  • It's very modern, but also very poorly. These are my favourite modern Dyson, so it's time to see what makes them go wrong at such a young age.

Any bag vacuum will hold up better to plaster dust preferably HEPA bags but paper bags still do better

Could you let me know how easy it is to clean the clear casing on that? Mine has had many years worth of rubbish building up on that and it's starting to look a bit crap.

The Light Ball was launched in mid 2017 so it wont be any more than 3.5 years old by now. I bought mine in late 2017 and it still runs fine. They are pretty good vacuums for the 200 quid they cost, and you dont have the worry of a cordless Dyson's battery wearing out after 3 years and needing to buy a new battery. Looks like that one has never had its pre-motor filter cleaned at all - they also have a habit of getting fluff and dirt caught in the large brushroll bearing and its housing, so I was not surprised to see your example all clagged up, which as you said, would have eventually caused the brushroll motor to keep stalling, as it becomes unable to overcome the resistance of the build-up around the bearing. I think you'll bring it up to scratch, just needs a good cleanout.
On a different note - Crap Henry has returned, Take a listen to this, and we now can celebrate, that Hoover Master has his very own Sam Watson inspired Crap Henry; th-cam.com/video/klRmHwnXYMk/w-d-xo.html

I have a Light Ball too... Though I think the brushroll bearing has gone on mine, rotating it manually makes a horrible grating noise and does not turn smoothly.
I suspect it happened while it did a brief stint as my mum's interim while she shopped for a new cleaner

I rate them fairly well, reserving the right to amend my opinion as they age! Their my number 1 vac recommendation now to normal people, someone from the car forum I frequent bought an ebay outlet one for £150 and said it was bnib and utterly perfect and likes it alot.

Do you know if there is a way to remove the centre cylinder from the cleaner head? I can remove the brush cylinder, but there is another under it that stops me cleaning the plastic, that is reallllly dirty

Dyson needs to engineer a seal for their brushroll ends.

Every 2/3 months, regular as clockwork the end of my v11 brushroll is packed with dust. Seems to just be what it does!
