  • The Americain composer and conductor John Adams looks back on his greatest musical and operatic creations. In France for the premiere of "Must the Devil have all the good tunes?", he comments on his recent concerts and remembers his great operas, notably "Nixon in China" and "The Death of Klinghoffer". He shares his perception of current events, art and the rising trends in our contemporary society. He analyses the minimalist movement and notes that this label is still attached to his work, particularly in France, though he himself believes to have long moved on from this musical style. John Adams also highlights the importance of language before thinking of the music. Finally, he looks back on his musical education, the great composers that have influenced him, including Debussy and Stravinsky, and the music that he appreciates today.
