Sir, I have watched so many videos of yours on investing in equity, investing in MF etc. Currently I am investing 50% in both categories. So far my equity is generating 15% while my MF is generating 25%. Please note I started investing in MF since 2 years and in equity since 1 year. I want to know which option is bound to give better returns
Great video and very practical tips. Considering 'time' is the cornerstone of wealth creation, only those techniques prove to be effective which are easy to implement over long period of time. Your video helps in selecting such techniques.
Hey Shankar, First of all thank you very much for all your wonderful videos. I am your long time subscriber and I do have a significant portfolio in US markets too. Probably not completely related to this video. However, would you kindly be able to share which of your investing strategy videos would be useful for markets other than India especially the US markets? Thanking you in advance!
Thank you very much for your kind appreciation. I am glad you like my work. Since I haven't participated or monitored the US market, it won't be right of me to make any comments on this front. Very sorry about this!
What an informative video as always.. ❤ed it and thank you🙏... I'm also trying to simplify my portfolio by learning everyday.. For the time being, I've bifurcate my portfolio (only equity) into 'Core' and 'Satellite'. • The Core contains a Sensex index, a Midcap150 index, a Nasdaq100 index and a Smallcap (active) fund. • The Satellite contains a Midcap and a Smallcap active fund. I hope, in forthcoming days, I'll be able to understand the journey in a better way.
I don't have many products but I have many MF schemes so pretty much on the same boat. The proxy I've used to focus -- I only remember the 6-7 SIPs I do every month as these are an integral part of my core portfolio. This has helped me prioritize, maybe you can try something similar
If one invests 25% amount in 1 Small Cap Fund, 25% amount in 1 Mid Cap Fund and 50% in direct stocks wherein most of them are large cap stocks like Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, HUL, Pidilite, etc. - is it a good strategy for long term investment considering its just 2 mutual funds?
Yes. I do the same. But! Since u r actually looking at the market every now and then, u feel like u made a wrong choice. When the stocks around u are doubled and ur large caps are giving 5% or 10%. It will make u sell and try some luck on others. I suggest u divide it further. Add 25% in flexi cap.keep just 25 with u. If if if only in the market from last 4,5 years. Happy investing.
Would love to hear what are the 4-5 funds in which you've invested and what was rational behind it Also When to exit from fund if it seems non-performing then competitors.

Q1. Shankar can I take flexicap instead of large cap in my core portfolio as flexicap has ~70% in large companies ? if yes then many flexicap have few allocation in international so should I take a separate international fund for mf portfolio? Q2. What do you think *after 10 yrs* will the market give >15% return ? Q3. Will inflation go down in future ?
Hello: 1. I have not come across a hierarchy of funds so can't generalize if a flexicap is better than large cap or if an international fund fits in 2. Post 10 years .. stock market returns will be more than 15% in some years and it will be lagging in other years. Personally, I do my long-term simulations assuming 12% returns from equity instruments 3. Apologies, I haven't done any study on inflation
Sir can u provide any mental framework around Invesment in sectorial or thematic mutual fund if someone does not understand anything about stock but want to tack some hire Riske and want to generate higher return stp or sip way according your nature of manageable investment system or theses.
There is only one key difference. Flexicap allows the fund manager to pick stocks across market caps with no restrictions. Multicaps require that the fund manager keeps 25% of the assets in large, mid and smallcap each while having flexibility to allocate the remaining 25% in whichever cap he/she pleases. Hi Shankar. Thanks for the video. While I must say I am aware of all the seven points, this video helped put that information into a structure and helped with thinking. Can you please do a video on how to best track the performance of one's MF investment, against the fund's benchmark and if there are any credible tools one can use.
