My US Marine Corps company was hosted by the fusiliers during the 1991 Gulf War. They put on a display of their equipment, and gave us a brief of the regiment's history, traditions and such. We then hosted the fusiliers at our camp. The lads had a good time driving our automatic transmission HUMVEES! Good soldiers, though I could hardly understand the language. LOL Much respect.
The Royal Highland Fusiliers carry three Colours. The Queens Colour, The Regimental Colour, and the Assaye Colour.The Assaye Colour was awarded for bravery at the battle of Assaye, when the Regiment defeated a much larger and determined enemy force. The only officer left alive at this battle was the Quartermaster John Grant. So by tradition the Assaye Colour is normally carried by the Quartermaster of the Regiment.
It's a Scottish regiment John though all its fighting was done under British colours. So a British regiment doing duty for UK (Scotland is still part of UK and our fellow Scots do honourable service still)

My grandfather was in this crew in the First big un , they look fine .

All British infantry battalions have two colours: the Queens Colour and the Regimental Colour. The PWRR have a third: The Colonels Colour.
