    Many thought that the time for field exploration in the search for human origins was over. Then in 2013, paleoanthropologist and National Geographic Explorer-In-Residence Lee Berger made a remarkable discovery: While exploring the Rising Star cave system in South Africa, his team stumbled upon one of the greatest fossil discoveries in the past half century. They found a new species of human ancestor that could very well change the way we think about human ancestry and evolution.

    What you discovered was a primitive jail cell where they were most likely sent to starve to death (Because let's face it, they didn't go down there to live) and probably with guards. I wonder if they excavated the surrounding parts of the cave to look for tools, weapons or even utensils for eating.

    • @windygirl2342

    At 2:25 there is a diagram of the cave. Not to sound perverted or anything, but it reminds me of female anatomy. The superman crawl is kind of like where the pelvic bone is. The dragons back kind of seems like a cervix and the Dinaledi chamber is the uterus or womb. Seems to me like they were giving their dead back to mother nature maybe in hopes they could be reborn or sent back from where we all come from? History is so cool. Maybe I’m just bummed I broke up with my girlfriend, hah! She was a trainwreck, but I sure miss her anatomy.

    Why not use a diamond saw to get better access to the cave? It shouldn`t disturbe anything if used with caution.

      There are layers of bones, grave markers and the creatures that buried their dead there were small enough to fit into the opening, and they used that place to bury their dead.

  • @alexburrup
    @alexburrup 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The comment regarding burials pales into insignificance when realising
    these early hominids must have been able to use fire in order to access
    the inaccessible cave. investigation of the cave for deposits of soot
    must now be an urgent priority.

    The remains don't look at all like fossils the femur had a lumen which would fill in if it were fossil and different colors in the cross-section and the superficial surface .Also there was a clear difference in the color and texture of the teeth and bone which could not be the case with a fossil .

    • @LordTrilobite
      @LordTrilobite 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is incorrect. Fossils look different all over the world depending on what kind of sediment they were buried in. Depending on the environment the bones will absorb different minerals and the colours will also be different. For example, soil and fossils will have a lot of iron in them, causing a rust colour. Different minerals, different colours.

    Is very frustrating to watch this guy get all the credit when he never went into those holes and he is not the one that actually discovered what was in there. Of course he is going all around giving his speeches and how he amazingly found this new hominid species. Yes I understand he was a critical part in making it happen but slow down and give some other people the credit they deserve.
