Right like I myself don't really like my teeth. Some of them are really crooked and it looks weird when I smile but I'd never actually think about getting them ALL pulled out for new ones.

i mean... this show IS called lookgating which is a play on word from the korean word of 소개팅 which means blind date so.. lookgating is basically getting to know people by how they look...
But what should they if that's the setup of the show? If you've seen their other videos both guys and girls do this. Basically it's a show where everyone rates eachother (including their show rivals) like a piece of meat.

The only reason why the double eyelid is seen as more preferable and the surgery is common place is because it was invented by a white American army doctor during the Korean war. He said it would make the Asian look less aggressive and more welcoming, so it was a way for soldiers to get along with the people of the country they were occupying.

Yellow girl has my heart. She’s so damn pretty, her facial features with and without the plastic surgery still make her face look like an angel. Her body shape is perfectly perfect and fits the way she looks, she looks like a confident girl. She’s so gorgeous, the beauty standards that are placed in society (especially in most poc) are so stupid but I absolutely loved her. She didn’t talk much, she’s beautiful, she still stayed calm and content even during the way that they were slightly making fun of her. She’s such a pretty girl!! everything about her just fits and make her look perfect, her hair shapes her facial features. It’s clear to see that most people get plastic surgery because of being insecure about beauty standards and such, which is why I find her the prime example. She didn’t look exactly what the guys wanted her and wished she had looked, their whole mood changed when she walked out.

What I've learned after watching this video: I'm terrified of South Korea. I could never bear living in such a judgemental society. The fact that asking regular citizens "what celebrity do you look like?" is a pretty normal/basic question in a conversation, that's already a huge red flag. "I'm very submissive"???, "Ah yeah, submissive people are usually nice"?? Judging people by the HAND POSE they choose to make? Getting surgery when you're already naturally pretty? Choosing not to get to know someone based on their outfit of the day? Yep. No wonder why South Korea is the country with the highest suicide rate.

@@lily-ts4tu i’m korean and i agree with you. i have naturally had a “chubby” face and a single eyelid all of my life so i can understand how it feels to not be called pretty all the time. not to be rude, but the yellow girl reminded me of myself, and when i realized that none of the boys called her pretty, i just got angry. my siblings have a “perfect” face and they immediately get called pretty every time they meet our parents’ friends. but when they see me, it just sounds like they’re calling me pretty so i dont feel bad. this started to make me feel insecure about how i look. but at least they care about my feelings ig. but the boys in the video seem like they don’t care about the girls’ feelings, considering that they said that the pink girl’s eyes before plastic surgery were better than eyes after. like she can’t really change her eyes now.

The personality of the yellow girl was my favorite and she looked great too. I also think that cosmetic surgery is not bad itself and may help with insecurities, but sometimes the pressure about beauty standards may make someone rush into taking that choice and later they may regret. Maybe more understanding about the risks before and after surgery would be needed too, as some are irreversibles and it's for life. Beauty standards change, and beauty gives meaning to ugliness, so what it may be pretty today, it might not be tomorrow.
Brown looks like a celebrity.. to think she has to spend thousands of dollars to get that. I hope the girls who got less surgery won't be jealous or think they need more because of her..

I’d 100% fix my teeth before getting any surgery at all. Fixing your teeth can change your face shape sometimes and it can change your whole image of yourself. So it’s best to fix them and then get plastic surgery if you still want it.
One important thing you have to understand is that all those pretty Kpop stars, fashion youtubers, and popular instagram models all wear makeups, have nice hairstyles, and does photoshop whether they had plastic surgery or not. If you want to be pretty, try doing makeup and learn to style your hair first before considering getting plastic surgery.

Gee the attitude towards monolid is interwoven into the beauty standards. Personally I never cared to use specific facial features to nitpick appearance or attractiveness in any way like that. I just decide physical attractiveness by how well all features of a person work together. My boyfriend is Korean. He basically has monolids (he has a fold that is almost too tiny to see) and he admires my double eyelids (I’m SE Asian/East Asian but my family has double eyelids) and sees them as a beautiful trait that he lacks. But really he looks so handsome to me no matter what. Besides, I mainly came to love him because of who he is; his appearance is part of him, and I love every part of him.
I could never keep up with Korean beauty standards. I feel like I’m kinda cute in America but would probably feel like shrek in korea. I don’t plan on getting my eyelids done

i HATE this entire video. Literally EVERYTHING is wrong with the mindset of these people. Notice how the boys didnt call the yellow girl pretty like they did to the other girls? just because shes chubby and doesn’t have double eyelids, she’s intimidating. The only reason why the double eyelid is seen as more preferable and the surgery is common place is because it was invented by a white American army doctor during the Korean war. He said it would make the Asian look less aggressive and more welcoming, so it was a way for soldiers to get along with the people of the country they were occupying.

Yellow girl has my heart. She’s so damn pretty, her facial features with and without the plastic surgery still make her face look like an angel. Her body shape is perfectly perfect and fits the way she looks, she looks like a confident girl. She’s so gorgeous, the beauty standards that are placed in society (especially in most poc) are so stupid but I absolutely loved her. She didn’t talk much, she’s beautiful, she still stayed calm and content even during the way that they were slightly making fun of her. The personality of the yellow girl was my favorite and she looked great too. I also think that cosmetic surgery is not bad itself and may help with insecurities, but sometimes the pressure about beauty standards may make someone rush into taking that choice and later they may regret. Maybe more understanding about the risks before and after surgery would be needed too, as some are irreversibles and it's for life. Beauty standards change, and beauty gives meaning to ugliness, so what it may be pretty today, it might not be tomorrow.

I’d 100% fix my teeth before getting any surgery at all. Fixing your teeth can change your face shape sometimes and it can change your whole image of yourself. So it’s best to fix them and then get plastic surgery if you still want it.

Gee the attitude towards monolid is interwoven into the beauty standards. Personally I never cared to use specific facial features to nitpick appearance or attractiveness in any way like that.
I just decide physical attractiveness by how well all features of a person work together. My boyfriend is Korean. He basically has monolids (he has a fold that is almost too tiny to see) and he admires my double eyelids (I’m SE Asian/East Asian but my family has double eyelids) and sees them as a beautiful trait that he lacks. But really he looks so handsome to me no matter what. Besides, I mainly came to love him because of who he is; his appearance is part of him, and I love every part of him.
I could never keep up with Korean beauty standards. I feel like I’m kinda cute in America but would probably feel like shrek in korea. I don’t plan on getting my eyelids done
