For sale is a 1961 Mercedes 220SE Cabriolet. A real estate developer purchased this Mercedes in 1982 at Bergstrom Motors in Santa Cruz, CA. It was a birthday gift for his wife at the time. His wife did not drive it much, but they kept up with all the maintenance and drove it just so it wouldn't sit for long. This vehicle is stunning inside and out. The previous owner had this car for 40 years. It is believed to have had only two owners total. This Mercedes was never restored. They purchased this vehicle in this condition 40 years ago. It has never sat a day outside, and has never been driven in the rain. The last time it had a major service was in 2015 done by Monterey Couch work. Full brake job and minor engine work. All the records to all the services done in the last 40 years are available in the video. This 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220SE cabriolet was finished in ivory over red leather and is powered by a fuel-injected 2.2-liter inline-six paired with a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission. The exterior is very straight and free of any accidents or rust. There has been nothing done cosmetically since the previous owner bought it in the 1980s. The paint still looks very exceptional, and would be just fine as a driver.
The interior is in excellent condition. Check out the video and see for yourself. It has a lovely brown top that looks really good. You can tell this Mercedes did not go out of the garage much because the car held up extremely well through the years. In terms of rust I would say it is almost RUST FREE. There is absolutely no real rust anywhere besides the spare tire area. Mechanically It runs and drives great. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The motor is very healthy, sounds great and has plenty of power. Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. It will fire right up on a cold start and the motor purrs beautifully. I would recommend some minor TLC as it is probably due for a good service. It will occasionally idle up and down as it warms up. And I believe it needs shifter bushings as it gets tricky to find the gears sometimes. 71,xxx Miles on the odometer. Original CA Car with the Black plates. Tires appear new. All original metal.
