I recently got myself one of these and its a killer guitar once you get used to playing it. Its my first 7 string and first fan fret and it took me a good while to get into it, but once I did its really easy to use and play. The only thing I have found is a I catch my finger on the nut sometimes so a fretwrap cured that issue!
Yes I do have other guitars. I have a ltd snakebyte and a pre se. Both are shorter scale so it feels really weird jumping back to them. The cort is 25" on the high end and I think 27" on the low b string. Iv gotten so used to a 7 string now though as this is my go to guitar over the other two, it's hard to go back to a 6 string. It's a weird feeling.
Jaime bro... I actually clicked the vid and immediately skipped to 8:04 and I was like holy fuck what song is this.. I replayed the video and you said you wrote it. You now have yourself a fanboy.
Incredible axe aint it? Ive been playing for 21 years, tea hing fie just iver 8. One of the top 3 guitars ive ever owned, hope these incredible instruments can get some more attention
I just order one today - it arrives tomorrow. £399 at guitarguitar UK I went for the black aftermath rather than the green, and some Dunlop heavy core strings of course 🤘
Hi Jamie, I'm considering buying this guitar, but prefer the SDBK variant. I have an Ibanez RG7420z, but want to switch to fixed bridge and recently bought the cheap Harley Benton 7 string slantet to try out fanfret, but it's not good enough for gigging in my view. Hence my choice for the Cort (locking tuners, Fishmans). But, I do have one question about the battery for the active mode. Any idea how long a battery lasts (rough indication), and does the passive mode also work if you have no battery? Thanks in advance🤘🏼🎸
I still think my Cort X-Custom from around 2001/2002 has one of the most comfortable necks I've ever played, and I have an EBMM JPX-7 and a Dean USA RC7G these days to compare it against and I still say that. So they've had good guitars at a decent price for a long time now. It's cool to see them getting into the fanned fret game though ;)
Hey Jamie. What did you like more about the KX500 over the KX507? I’ve been considering both but I liked the look of this purely because of the Fishmans. Great vid btw :)
For better sounds, better neck, better quality/price, and better tuning stability, which one you recommend: A: Ibanez RGMS7 B: Cort KX507MS C: Ibanez RGD71ALMS
I bought this guitar. My first multis scale. I have to say that I had no trouble transitioning from standard to fanned fret but I am struggling with palm mutes on the bridge saddles. So much that it turnded me off playing it for a few days. Also the body and headstock are very rough around the edges and full of dents. Unfortunately I bought this on the website from my local guitar shop and had my brother pick it up for me as I was away for work for a while. I can honestly say due to the poor craftsmanship if I had’ve played it in store I wouldn’t have made the purchase. Just curious if anyone else has the same issues.
@@JamieSlays yeah. I assume so. There are far too many for it to be anything but intentional haha. But more so the contour of the body being quite rough. It leaves marks on my arms from rubbing against the rough edges.
i went with a kx307 because, 1. i'm poor, 2. i loved the look of the red with the roasted maple neck and 3. i already have an Epiphone prophecy SG with fishman's
I have one of the first run of the KX507MS, in fact I had one that I had to get a warranty swap on because the top E was almost inaudible using the bridge pickup with the coil split - the replacement they sent me was better but there's still a distinct volume gap between the high E and the other strings. I was curious to know if you had the same experience?
Hey Mate. Great review - I'm still trying to figure out the differences between the kx500 and the kx507 other then pickups and the wood. Do you know if there is anything different? I am torn between those two, since i already own EMGs and Fishmans liking them both.
I was debating this over the Ibanez rgd71alms. It was a close call. I suppose I went with the Ibanez because of the alleged wizard neck, luminescent markers, jumbo fret (stainless steel) and the cut on the corner of the body and lastly I liked the color... Lastly, brand recognition. Was it worth the extra money ? I hope so lol. I did hear that you didn't like the Axion though hmm 🤔
Wait a minute, in all the pictures and videos I saw of this guitar the sides and back of it in wood color, did you paint it or did you buy it that way?
I think they made the newer ones slightly different, I played one of them at my local guitar store like 2 years ago and it couldn't coil split or switch between voicings. That would explain the painted sides too.
Tnx for the short review. Would've been cool to include some close ups of the fret job, a neck shape comparison. Perhaps some clean and crunchy tones and maybe a short text about signal path! How long does a setup for a guitar like this took and most importantly (me thinks!) weather this could serve as a gigging instrument or its a good practice/learning tool. would it fit into a normal guitar case or we need a specific type ? keep the good content up man.
Hey Jamie. First of all. I really love this channel. I found you a couple of days ago. I am thinking about buying this guitar, but i have never played on a fanned fret and multiscale before. My question is. Does it work great as a starter guitar for fanned and multiscale, or would you prefer something else. i. I normally like a good ultra thin C neck, since i don't have the longest fingers :)
I bought the previous model after 10 years not touching a guitar, you get used easy. The problem is about the chug on lower notes, to me the short scale guitars sound kind of "better because more flabby"?! I can't compare honestly, I'm broke and I have one guitar only. But for shure you gonna need to try a lot of single thick strings to find the one you like if you drop tune. I go with Ernie Ball super slinky, replaced the 7th with a 066(Daddario), so 9, 11, 16, 24, 32, 42, 66.
Hey Jamie! Great demo. I’m thinking of buying one of these for my first 7-string! I wanna be able to play heavy seven string riffs! This one a good choice, do you think? Cheers, mate!
The New model is much better than the previous one, in the old one I had to swap the pickup for Fishman Abasi. The fanned frets in the new model have a more gentle curve on the top making chords more easy to do, the older it's much harder but not impossible. Mine unfortunately is neck diving, as the body is swamp ash and is lighter then the neck. Can't find a single TH-camr using this guitar on a strap that will show if has neck dive tendency, on seating you want notice.

I've just bought one of these and I must say, I'm HUGELY disappointed with the build quality and complete lack of any quality control. There are marks/scratches all over the back, there's a lip where the top has been bonded to the body, the surrounds where the strings go through the body all fell out when I changed the strings, the tuning pegs are very loose, the volume and tone knobs are rattling and loose, the pickups are not symmetrical or mounted in the same way....etc etc Luckily, it was on offer at £399 when I bought it. If I'd paid full price I'd have sent it back immediately, not the sort of quality I'd expect for an £800 guitar at all!
Sorry to hear you got really poor one. Been on the fence about this guitar for a few days now, and this is what I've been worried about. It looks like an absolutely crazy deal (Fishman Fluence Modern 7-string pickups are ~£200 alone!), but I can't help but feel there must be a catch somewhere. It seems like a bit of a mixed bag for quality control and being unable to go to a store to inspect one in person isn't too encouraging.
@@MarkAutumn Honestly, I think the quality makes it feel like a £200 guitar at best. The build quality on my Jim Root Squire Telecaster is significantly better and cost the same at £400. There's no way i'd pay the full price for this guitar, not if that's as good as it gets in terms of quality. I will however, say that for £399 it's a pretty good buy. I've put 74. strings on it and tuned it to drop A and it sets up very nicely and sounds great. As my first 7 string and first multi scale guitar, it's perfect for what i'm going to use it for. When the time comes and I start using 7 strings in my band, this will be staying at home and I'll buy a more expensive one instead.
Hey Jamie, everyone here :D
I love this guitar...sounds killer and looks great. I enjoy watching your videos and do learn something new each video
I am very impressed!! 🔥⚔️
That passive sound is like an active sound and the active sounds like active with an OD pedal.
Great run through Jamie! Just picked one up 💯🙌🏼 Had some gear stolen awhile back, so this will be my first proper guitar in a long time.
Can we get a follow up? How has it worked out? I’ve thought about getting one because they’re more affordable than the brands they build for.
