always on diff so it tends to need low + even in very light mud
Deep mud is very she shines. I mean, VERY deep mud, like that flooded road in North Port near the Service Hub. I bought it yesterday for this purpose only - to pull out the Oil Rig Salvage semi-trailer, and the Kolob did the job without any problem. Only don't forget to fit MHS 4 or MHS 2 tires, the first one aren't any good, they suck in mud, really.

I guess I am a little late to the party here... (Love your videos btw!) As I understand the different tires the mud tires actually have worse offroad/dirt handling than the offroad variants (even the mud tires which say "excellent" in dirt), and as the steep hill you're testing in the quarry is dirt (it does not deform when you drive through, ergo it is not mud, but dirt) it makes sense that vehicles with mud tires would struggle up there. Both chained and offroad would probably have better grip up that exact hill (but I have not tested it myself).
A chained version of these kinda tyres would be sick mate haha! I wonder if they do that irl.

I think they look awesome and I’d love to use them more, along roads etc they’re mostly fine, but this gooseneck disconnects far too easily, and someone confirmed the same thing! The other saddle low gooseneck I used once and it started shaking and then flew in the air along with my cargo lol! I just stick to semi trailers now lol 👍🏻

i sold a dlc truck early in the game to buy this one. it's slow as hell, but it really helped me get the ball rolling in my first days of playing. i think i might have quit without it
I think that the colob is good but I prefer it’s older brother the 74760 because it looks more like something that would pull a missile through the Soviet Union . That’s literally the only reason I bought it

So I’d need to drive it again to be 100%! The E7 blah blah blah thing in mudrunner looked like an awesome soviet missile carrier lol! @@itsmrlonewolfI would agree that it catches its nose pretty much all the time but when I used the 74941 I had trouble with even small slopes when I used it to carry the oversized cargo trailers. but I felt like I wouldn't use the 74760 that much so I went for looks and just put up with it catching its nose every now and again.
The 74941 is probably the older brother since it is based on a truck from the late 90's while the 74760 is based on a fairly recent vehicle, but I have to agree about the look. I was very disappointed when I tested the 74760 because of the issue with the underbelly. It's the only vehicle that I have ever watched destroy itself all by its own without hitting obstacles (other than flat ground _somehow)_ or falling from height.
I am glad the 74941 doesn't have that issue, because it's a beast for pulling those special mission semi-trailers.

However there is more to fuel than just tank size or consumption, for example the Derry 4520 has 400L fuel tank, and uses about the same fuel, so yeah sounds twice as good, but in reality, you might be able to go out in the Derry 4520 twice as LONG, but would you get twice as far? And I don’t think it would, the off road dolphin flies along in high range vs the Derry is painfully slow and awkward and constantly dying and needing gear changes etc, so I reckon flying from one end of an off road map to the other, the Azov would probably get as far or maybe even further! Yes you’ll need fuel in half the TIME, but you may have done just as much in that time! Either way though another 100L in it would be great lol! I think it would be bordering on OP if it was great with fuel too lol

Jay Tee by the way with the Derry and Azov comparison, it pays off with the Azov the more off road the map is, along a paved road across a map, no doubt the Derry would get further before it runs out, but it burns it going slow over hills and through mud etc whereas the Azov uses that small tank to fly where it’s going while it can lol 👍🏻

I really liked your observations regarding the Azov 5319, so much so is why I asked you about in the first place. I had one for a while, I think I still have it, if not I’ll buy it again. Something about the Derry has never appealed to me so I’ve never tried it. With the videos on YT there’s a lot you can learn and avoid wasting your time and virtual money on trucks that ain’t worth it. I was keeping the CAT and the P16 for heavy duty jobs but after seeing this Kolob 74941 in action I think I’ll maybe sell the other 2. Thanks again.
On PS4 I can paint the whole thing whatever color and then there’s multiple camos, like a desert camo and forest camo.
Weird. A few weeks ago I bought it just to try it for a bit and I couldn’t change the camo on the PS4. Guess they added that in the new update.

I haven’t really noticed any graphic difference (but that’s probably because I don’t know shit about graphics beyond “oh, that looks pretty”), I just noticed my PS4 doesn’t sound like a jet engine anymore 😆 but yeah. Honestly these kinds of bugs don’t bother me, a lot of games (even triple A) come out with a bunch of stuff the devs missed and will be fixed in upcoming patches and updates so I’m not really mad.

I don't think the Loaf has some kind of mega-powerful winch. The only reason this car does flip others so good is because of the advanced scout winch and the weight. Any scout truck that is heavier than the Loaf, can certainly do the same and more, like the Hummer H2 for example.

I tried this one but it's so slow with a trailer with cargo. I thought finally i can have a mud truck so it was desappointing to see it's so painfully slow.I know that this isn't a racing game but there's a limit,at least for me. I just can't find a decent truck. if it's not the stearing,it's the fuel,if it's not the tires it's the power :(

the 1st MSH 1 stock tires only look good, in reality they are the worse of all, with grip coefficient of 2 in mud against 2.4, 3 and 3.2 that other sets have.

Haha exactly lol but it uses so little fuel that it goes for hours really, and taking 20L from another truck they barely notice and that’s a quarter of your tank back! As for the engine, I honestly can’t remember a time it’s been in the red, and tried to stall on me! Even in my last video with the loaf ANK rescue near the end, it does all that with a heavily damaged engine! It’s a beast lol 👍🏻!

This is one of my favorite trucks in the game along with the navistar and the tayga I’ve managed to get the tayga completely stuck,went through the same spot with the kolob didn’t get stuck same with the navistar didn’t get stuck but I also haven’t managed to flip the kolob I use the kolob daily I’d rather take this than the tayga it’s a beastly truck and it’ll haul anything through anything it’s my personal favorite with the best upgrades it can have I haven’t gotten it stuck anywhere even with the nose if the nose clips the rear wheels just keep pushing it through I use this truck for anything it’s just my opinion but this truck can’t really get much better🤷♂️
