When I started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago for the first time, I thought I could be happy applying all of this to a drum machine, but the way you explain it and make it look possible for a dummy like me. I reckon I might look to buy an E-Drumkit, connect it to the drum machine and have the best of both worlds. Thanks Emma.
Jazz is so hard to perfect, Even after a summer of practice, playing with other musicians & backing tracks it's still difficult. A jazz drummer once told me "Jazz music is more about the feel of what you don't play" 🤯 Glad you stuck with the ride pattern l, sometimes it's all you need ❤❤
The explanation is really great. Very well done, I can follow that. Thank you. It would be really helpful to have a little more actual demonstration at the end though. Not a ton, just 10,maybe 20 seconds. I’d be able to feel the groove as a pro does it, rather than just me struggling at the tempo I can manage, which is a tempo that I definitely can’t hear or feel the groove as it’s supposed to be.
Sure...you can now play all that is jazz using a beat that is primarily used in swing/big band lol and that's 1 of several sub genres of jazz which are arguably the hardest genres to play in all music due to complexity of timing

I would absolutely love a little side series on jazz techniques and grooves 🥺
I’ve been playing drums for 40 years.
