I was at Gull lake the previous January, when the snow and ice were thick. The shear amount of snow limited where we could fish, so I wanted to come back in the summer months to try it again.
Gull lake is located in Cass county, MN in the Brainerd Lakes Area. It is over 10,000 acres in size and has a max depth of 80 feet. It it listed as one of Minnesota's best lakes in the Minnesota Sportsman Guide Book. See it here: amzn.to/3XeWFz5
In my experience, it seems like no matter where you fish, you can catch small perch about 5 inches long. I also caught some monster sized rock bass! I wasn't expecting that. Most people seem to fish walleye here. I did catch a couple, but I thought I would see more. There were a few bass and northern pike in the mix too.

A couple big rock bass, teny tiny perch (and a couple nicer ones) and some bluegills for supper. Couldn’t tell if it was a sucker on your underwater cam. Nice bass to finish things off 👍

I've never caught a Rock Bass.....I'm always interested in seeing a critter I've never caught before.....Every lake you fish on are as picturesque as it gets.....I won't even ask how cold it is there with the blizzard I'm seeing on TV!!😎🥶🎣

Fish largemouth on shallow mid-lake flats that have a weed line. I caught a 6+ pounder there July 3rd.

I always like the lure camera and the underwater footage I thought that one weedline would have been great with a plopper

Fun video nice rock bass. What did you use for the perch and blue gills? Looks like a great time how was the campgrounds ⛺️? Thanks From Wisconsin

Hi Robert. We used power bait honey worms for the gills and perch. The campground was amazing, but it was the kind of place with a lot of rules. For example, they were very protective of their grass and had stations with shovels and rakes. Apparently you were suppose to rake out your gravel at the campsite if you disturbed any of the rocks. It was quite amusing. Lots of older folks there watching your every move.
