We'll take Nick any way he comes. On the rocks, in the mountains, on the Palouse, etc...

Nick you and your team have done it again. No matter how many times it never gets old listening to you explain the geological history in the great state of Washington.

So good... If these exquisitely shot scenes don't compel you to set out and explore the amazing landscapes for yourself, then you aren't fully alive. Nice work by Nick, Brady, Gary, and the entire production team. Keep 'em coming!

I was so fascinated by 4th grade science learning about the geology of eastern WA (in the 60s) that I bugged my parents about taking our vacation there. Dry Falls, the coulees, the rest of this part of WA and Grand Coulee Dam too were awesome and taught my midwestern parents something new about their adopted home state.

Funny - our family moved here from the midwest in the 60s as well but as kids when we drove across the state we just wanted to get across the "desert" as fast as possible! Only in the 2000s did I realize the awesomeness of all the coulees, from Dry Falls down to Moses and Potholes, and the Feathers too (on the old Vantage Highway). For anyone driving I-90 across the state now just take an extra 20 minutes at the Silica Road exit to go see the Feathers at least 😃.

Ancient Lakes is my favorite winter hiking playground. Beautiful spot. I had no idea that the lakes were only as old as the irrigation water! Nick done educated me again!

Ancient Lakes are so beautiful. I used to do horseback riding there growing up, and it might be my favorite spot to ride horses

Love it over there we have family over there, but we would go to many of the lakes every summer we had boats so it was fun. Go up into the caves my brothers would jump off of the cliffs at blue Lake. So many fun memories. So different from where we live..

Someone needs to do a computer simulation of the flood with some good graphics and solid science behind it. The event itself had to have been something extraordinary. You just need to look around E. Washington to see how much power and force was exerted over a small time frame.

My bright (?) idea... Glaciers melted due to volcano(s) under the ice sheet. The idea is massive heat (volcano(s)) applied to the ice sheet at numerous times over a period of years (maybe hundreds). Each eruption causes massive vapor and water release - bigger the eruption, more release. The eruptions vary in size - naturally. Huge glowing boulders and Icebergs hurled thru the air who knows how far. So now you know!

Hikers are warned to not drink the water at Ancient Lakes, even after microfiltration, due to agricultural runoff contamination. Most of those chemicals are used to grow grass seed on the uplands.

If I recall , Bretz was vigorously ridiculed for his ideas by other scientists. As scientists we know this feeling from our work. Debate IS science , but it would be good discuss new ideas instead of simply rejecting them with little thought. That does no favors for anyone.

I really enjoy nature documentaries and such but what ruins a good documentary like this one was you and your face talking almost the whole time
I didn't click your link to watch you and your face talk I wanted to see the rocks and I wanted to see Oregon and I wanted to see what you had to show
But what ruined it was you showing your face talking over 3/4 of the time
People don't click on TH-cam videos to watch somebody's face talking
Try to do better next time
I know all you people out there are desperate to be seen on TH-cam but your face talking ruins the video
It's fine to show yourself talking once or twice but to show yourself talking every 30 seconds and then show a little bit of footage and then your face talking again it's freaking boring
And when you do this it becomes more about you and not about discovering ancient lakes at potholes Coulee
