Beautiful amplifier Big D, and she did her numbers on the dyno too. Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever seen is the component list that came with this amp. That is the ultimate repair accessory right there. Sam @Barevids would be proud of that company for including this info for sure. Good video Big D. I've been liking the new content showing these rare amplifiers from back in the day.

I totally agree with you. This is how electronic products SHOULD be sold. Nowadays the manufacturers actually go out of their way to obscure/hide/remove part numbers from the internal components, so that it is extremely difficult for the end user to get the product repaired. What the heck happened?

@@electronicengineer I'm figuring this out first hand SMH!! It's very disappointing too because from my understanding the amp is somewhat rare, it's a Rockford Fosgate Power 750x4. The amp works great but the positive and negative terminals have become loose and are worn out so I'm trying to replace them.

I do know for a fact that Mr. Williston, our host here, has access to a few car audio amplifier repair people, for example Shawn King, which may be able to steer you in the correct direction, to get the positive and negative terminals which you require for your RF amplifier. Good luck to you. Fred

Gordon Taylor was the UK distributor for DLS and DLS distributed his Genesis amps in their markets. The ultimate series amps looked visually identical to the Genesis series 3, which resulted in Gordon and Genesis cutting ties with DLS for copying the look. He had nothing to do with the internals, but later was involved with the design of the DLS CC amps.

It's actually Gordon Taylor aka "The amp doctor", and the mastermind and founder of Genesis, who also initially stod behind the design of all DLS's amps.
Genesis was formed in 1991 and began selling amplifiers in the UK in that year. In 1993 they were approached by DLS to distribute Genesis amplifiers in Sweden. As time went by DLS requested distribution of Genesis amplifiers in other markets alongside their speakers, and this was implemented successfully.
The Series 1 & Series 2 amplifiers were dual branded as DLS Genesis for export to give both brands recognition in the marketplace.
In 1997 Series 3 was released and this was branded purely as Genesis, as the dual branding had created confusion in many markets.
At CES 2001 DLS showed a line of amplifiers VISUALLY similar to the Genesis Series 3. In February 2001 Genesis dismissed DLS as their international distributor and the two companies went their separate ways.
All Genesis amplifiers are designed in England by the founder Gordon Taylor, and are hand built at the Genesis factory in Southend, England.
The DLS A series amplifiers are designed and built in the Far East from specifications laid out by DLS. Early versions had the names of the Chinese designers on the top copper print, however this was removed in subsequent versions.
The external similarity is all that is in common between these amplifiers and the Series 3 from Genesis. Internally they have nothing in common, as removing the bottom covers will reveal.
The A series amplifiers are also marketed by Phass, a Japanese brand.
It isn’t the first time Genesis have been copied, Poweramper made a particularly nasty knockoff of the Series 2 amplifiers in the mid ‘90’s.
After some legal settlements, between Gordon Taylor and DLS, Gordon Taylor is now back again with DLS. And their latest collaboration is the DLS "Signature Series" consisting of three amps(two class A-B, two and four channels, and one class D mono block).

I bought mine back in the time when it came out. I have owned E36 from Hartge and was preparing epic 11 channel active SQ setup for it. Bought kick panels for two midd basses per door. Have tested different drivers and made best sounding combination for me. No cross overs. Have had it at home hooked up on Optima Yellow Top and power supply. Sub for SQ was Aliante 12LTD. For fun second option was SPL 15”. Back then that amp and that sub was winning all SQ tests. Then I have crashed my car and never ever used any of it. All in boxes standing around for 20 years. Looked once at Aliante 12 LTD subs and seen the go now for thousands of Euro second hand. Very rare stuff. Makes me want to build it in somewhere. Well after that car I was getting cars that have had very good factory audio and were to nice to cut holes in it. BTW here in The Netherlands I have paid 1000 Euro after the discount for my DLS A6. Swedish amp that costed twice as much in the Europe than in the USA??? Sweden is in Europe WTF?
BTW Amazon delivering two 12V PSU units today. I will be able to power up my old stuff at home once again :)

Fairly certain these amps were designed (or lineage dates back to) David Yeh of AudioArt/DavidArt etc. He designed amps for a few high end Japanese companies as well, Phass comes to mind. His AA creations were beautifully designed absolutely fantastic especially the HC series. His top DavidArt amps were even better (SQ and power) than the AA HC's. Unfortunately, they never really made it to market because production costs were too high in Taiwan as everybody was going to China and doing Class D. He also designed a pair of tubies: an amp and a preamp. Would consider those two pieces top 10 holy grail of their class.

Hey man what amp would you recommend for two JL audio 12 inch tw3 shallow mount subs?

    @bjorng8680 ปีที่แล้ว

So the man behind the Genesis amp is also behind the dls amps (DLS Genesis)
. Gordon Taylor. This was in the late 90’s if I remember right. Not sure if he was involved in the A-series.

These were David Yeh designs for the internals. Not sure about the heat sink

Straight up sexy amp!! Everytime I ever see one of these amps, oddly they remind me of Critical Mass.

A little odd: the materials sheet on the left showed 2N6488/6491 output transistors but the one on the right said TIP35C/36C and those are what’s in the amp (evidenced by the pin spacing in your flyover view).

I have the new DLS signature S2 and S4 amplifiers and DLS Soundcase 3 in an active 3-way system in my 66 Impala and it sounds amazing
Also I think DLS made those Genesis amplifiers, in Sweden they where called DLS Genesis or Genesis by DLS back in 2000

DAWID KONIARSKI one of the three original co-founders of DLS started his own company called Xcelsus audio which specialises in high end car audio, you should try to get a hand on any of their subwoofer sq amps and speakers you ,you will not be deceived by their quality

This is very accurate and David Yeh (A6 designer) also has input on finalizing these as well as far as I know.
