Thank you for her speaking about her "rage and fury with our medical system"!!!
I am of the same opinion!!

I had two attempts at using Mirena. Both times it ended up embedding in my uterus. Was excruciating getting them removed 😢. This was in my late 30s. Now I’m in my late 40s with perimenopause and fibroids. Desperate for a safe way to control unpredictable flooding periods.

There are a number of other methods to help control bleeding - have a look at our site for some non-IUD suggestions: www.herstasis.com/bleeding-issues/.

I am terrified of getting an IUD. Nothing good has ever come of trying to treat my bleeding. When I was in middle school, I was told it was my age. In my 20s, I was told it was “functional” cysts, normal for my age - seen on vaginal ultrasound. I’m 44 and now it is because of my age again… I’m so old I’m having massive bleeding. So much anxiety over just going to work because of my period. I had my daughter at 26 and the very same doc who I saw for bad periods was called in to assist my OB with a c-section and he asked if I ever had bad periods because I have endometriosis. I said yes, I saw you for it. He was embarrassed, said he didn’t recognize me. That was two years prior (that I saw him). I have endo symptoms like crazy and a thick endometrium on ultrasound. New gyno did a biopsy (ouch) and it was inconclusive. That was at 41 I think. She said oh well, it’s not worrisome. That’s when my old age came up. She wanted to treat it with an IUD. Hell no!!!! After a painful biopsy that yielded nothing and multiple transvaginal ultrasounds (which are painful when there’s already massive pain), my uterus is closed unless someone wants to take the time to diagnose wtf is actually wrong with it. At this point, I have had bloody stools, a colonoscopy that was negative and kidney pain when I’m menstruating. When I tell a gyno I was diagnosed with endo, they completely write it off. I think it’s all connected. My endo was diagnosed at surgery AFTER pregnancy. But… I’m pretty sure it’s my age no matter what age I am. I’m done with it. If endo chokes off my intestines, so be it.

Well, all we can say is "Oh Dear!" my gosh this sounds awful, you are really going through it. If there are any sympathetic gynecologists in your area, they might be more helpful than the medical care you have received to date. Not sure if there is anything on our site that might be informative for you? www.herstasis.com/bleeding-issues/. Hugs from Herstasis.

Hi Prem, Jenna was lucky enough to be able to get a Mirena IUD from her Doctor inserted. The hormone on the IUD releases over time very slowly and work to control the heavy bleeding. If you get one, make sure you ask for pain relief for the insertion process, it will make it easier for you. See more on the topic click here: www.herstasis.com/hormone-therapy/.

Jenna had an IUD inserted which stops you from having your period. You can also learn more about menopause bleeding issues here: www.herstasis.com/bleeding-issues/

We're grateful for your viewership and the chance to share Jenna's inspiring tale of how an IUD rescued her from the woes of extreme bleeding during perimenopause. Have you had a similar experience with an IUD? Share it with us in the comment section down below.

Iud can make things worse at first , I had to continue to use the mini pill for 4 months before mirena kicked in, then I phased out the pill

Thank you for the useful information! How are you finding the IUD after the initial adjustments? I hope you're feeling great and experiencing no other symptoms. Thank you for watching!💕
