Always enjoy your orchid updates. Wishing the best for the ones on the struggle bus. But in your care they have a chance. Your finds are so pretty. All your hard work on gazebo is beautiful and don’t over do it. And you’re such a positive person. You all take care ,🐕🪴🏔️.

    Boa noite Carolyn 😊

Thankyou so much for interesting comment. It was sad missing the part of video, we cannot figgure out why the camera did that.???We love same things antiques, Jack and I admire the hand work done in so many antiques, not mass produced like the jade tree. It is so beautiful in the window and all done with copper wire . foo dogs just caught my eye too. We have a picture of very old feng shui chinese bronze framed. Some one said it should only be opened in a museum with gloves on. I should send a photo to you, see what you think. You could email me at carolynorchidfriends@gmail.com

I have tried everything with my little foul synopsis but no joy no flowers plenty of roots and leaves and they look beautiful but still no flowers so I don’t know. Hope you are keeping well. I’m not got Covid at the moment five days in getting better but still feel a bit yucky, she will be happy for you all that we all try very hard for our plants when they’re not doing very well. Don’t like it dislike you don’t really wet and windy cold here. Don’t know where the warmer weather is gone but there we go putting my plants into lava was the best thing done the roots are climbing everywhere, I have got four spikes coming so we’ll catch you very soon. Enjoy your planting.❤❤

Hi Carolyn..thanks for the video and going back to re-film what we missed. I think someone needs a new camera for her birthday 🤔 Enjoy the weather before it gets too hot. It rains every other day here. My spring garden looks fantastic. Hosta ,bleeding hearts are loving the rain. ❤ I would love to see you experiment with moss on your Schillariana. I know you don't like it, but for humidity it would be interesting to see if it would work. 🤔

Hi Carolyn and Family. Loved the tour and seeing how you are getting on with the corks. They are looking really good, love the glass vases. I repotted two Phals today. Still having problems with the bark. It smells old when it arrives and is wet and dusty. I will have to carry on searching I think. Hope you are all well. xxx

With your Catesetum, don’t water or mist it, it definitely doesn’t need it. Your old growths have plenty of energy and the new growth lives off the old bulbs energy. The new roots need to be 5 inches before watering. If you can sprinkle in some slow release fertiliser that is helpful and fertilise every feed

You have been growing orchids a lot longer than I have. I have had some trouble of late. My six orchids are looking good except for one that I damaged myself. Most of my plants are on shelves. I have two four tier shelves that have many plants on them. I can move the shelves to the hight that I want them, thankfully. At the moment I am on crutches because of a back injury and crutches are not for the uncoordinated!. Anyway, I was trying to move some of my other plants around and accidentally dropped a 4” terracotta pot onto one of my Phals. 😱 One leaf popped right off. 😭 About three weeks later two of the lower leaves turned color and died seemingly very quickly. The orchid had been in full bloom but with the leaves dying I decided to cut the flower spikes off. About two months later it puts out a terminal spike. 😟 More sadness. It was my first orchid and a gift from one of my sons. I’m hoping it won’t die but it is not looking good right now.
One thing that I have noticed about my other orchids is that the ones that are a little snug in their pots seem to grow more roots and leaves. I could never get one of my other regular size Phals to put out air roots but I notice that my mini Phals that were in four inch pots kept putting out all kinds of roots and leaves. A coincidence? I don’t know. The roots were starting to stick out the holes of the pots so I repotted them just a few days ago into five inch pots. I hope that they will continue to grow as before. Time will tell.
I have read that these hybrid orchids have different genetic makeups so while one may be extra hardy another that looks the same may be much more particular. I have found that the ones I have are quite prolific. Being no names they are supposed to be bred to be like that. I need plants that don’t need too much fussing! Maybe the species orchids can be a bit more fussy than the no name hybrids that are bred for the general public.
Your plants are looking good. I hope that your repotted orchid does well for you. Since I am just starting with orchids I am staying away from glass vases for now. I am always so concerned about root rot. Maybe someday I will get adventurous and try it. I would like to be able to see the roots.
Your backyard is looking good. You two have done so much work out there. I have a very small backyard garden. Since we live in a forest I am always fighting the critters with anything that I try to do out there. If it isn’t bears after my bird feeders it is the gray squirrels. The woodchucks and other woodland critters like to eat any young plants that are out there. I am hopefully going to get a few tomato plants and strawberry plants along with some flowers to live through spring. I never know what I will see when I look out there in the morning. So far so good. Hope you have a great growing season!

sorry to hear about your back injury, just be patient and pray for full recovery. I have broke my back a few years ago now, and I babyed it for a while, than try to keep surrounding muscles strong to protect it, while it mended. (It was broke right almost to center of back bone where nerves are, was nasty.
Like us the orchids need time to get used to changes, and than when things are right for conditions they just do wonderful.
I am used to living in the sticks, spent many years there. North Tip of Vancouver Island, before there was a Highway up there used to be 5 hours of logging roads, and treacherous conditions in winter. We delt with woves and cougers, deer and elk and racoons. Most of all I hate and do not trust the Bears!!! Had a few narrow escapes. So we have to remember I guess we are in their territory so to speak Love Carolyn

Hi Carolyn. I'm fairly new to your chanel. I'm so taken up by the fact that you grow most of your orchids in glass vases. I'm so interested in the updates.
My orchids never bloom, may be because I've not fertilized regularly in the past. Since my country is v hot most of the time, I'm struggling with the watering schedule as well.
    I enjoy your videos! 🩷🩷🩷🩷

OHHHHH! OK ! This may be a solution for you, but no direct sun on glass! Good thing you can see the roots and bark easily so if it looks dry just add a few drops of water , roots will grow to water in the bottom, Proof of New Growing situations, takes time and you could experiment with one or wait and watch to see how it goes. I have one that has been a year and in bloom with healthy leaves and roots. when blooms are finished I will check roots inside where I can't see but ones I see look happy. New ones seem good. I feel holes important and nice to have them a little higher to help humidity in the pot you adjust by the amount of water you leave there. When to water by if bark and roots look dry All learning and very interesting. Bonus glass vases easier, to water and deal with it seems to me. Love Carolyn
