I recently made more purchases. Saving money for a market downturn is likewise a bad idea. There are numerous ways to look at recessions and depressions, we cannot always expect to make large returns, and taking chances is better than doing nothing. The bottom line is that you will achieve remarkable results by diversifying your portfolio and making wise decisions. My portfolio's raw earnings rose by $608k in just 5 months.
Despite my confidence in your advice, my recent stock purchases, and the fact that I am an AMC shareholder, I haven't been able to accumulate anything. I had already been in the hole for too long prior to the downturn. What's the investing procedure?

The problem with Chicken is that his action contradicts with his beliefs. If the upside potential for Palantir is similar to the 2019’s Tesla, meaning that the stock can potentially grows 10x to 20x, no point for him dumping all Palantir when the stock just hits $10. Just doesn’t make any sense.

Surely it's stock investing 101 that you buy low and sell high? The time for selling was a year ago after the last bull run. Now it's time to buy.

Ken I’m curious if your advice would change in jurisdictions that have capital gains tax? I assume your taxed in Singapore where there is no capital gain. If I sell a position I pay 30-50% tax on any profit which means I would need at least a 30-50% crash to make selling now worthwhile. Seems like a huge gamble.

You must be fucking nuts to do that. The markets go up 70% of the time so you are swimming against a very strong current. And shorting the market at peak interest rate isn't smart. A lot of folks are out of the markets or shorted it. That's an lopsided trade which means the trillions sitting in bonds and high yielding treasuries will move back in and drive the market higher at the first sign of abating interest rate hikes!

To be fair though, people (whether they held TSLA from 400 or not) critizised you for selling at 170 then making semi bearish comments at 100. What you should acknowledge is that when the stock went up to 200 this does not mean people are still down just because it did not reach a new ATH. As a matter of fact I have been holding the stock since 400 and I am up on my investment because I DCA'd. Bought big at around 100. With 0 downside risk (because had it gone lower I would have used the next month's income to do it again). You know it is possible to buy through a recession and the probablility to come out at the end with much more than at the beginning is near 100% (baring catastrophic events). THIS is also risk managment. As a matter of fact, buying the dip by DCA every month is better risk reward than selling because of what the FED is doing. That is where most of the critisism is coming from, or at least the valid part. That being said, thanks for the general outlook on the market, I will take it into account as I have come to the conclusion that your logic and outlook are sound.
problem is that not everyone has money coming in like you do. Some only have limited funds to maximize their potential hence selling sometimes and buying at low can be lucrative if their macro knowledge is good. For beginners, yes DCA is the best.
I always wished you would give advise to those of us in high-tax locales. Selling would incur ~40% loss of capital due to tax liability and then I would need to be able to time re-entry with the remaining money, so even holding onto a 50% cut in my portfolio doesn't seem that bad. Singapore with no capital gains tax is a very different situation.

100% correct. I remember that video. Ken has frankly changed and is now fixated on trying to time the market. I miss the old Ken who simply told us to DCA when a company has: (1) Proof of concept, (2) ability to scale. Now he's all about watching for signals and selling based on those signals, which is every trader ever.

Liquidity is down, inflation, high interest rates, us dollar going up, gdp shrinking, the economy is not in good shape and it will be reflected in the stock market IMO Timing the market for mid term investments can be done.. there is always risk obviously in investments

In my experience, if you manage millions for your client and in the past you told him or her that we cannot time the market therefore invest in wonderful businesses over the long term. There is a good rule that says if someone tells you what is going to happen in the future, you should walk away. That is all dependent on how things go. CGS mentioned earlier that he would buy Tesla if it becomes a hated trade again, as he now feels like it is overcrowded and therefore is not interested in the stock
I won’t give a specific multiple, but the robotics and robotaxi revenue potential from Tesla are more extraordinary than PLTR. Both are great stock picks, however. I think storable food/water/toiletries in your home (and paying off credit card and auto debt, if applicable) will do better over the next 18-24 months than either stock, especially Tesla.

Started investing in June 2020. Have been going for the dividend approach and have never been in the red since November 2020. Hard to keep up with trends. Will continue to dollar cost average. I do have a small position in Palantir.

I always wished you would give advise to those of us in high-tax locales. Selling would incur ~40% loss of capital due to tax liability and then I would need to be able to time re-entry with the remaining money, so even holding onto a 50% cut in my portfolio doesn't seem that bad. Singapore with no capital gains tax is a very different situation.
Exactly! Just hold man, just hold. Why take a loss AND give the government money too? Seems less painful to just hold and take 1 loss and at the very least, leaves a foot in the door in case things reverse.
Look for tax loss harvesting. Sometimes possible to compensate gainers with losers

100% correct. I remember that video. Ken has frankly changed and is now fixated on trying to time the market.
I miss the old Ken who simply told us to DCA when a company has: (1) Proof of concept, (2) ability to scale.

Liquidity is down, inflation, high interest rates, us dollar going up, gdp shrinking, the economy is not in good shape and it will be reflected in the stock market IMO
Timing the market for mid term investments can be done.. there is always risk obviously in investments

In my experience, if you manage millions for your client and in the past you told him or her that we cannot time the market therefore invest in wonderful businesses over the long term. A year later, you tell your client to trade and time the market. Your client most likely will not trust u again. That’s my humble opinion. 😏

amen brother. I am all in cash. i am waiting for next flush!! it amazes me how historical patterns always repeat itself. We are in the complacent phase. next up is panic. Why do retail investors get suckered in by Wall Street and algos every time? Greed is such a powerful motivator I made 50% on my meta-stock and yes I have some FOMO but I am disciplined. We are heading into a major recession with Ad dollars being pulled back so of course retail piles in and buys more meta, SMH.

There is a good rule that says if someone tells you what is going to happen in the future, you should walk away. Don't understand how he can think that he can make safe predictions with his little bit of economics. Also annoying that he is always insulting people as donkeys but he seems to have a very big need for recognition. Watch his videos actually like but he has become too aggressive and unserious for me. That is all dependent on how things go. CGS mentioned earlier that he would buy Tesla if it becomes a hated trade again, as he now feels like it is overcrowded and therefore is not interested in the stock
Impossible question to ask anyone with the world financial markets the way they are.
I won’t give a specific multiple, but the robotics and robotaxi revenue potential from Tesla are more extraordinary than PLTR. Both are great stock picks, however. I think storable food/water/toiletries in your home (and paying off credit card and auto debt, if applicable) will do better over the next 18-24 months than either stock, especially Tesla.

Started investing in June 2020. Have been going for the dividend approach and have never been in the red since November 2020. Hard to keep up with trends. Will continue to dollar cost average. I do have a small position in Palantir.
My portfolio is in red including TSLA .. do you still suggest a full sell off or is there a better way to average and manage risk ?
On tesla’s next bull run, you’ll be sitting at 6 to 700 a share. Dont worry about the near term
I'm not a pro or anything but I wouldn't be selling all my stocks especially if you belive they are good companies.

Thanks for talking about dollar strength/weakness. What about dollar structural revaluation? Like when we went off gold standard, Brenton woods agreement and so on? It seems everyone wants to leave the dollar but can't find a better alternative. Try as they might, the dollar will rule supreme. But, perhaps at a more favorable exchange rate?
