i went back and forth on my rating on this one. I did love the section of the book that they gave the murder backgrounds. this book packs so much in one book.

I definitely was left with some unanswered questions. I honestly thought this would be a duology but clearly we are getting a third installment.

I think the Red Hot Chili Peppers just got played to death. It must be an era thing. YOUR REVIEW IS A TOTAL SPOILER REVIEW (By The Way). (Hey, isn't that a Red Hot Chili Peppers song?)
I rarely read anything 2X, but I had to read the entire 2 book Alex Stern series over as I felt wildly unsatisfied after finishing Hell Bent with the gap since reading Ninth House the first time. It was such a magical ride, but I just didn't get it and felt let down. So I went and read all again. That worked. I found Ninth House difficult to get into because of the 3 times sequences. Two at Yale, 1) before Darlington dissapears and 2) after Darlington disappears and 3) Alex in L.A. before Yale (mostly). The point where Darlington disappears is really pivotal to the main plots and motivations, as well as the time sequences, so if you know about the flashbacks and you pay attention to Alex's and Darlington's mind sets right when Darlington disappears it helps a lot as there is a lot of side intrigue and entertaining distractions and it is easy to get lost.
