  • Prof. Yehuda Bauer, an academic advisor to Yad Vashem and one of the world's premier historians on the Holocaust, discusses the relationship between the Holocaust and the emergence of the State of Israel. Dealing with the widely held belief that the State of Israel came into existence because of the Holocaust, Prof. Bauer clearly demonstrates the falsity of this widespread claim.

It is a sad thing indeed that the airways of American history falls short and continues to deliver a single sided view of that history surrounding WW II. Shame on the academic historians for not correcting the subjective wartime propaganda in due time. Right or wrong, whatever that may be, there are two or more sides to every saga; it is a fable to be decided upon the spoils of war and usually spun in favor of, and justification for, its victors.

I'm not going to go against Prof. Bauer facts, but he mentioned vaguely one HUGE part that in my opinion matters more then a lot of his rhetoric, which is; "if the war would have went to '47 the Jews would have been wiped out." Well in my view you should thank the allies not complain about them...they saved your people, why can't you see that!!

@alvarociglia Unfortunately you are right, people who thinks of others and help and are generous never become rich.

@sharifhhh well, would your country accept millions of refugees who has nothing , who needs places to work and live?
people that you know will almost certainly live on your taxes, because they don't have a job?
egypt shoots refugees from sudan. israel welcomes them with food and aid. but how many people do you think we can aid? how do you think a man who lost his job, because a refugee is a cheaper employee feels?
you can't just accept such huge group of refugees into your country.

For over 2000 years the Jewish people have prayed for a return to their National Homeland which includes the area that is now called Israel.
    Zion is the Temple Mount.
Zionism is the legitimate desire of the Jewish People to return home and to reestablish their centre of worship on the Temple Mount. There have always been Jews in Israel (even under Arab hegemony). The holocaust may have accelerated the process but it did not cause the process.
