This Was HARD !! And Then Something Unexpected Happened

- This was hard! I had worked long hours and days to stack all the firewood as I prep for the winter months ahead… and sometimes we run into a few glitches here and there but we always need to look into the brighter side of things. I also had some issues with my outdoor shower.
This has been challenging years but I can say that I’ve truly enjoyed the journey that has gotten me this far and I am happy to have been able to share most of this journey with you all. God Bless!

Your photography is amazing. You have an eye for detail. Then the way you incorporate the music with the photography leaves me in a relaxed peaceful mood. You are very talented. I am sure you are the hardest working woman I have ever seen. I have thought that pile of wood was so overwhelming. Looks like you still have our reserve stacks outside on the pallets under the tarp, smart lady, you never can have enough. When my chores are done I tell my 2 boys, dogs Jessie and King, daddy needs a beer😁
Although it’s easy on the eyes to watch you, it amazes me how much work you put in preparing for the winter. Your plans for installing a propane fireplace may want to move forward sooner than you planned. You can incorporate a thermostat to the fireplace which will allow you to sleep through the night. This will also cut down on your wood consumption. Have a wonderful day.👍👍🇨🇦

My dad used to just put big enough logs that would burn all night
I don’t know how much all that wood cost but I do know that propane is not cheap
@@One.woman.wildernessI have a Continental stand alone fireplace that's made in Barrie CDVS500P that ignites on battery power and battery powered thermostat. This way it will still heat other than the 120v power fan. I would think they would have a built in model that works without power as well. It's my backup heat 34,400 BTU

I like the idea of having a battery powered thermostat! I’ll have to check around, there’s one place where they sell stoves/fireplace in Burk’s Falls. I plan on going there in the next couple weeks or so.

Good morning, sorry to hear about your troubles, unfortunately it's part of off grid living ,may I suggest a camping shower it's a black plastic bag that heats up in the sun and holds about 3 gallon of water, I have 2 and is enough for a quick shower, just a backup plan, hope you get your troubles behind you soon, I enjoy your videos, have a blessed week, Graylin

Hello Lisette, I know you have been moving the woodpiles by hand, but you could use the 4 wheeler just tie up the handle of the cart to the frame or hitch if you have one, especially trying to pull the cart uphill.

I love wood heat. Falling, sawing, and splitting but stacking is the downside. A great woodshed helps a lot. Wood heat makes heat when we get it for winter and again when we burn it. I try to stay a year ahead in case of physical infirmities. I am not sure if it affects the ergonomics of pulling/pushing the Gorilla cart, but the handle is installed upside down. Bears can be a pain at times.

Sorry to see your water holding tank for shower was leaking & faucet was broke maybe uncle can come over & help get it fixed. There's nothing like a hot shower, but I'm glad to see the quick fix to get a shower. Hello Lisette! Im sure thats a load off your mind getting all the wood for the winter stacked, and sorry about the cistern leaking for your shower, check the quick disconnect fitting if you dont see an obvious leak in the cistern itself.

Hey Lisette,who doesn’t like a good well stacked pile,something so simple gives you joy,I guess there’s a connection.maybe because it gives heat in the cold nights such a basic human need.
Also love the use of the smaller wood as you do see a people who would discard that on burn piles.
My view is if you gonna burn it you might as well in your stove,good return on your money spent.

Hustling all that firewood into the woodshed is a major amount of work, but, given that you are a hard-working woman, you are able to get it done. Don't sweat the small details such as your shower valve that broke the handle, it's stuff that happens! You got this. Winter prep is always a necessary thing in that area.

Good looking produce. Tomatoes look perfect. I had such an abundant harvest last week, more than I could can, so I shared with some folks in my community. My tomatoes had some splits in them from overwatering (Tomatoes are picky critters). We have had two days of rain so no outside chores for now. It is disappointing to have equipment failure but that is all part of living. Pipes leak faucets break but you take things in stride and move on. Keep up the good work and Have a Blessed week!!

If alone there you should get like a 3 step ladder (foldable), you catch a long on its edge and fall by yourself in that shed and that is a huge problem.

Getting the wood stacked and done was a lot of hard work.
As for the shower they make some nice solid brass faucets that can be worked into the shower controls
For your water tank for the shower might have a crack somewhere in the tank or the drain end end has a problem with it.
Maybe a couple of plastic 55 gallon drums are in order for the shower
For your well pump, have you looked into an attachment for a garden hose to be put on it to pump water through the hose and run a length of where you want the water to go.
I like ur big wheelbarrow Lisette perfect year round four wheels are better than one or two also see u chopping gathering firewood for winter season.
You are a survivor. You always stay positive. Small setbacks will be over run by huge strides. Loved seeing you petting sweet Kimber. Thank you for sharing the best and the worst. You are taking care of those dogs so very well. God bless you. Mademoiselle Snow could probably benefit from the "low fat" dog food, if you deem it necessary. She is healthy, but perhaps a tiny bit heavy. I only say this because I love you and love her. Weight wears on their hips so badly in old age. Just a thought. Since i grew up on a farm built in the 1780s, we had hand pumps, in case you didn't know the vertical bar on the end of the pump outlet is to hang your pail on, so you don't lose water. Again, great video and that is a lot of wood you moved. Caio

Putting wood away is a chore but wood heat just feels so good. It is a different kind of heat.
You dtack your firewood so neatly, just like Ro does ours. We save all the little pieces and bark too. This stuff Ro puts in large cardboard box separate from our regular kindling.

The shower faucet controls froze over and were damaged. A common occurrence with outdoor showers if there's water left in it. Easy to replace. Glad you had an alternative method.

Can I make a suggestion for your shower. Find a handy man or a plumber that can hook up a brass and copper shower fixtures for your shower. Plastic will not last long. if your shower house had a metal roof with gutters you could direct the rain into your holding tank. Just a handy man thinking.

Great video Lisette at the start with the nature + collecting the wood sad about the water though hope you get it fixed - about the bear If a bear comes close to your home, scare it away. Loud noises like a firm yell, clapping your hands, banging on pots and pans or blowing an air horn sends most bears running find out where its getting in and put some ammonia down Ammonia is known to have a strong scent that can irritate bears, so they strongly dislike The smell that is so overwhelming that bears will likely turn away from your direction as soon as they take a whiff of it. stay safe, good to to see Kimber and Miss Snow getting out take care.

You harvest firewood for shelter before winter comes. that is hard work of you. you are hard-working. Ontario is a large area there in Canada. My mother's father's father emigrated here from Finland to escape the Second World War to Ontario, Canada and settled there in the Larder lake. small house livehood a near lake and worked in the mines. Lisette does have some history in Wisconsin I believe, and spent a number of years there. As far as Canadian Women, I have met a few along the way, but what Lisette display's in her daily routines and shows off in her abilities and motivation are extraordinary for not only a women, but any human that wants to distance themselves from the mainstream of todays insanities. I'm content with watching her show us her adventures, accomplishments, and even failures from afar. It helps me escape my world for an hour or two a week, and that is wonderful for me and her fanbase.
