      yea slipstreaming is not even close to any of the skating it is much harder. i also loved watching someone learn it. It was so similar to my journey for learning slipstreaming always wanting to hop back on just for a few more trys then one day it just clicked and now i never drive my sparrow like a normal person im always doing some trick its super fun.

    3:50 YOOO!! Also this video should be something that players that don't know what to do look in to, these little movement techs makes the game feel so much more fun once you can utilize them in day to day activities. Just slipstreaming at the start of the Glassway GM to Well-Skating across jumping puzzles in raids and dungeons. Little things in the game, although may not be intended creates another layer of depth.

      @bofa722 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lightlyfriedfishfillets8117 you need to let go of destabilizers when you press the dodge button. You can re-activate them after you press dodge
      Rebinding dodge to a single key or button helps alot. I have Q for left dodge and E for right dodge
      Make sure the side you dodge to is the one that's facing up (assuming youre trying to do a basic sparrow fly)

    • @infinitedeath1384
      @infinitedeath1384 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bofa722I find it easier to press R2 (stabiliser button on ps5) for like a quarter of a second to start rotating but to a manageable speed, and I find that I can use the dodge to gain really good heights. There's also no need to reactivate stabilisers once you are sparrow flying, only after you need to jump off and resummon the sparrow. I don't have always on time btw, just a regular sparrow with 6 dodges.

    Learning complex mechanics like these with precise timing and sequences is what makes games like Rocket League so popular. There is an infinite skill ceiling to a lot of these things and so many players enjoy pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Glad you could accomplish your goals, there is no better feeling than the satisfaction of doing something you once thought you never could but tried anyways.

  • @Nobawde

    what i found when learning to skate was that your button mapping plays a huge part and yes that timing furing your swap to eager. i have my weapon swap R3, so click in right stick long press for heavy and i count to 2 and then to the heavy>jump>shatterdive, works every time. well works in the same way. i knew castle would point that out.

  • @MandrewTheFrog
    @MandrewTheFrog ปีที่แล้ว

    HUGE W and the takeaway you had from all this was on point! We often go after achievements in games chasing that feeling of elation and hype of when we complete some crazy personal goal but after a while, sometimes that meaning can be lost along the way and we don't know why we're playing anymore. It applies to all challenge runs for example in any game that the best reward that gives the most feels is when you're not driven to do something because you want some kind of loot, but you're doing it because you want to, GGs my guy! 👏

  • @QuillC
    @QuillC ปีที่แล้ว

    As a long time d2 player, I just started seeking to learn these techniques in the past two or so months, and let me tell you, much like the vid conveys it's a heck of a peak to summit, and the learning curve is NOT consistent. I went from taking an evening to get okay at basic sparrow flying (mainly just getting a little height) and another to get used to transitioning sparrows while in the air, to nearly a full week (and counting) slamming myself against the cliffsides of nessus failing slipstreams for hours a night. Granted I'm on controller, high frame rate, and I've made a ton of progress on basic slipstreaming, this stuff only *looks* easy when a pro does it, but takes a lot to even begin to wrap your head around. I will say though, it's very worth it, as it's a real fun and challenging skill to build, and the community is top notch. I've made so many friends just hanging out on the red roof, and even the most skilled of fliers will commonly take time to stop what they're doing and offer tips, guidance, and demonstrations, for newcomers like myself out there struggling. Real chill skate park type vibes, been a lovely experience through and through.

    The always on time sparrow isnt needed. I use the micro-mini. It just needs more dodges

    For bubble, well and shatter skating. Pull your sword out first, then do the other inputs. You could wait even a full second with your sword out, then hit the skate. Bubble skate is still very finicky regardless. Could be crazy, but it feels easier to do when at lower frames for me.

  • @ohdeer2069
    @ohdeer2069 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    To all my fellow controller players, perhaps the best piece of advice I kind give for learning to skate is to change the main input method to one of the left side keys, where the emotes are typically. Shatter dive, well, bubble, etc. The default method requires too many buttons or a long hold which just doesn’t work well. I’ve also learned that the timings are just the slightest bit different for each method.
    Shatterdive is easier to learn, but isn’t as fast. Start at shatter than go to well. Also custom match on eternity with the highest super regen.
    For shatter, press heavy attack, jump, and shatter dive at the same time.
    For well skating, I heavy attack and jump at the same time and wait just a split second to activate well. The timing is that you want to use well the moment you leave solid ground.

    • @infinitedeath1384
      @infinitedeath1384 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find that it is infinitely easier to do with the directional pad than the default buttons as well. It feels awkward trying to well skate pressing R2, X and then L1 + R1. I've gotten consistent with it usings R2, X and then Down on the directional pad for shatter and well skating.

  • @frozzle

    Not finished with the vid, but here’s a little tip: It doesn’t matter when you heavy attack, as long as you still have the eager edge buff. If you have to slow down a bit, to line up or get prepared, you’ll go faster in the end.
    For the red roof, you can scale the right side of the mountain by the tree once you take that final jump pad and don’t need to sparrow fly :)

    The place you explored in the EDZ might be for light fall. I’m not 100% sure about this but it could because why else would it be there.

    I miss being able to glitch to the rainbow road to practice slipstreaming, not having that respawn timer was fantastic. No other area really competes for a launch spot to practice. I was always good at sparrow flying but slipstream was a whole ass other beast. It’s hard to explain even in a video that you basically have to ‘feel’ how the antigrav your sparrow floats on grips the air and you have to whip yourself around it in a very specific motion and timing wholly based on your current position, like you go through a whole ass spiderman training arc learning it lol, and then once you get to a certain speed it actually gets easier as you convert the horizontal movement into vertical
    Something about these kind of tricks bring me right back to superbouncing in Halo 2. It’s just so satisfying to pull off movement techs that require you to actively perform something with dexterity and timing, instant reward feedback to your effort it’s the best kind of video game ‘feeling’ for people who love the tactile/immersion aspects. I also learned guitar hero from the ground up, barely playing easy to being able to smash expert ttf&tf at friends houses casually so that’s an interesting connection, a lot of these *are* rhythm based, so the timing/dexterity crossover is intriguing. I think another game that would fit into this category are the Trials games, (or any physics platformer.)

      Mortal Kombat 11 has some counters with a 4 frame window.
      Learning a fighters combos is one thing but reading the opponent to capitalize and punish on their combos is supremely satisfying.

    This inspired me to learn the sparrow techs and so far I've learned how to glide and go straight up now just to refine it and learn to slipstream. It's been a lot of fun and the new season pass exotic sparrow works for this you don't need the raid sparrow. I may be wrong but I don't think the raid sparrow is better than the season pass one for sparrow flying.

    Congrats on learning basic infinite slip, but the journey is not over yet. It took me around 5-6 weeks to get slipping down perfectly. (being able to stay in the air permentally(till my hands get tired) and be able to gain height or lose height when I want to). It is a real good feeling when you finally get the balance of momentum and height down, though it is quite hard to learn.

    that random solid tower is code, so the tower is a solid object in a different area (be that even if its 1000m away in the background) so therefor its a solid object when glitching to it.
