I enjoyed seeing what you do during your reading lessons and small group instruction. I hope you continue to share what you are working on during whole and small group times. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving vacation.
I added to my bathroom rules that no objects were allowed to be taken in the bathroom. I checked pockets. And I also checked the bathrooms before and after each student. It's hard to fit it in if u were teaching but make the time for it and it helps out a lot. I love those key chains!! Thanks for the link!
As a first year teacher it has been REALLY difficult to find ways to teach phonemic awareness. The way you set up your presentations seems really engaging! I’ll need to pause and use the same layout. I would love to see a dedicated video about what specifically you do to create these: especially since we use the same curriculum :)
I can definitely make a video about this sometime soon!! I use phonemic awareness as quick warm up in both whole group and small group! I use a ball during whole group to toss to students to share their answers to keep it more fun and engaging!
It was awesome! You are the perfect 1st graders teacher! Those kids are blessed to have you. I enjoyed your videos. Happy Thanksgiving for you and your family.
I feel you. I teach 3rd grade and I have the same bathroom problem. I also have a lot of code yellows. I have started having them sign in and the last person is has to clean it up. It has helped, but I coud not believe that 3rd graders would pee on the floor.
Just a helpful tip for your observation…when you are doing phonemic awareness, the students shouldn’t be looking at the words because then it’s phonics, not phonemic awareness. So you may want to warm up with that, but eliminate the slide. Hope that helps!
Thank you!! I keep the first slide with the text as reference for me but with all of the student examples I type them in the presenter notes and stand in front of them so I can read what they say and then do them verbally with the students so they aren't looking at the text! I like having the slide in there for my reference so I don't have to have a sheet of paper to read them from :) I have enjoyed making PA a more engaging warm up for students!
The slides are something I made last year to go with the Wonders Curriculum! The content came from the Wonders online resources and any freebie activities I find on TPT and turn into digital! I may make a video on how I make my slides in the near future!
You are awesome - don’t ever forget it! ❤️

Do you do a read to self time during reading groups? If not, do you have another time you have read to self?
Yes that is one of their center rotations!

I think everyone is having tough year this year.
Where did you get your daily slides?
