The national media still keeps saying Darnold is playing because mcCarthy got hurt, but Sam was ALWAYS designated as QB1 even before JJM got hurt and KOC was pretty clear and consistent in saying that McCarthy might not play at all his rookie season. KOC had faith in Darnold. He handpicked Darnold to be his starter, he didn't just end up with him. KOC wanted Darnold specifically because he saw the potential. I think he also has a lot of faith in his own ability to coach up QB's.
That story line is equally as annoying as the Falcons supposedly making a mistake by getting a veteran QB at a discount price, and drafting a talented rookie to sit behind him. The Vikings literally came straight out in every instance, saying Darnold was going to be the starter this year. And the Falcons have been proven to have made the right call, by how Kirk has played the last 6 weeks. Yet, nobody in the media, certainly not this show, will acknowledge either of those obvious realities 🤦🏽♂️
Correct, but these national guys fall bassackwards into being sort of correct, because JJ progressed so quickly that he was pushing Sam's starter status before his injury. Not saying he would have unseated him, but he was nipping at his heels
How the NFC West is shaking out is pretty wild. Maybe not #1, but still pretty wild. There's a new division leader every week, it's probably going to come down to the last game of the season between the Rams and the Seahawks to see who gets in the playoffs, and the 49ers are staring down last place and a losing record.
Note to Rich. The only reason I follow the Cowboys is because you won't shut up about them. If you didn't mention them again before September, I doubt anyone would complain.
How the 49ers wasn't mentioned is wild. Player got shot, 2 players lost children, injuries have hit an all time high, a player quit on the team mid game and off-season contract drama.
Until JJ's injury, Sam Darnold was a total afterthought to me. I figured he'd do "okay" with KOC and keep them going but the rookie would start sooner rather then later. Not only did that not happen, the team has seemingly rallied around Sam and makes up for his 1-2 guaranteed Darnold plays a game. To me the fact he's still in a position to potentially steal this division against a 12 win Lions team, after being left for dead in the offseason as potentially the lesser of even the BEARS in that division with a high point of 7 wins, is the wildest journey of the offseason. I put Wilson lower then him by a country mile. You knew the Steelers had a good enough team to threaten for the playoffs and that Tomlin would find a way where he shouldn't. Wilson hasn't necessarily changed the narrative that he's "the future" like how I'm seeing pundits ask if the Minnesota Vikings can afford to let Sam Darnold go. SAM DARNOLD. Seriously!
About the only one of these that you can't tie to coaching being the biggest factor is the falcons, because there is no denying that Kirk has not fully recovered from the achilles injury yet.
The bears only had a good record at the beginning of the season and it was because they hadn't played any hard teams. Once that stepped up and they played their division rivals is when they started losing. It's not a freak accident
Listen doggy; love your show, but I have to tooootally disagree! Sam is the NFL Story hands down. Went from has been to MVP candidate? ShhhhhhhuuuuuuutUP!!!
how are bears jets cowboys broncos and Steelers not just 1 2 3 4 5 ?? on the "wild" factor. then the others. ..... i guess wilson could be the broncos/Steelers in one...
The Bears? They played scrubs at the beginning of the year so the NFL could help Caleb and them, then they played real teams and were exactly what everyone with a functional brain thought they would be.

You nailed it. Skol vikings 💪
That's just Rich's Michigan Fandom leaking all over the place

Not saying he would have unseated him, but he was nipping at his heels
@@HawgWyldFishingthey were smart to get Penix. There is no good argument for Kirk.
Darnold is #1 honestly. Crazy to think that he is somewhat in the MVP convo and he was left in the dust for the last three years
sams always been decent just had to play for panthers and jets and back up purdy 1st before he got on a real team.
Skol Vikings

Sam Darnold reinvention has been amazing
Darnold should be number 1
How do you not mention the entire Jets organization
Lol how is bryce young higher than darnold on this list? They are gonna finish with 4 wins maybe?
😅 I agree 100%
Rich I loved this segment. Great stuff Rich why I tune into your show on You Tube.
Nice lil recap segment, let's do it again after week 18 when all of the games in the season have been played
Baker Mayfield's road to redemption.
Impressive indeed
Wasn't that last year?
last year... but he is balling even more this year. i am riding with him for my fantasy playoffs.

So number one is Kirk not penix- penix hasn’t done anything yet
The bears only had a good record at the beginning of the season and it was because they hadn't played any hard teams. Once that stepped up and they played their division rivals is when they started losing. It's not a freak accident
They lost a lot of close games and a ridiculous Hail Mary.
A good coach makes them a real team.
I really expected the Jets to be on there after last year going to crap and this year NEEDING to perform, only to fire the HC then GM.
The Cowboys All In Season of Failure 😢
He didn't say who shot the squirrel
Even Darnold and the Vikes, still get disrespected on some dumbass list like this
I called darnold and took him in superflex keeper as my backup after jj got hurt. They should pay or franchise him
Justin Tucker snubbed
I think Tua getting hurt again like he did would have been an honorable mention.
Now we know what happened to P'Nut the squirrel.
Rogers not on that list??
Is this a top 5, or just 5 wild journeys? Because the order of this list is pretty nonsensical.
All in on squirrel
Young over Darnold????? Take this L rich 🏆
🏈RW3👍🏼
Come on the Jets epic collapse and the fallout has to be on this list. They're picking players based on the owner's teenage son's Madden knowledge!
Seriously Rich . . . ? Penix . . . #1?
Squirrel!
Listen doggy; love your show, but I have to tooootally disagree! Sam is the NFL Story hands down. Went from has been to MVP candidate? ShhhhhhhuuuuuuutUP!!!
weirdest season ever...
Wild journey: Anthony Richardson!
how are bears jets cowboys broncos and Steelers not just 1 2 3 4 5 ?? on the "wild" factor. then the others. ..... i guess wilson could be the broncos/Steelers in one...
Vikings Die-Hard Fan Nick who picked the Vikings to have a 15-2 win season. So Darnold doesn't belong here.
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Lame list shud have been exactly opposite order..
You forgot Jerry jones live the squirrel brain the most.
