Steve, there was a period of time where Chester lived in the Chicago area. Not sure if the entire band was there though. Met him on a train one time heading out of the city.
I might try finding an ultrasonic frequency that could shatter the aged epoxy into shards or grains. If the vibrational frequency is strong enough it could exploit the breakdown of the older epoxy. Also, one might try exposing the external material to intense cold and then raise the temperature quickly, in a similar manner one. Night try to induce checking into a nitro finish.
Hey man, we need to get in touch with the Klon de-gooping guys :) Although I’m not sure how pretty the circuit looked after it was done? I can’t recall seeing a picture.
Ha ha that table kept giving me flashes in my memory when you talked about removing it. Back in 1985 I lived behind the Hollywood Wax Museum. They threw away a Planet of the Apes scene, the actual ape figures nowhere to be found, but I did find the black boots that Caesar ( the 'bad apes' leader) wore. Unfortunately they were filled with plaster. I chiseled at it for hours, and I still had another boot to do. I just couldn't get it out of the toes area and it had little shards that jabbed my foot. I gave up and set them by the dumpster again.
It is my understanding that the humble transistor is the building blockmof nearly all of out technology. Like, even a brand new iPhone has transistors in it...Literally billions of them, but they are in there.

When future archaeologists discover the guitar in epoxy, they will be forced to believe that it was the highest form of guitar... why else would one make the effort to ensure it is preserved? Thus you need to epoxy a Glarry, a random affordaboard pedal, and a Limp Bizkit CD to throw them off. Did you ever get the idea that Stonehenge was just like a misunderstood Walmart Emporium from 3 BC - complete with Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Men? I have. lol
@60CycleHumcast awesome, I look forward to it! The Surf Zombies performed and they are from my area, so I was happy to see at least 1 video on TH-cam with them sounding good. Keep up the great/entertaining content haha
Ryan, what century are you living in? Payphones dont exist anymore! Also, I think if the future dinosaur scientist finds that guitar, Im sure they can just use their dissection ray or molecular transport beam to get it out in minutes, maybe even seconds. Also, wtf is/was nu metal? I graduated high school in 92?
Really Ryan? You're old enough to have been pedal board influenced by The Edge long before Wes Borland (who when I hear his name, my first thought is always that people are talking about either a horror movie director or a serial killer before I remember who he is).
I have so much say about nu metal. But I'll say this, you're doing a lot of incredibly talented composers and musicians a lot of injustice in this episode. Like, first wave "nu metal" was really something special. Deftones, Rage, Incubus, KoRn, and some other acts were all kind of running in the same circles at the same time. Slipknot isn't really nu metal, either, they're by at least my reckoning, metal if not technical metal.
That epoxy was poorly done Which is a shame. Especially since nobody can play it again Even if you could get it out of the resin, it would need new pickups and tuners, at least, which could be cool, but it would cost you more in time, effort and money than it would be worth, even if you don’t ruin it. Cool idea though…
What if you went bowling 🎳 or exorcism 🙄🥺😃 weight training 🪁or night location playing 🤧🤕 📬 testing equipment 💷or appraisal of stuff 😎sites around town or equipment 😜🌈 I'm best at edition 🚀 auditions of skills 🥈over achievement 😁🤣😭😞🍀
I don't think nu metal was influential in the 90s. The albums that really kicked off the genre were very late 90s or early 2000s. Please do not try to besmirch the entire 90s decade with that trash. People called Korn nu metal retroactively, but they really don't fit the mold. Korn themselves hated that anybody called them that. Bands like LB embraced the label.
It's up there as a top episode for sure, however both of your haircuts are defintiely the best they've ever looked, excellent work guys

I hope you enjoy the pedalboard!!
I wanna see somone save that les paul and play it again...crazy project.
Steve, there was a period of time where Chester lived in the Chicago area. Not sure if the entire band was there though. Met him on a train one time heading out of the city.
The first 7 strings Korn played were Steve Vai Universe models
And a 540s7. It was the only other non-Universe 7 Ibanez made at the time.
"Wes Borland, please come on the show, we don't like Limp Bizkit but we'll Simp Bizkit for you."
Never mind solvents, surely won't be long until we have nanobots that can eat the resin, like they ate the Eiffel Tower in GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.
The Les Paul encased in resin has a Nashville bridge, Norlin era. Probably worth $4,000 assuming you can get it freed.
Looks like it has speed knobs too, Norlin era seems likely.
Or you can buy the $200 one on reverb
remember pre Strymon worship music?
Mr. hand is not a character from South Park. Mr. hand is a character from fast Times at Ridgemont high.

Epoxy resin can be dissolved with the right chemicals. Plain acetone can do it sometimes at least to soften it enough to scrap off.
Bob Stinson wore costumes (sometimes) while the rest of The Replacements just wore their normal unwashed clothes they'd worn the rest of the day.
So you're saying we need to seal a Marshall amp in resin so they can archeology that too?
The nu metal chat was amazing, love you guys! ❤🎉
As a cheap “proof of concept” experiment, you could encase an inexpensive Epiphone in epoxy, and then try to chisel it out.
Just wanted to take moment to say thanks, glad I found you as I take part in the next part of my music journey, elecrric guitars and pedals. Thanks G.

Someone should encase a Klon in epoxy, it’d be the extreme form of gooping the circuit 🤣
The only band I can think of that used 7 string guitars before Korn was Morbid Angel.
Steve Vai pretty much popularized the 7 string before Korn, also Morbid Angel. But yeah Korn also was one the first to tune lower than B standard.
I really dug the Chuck Mosely era of Faith No More.
you can zip tie a strip of wood to the new board. then put velcro on the strip of wood.
It's the guitar from 2112 by Rush?
If they wet down 👎 the streets nighty it could eventually ❄️ snow here 🌨️ incredulous 😴 Gradius 🪄
I WANNA RUN AWAY
engagement
Nice Cramps vibe on the closing track but do you have an AffordABoard tuner you can send him?

That poor Les Paul...
Long episode, you've spoiled us!! I think we should get mic demos of all the new pedals you get, from drive to phasers and everything in between ;)
No one hates Star Wars quite like Star Wars fans.

"Rage Against the Machine is hippie-Korn"
😂😂
I'm not saying it's not stupid but that guy definitely made a lot on those "vintage" V cases, people were hyped on those
GET THE BEAMER
Face Tat Rat reminds me a lot of X-Ray Cat Trio. Rockabilly lyrics over surf works just fine...

That shirt is so sick
I’m surprised the vintage guitar case skinner didn’t call his business _Buffalo Bill Cases!_ 😂
Google says vinegar will eat epoxy... Or denatured alcohol
SAVE THE ELECTRONIC ORGANS. ALL OF THEM!
Could you guys discuss what you saw and attended at the surf guitar 101 festival for those of us who couldn't make it out there?
@@ryanm9274 that will be next week’s episode;-)

The guitar is probably acrylic "clear cast" encased not epoxy as was the fashion back then.
would that epoxy just crack away from the guitar ?
That's a madalion v ... cool...
Tom's cafe to nu metal?
I am peak Kyle-generation. I wasnt a Kyle but I knew many that punched holes in drywall to Linkin Park
use a heatgun or one of those creme brule torches to slowly melt it away?
It would more burn it and not melt away with no residue left... A black crisp, that's what you get...

the GenZ likes Nu Metal, esp Korn and Deftones
If that guitar is going to be freed, soaking it is not going to be the way forward
I don't think 1475 watts is enough, 2000 minimum. You live in SD & but don't know 100yards = 300' = 1 football field....

Wasnt Steve Vai the first 7 string?
that pisses me off ...epoxy les paul ...that dude was really really really really high....its done
System Of A Down Chop Suey! This party needs a Rick Beato's Top Ten Nu Metal Sus Chords segment
Skinsuit Flying V cases are, ummm, disturbing...

Being a millennial, I fear for the day we get a millennial president
Marvel > Star Wars. *mic drop* Thanks.
Star Wars 4-6, Mando 1-2 and Andor. The rest? Ughh...
Gen X has never had a president so don't get your hopes up for a millenial president!
