      Very true, only clearance is the issue, not traction.

    Nice video. Are you going to test drive the new xtrail? I can't find any off road tests on the car on TH-cam. Would be great to see how it performs. Cheers.

    Thanks so much for the reviews super helpful! My Fortuner just got stolen. So I’m looking for something around the 150k mark.definitely going to look into the same model x trail. What to you think of the pathfinder? Can’t find much info on them.

    • @Africasideways
      @Africasideways  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ryan. Thanks. The T31 X-trail is a great option. The CVT auto is weak thou, Manual 2.5 petrol is best option. Strong engine. The Pathfinder is less reliable. Avoid the auto like the plague.
      If you go pathfinder, the manual V6 is the way to go. Depends how much space you need.
      Xtrail with under 150 000km FSH is a good starting point. I'd put proper AT tyres on, make it great on gravel.
      The new shape X-trail is to be avoided.

    Awesome review bro. Do you still have the X-trail? How many kms has it done now & what modifications have you made to it?

      @Africasideways  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks dude, yeah, still got it. Done 185 000km. 2.5 petrol is very strong. no problems. New clutch and monroe front suspension. Went down to 16inch rim, with 225/70 r16. Next set will go for 235/70 R16 BFG. Avoid the CVT auto. Good off-road, but need a 2 inch lift and bash plate to do difficult tracks.

    How can you say about T31 2.0 L, 6 speed Manual, M9R engine turbo????? Can it be good also ?????

    • @Africasideways
      @Africasideways  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes the 2 litre turbo diesel is good in T31, the 2l petrol is underpowered and less reliable that the 2.5 petrol.

      I drive a 2013 2.0 dci awd. Had it for 60 000km now. Just passed 150K km. No issues. The only flaw... is the pastic sump guard. It's K@K. Attaches with plastic clips. First sand you hit it just breaks off. I fitted a few rivnuts and now it bolts on.

    • @Africasideways
      @Africasideways  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ja, mine came off on the first offroad track. Been meaning to get a proper bash plate, but after lift never really touches there.

    • @reneconnan4322

      Where did you source the lift kit from? Any camber issues? CV issues?

    • @Africasideways
      @Africasideways  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reneconnan4322 there's a place in Salt River Cape Town, can't remember the name. Camber all good, CVs are holding up. If you got budget get the spring and coil lift. Spacers are budget fix, I've soon some sold on ebay by the russians,

    What about the 2L diesel option manual with 126Kw/171 Hp ?

    • @Africasideways
      @Africasideways  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fuel eco on the diesel is better, but they require more maintenance. Some people say that levels it out. Service history is key when buying diesel.

    • @dimitristsagdis7340
      @dimitristsagdis7340 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Africasideways Tnx - by the way the auto in the diesel is not CVT as it is in the petrol. But the diesel auto is not available at 171 ps version but only in the 150 ps version which is bad for me.

      @@dimitristsagdis7340 Thanks for the info, interesting to put CVT in one and not the other. sounds a little short on grunt.

      @@Africasideways I think it’s got to do with the fact that the diesel engine is also used by Renault & Co in their small delivery vans etc so it came as a package
