I had 18x8 Axis Supermesh rims on Kumho Ecstas ASX. I believe it was 225/40/18. I had a reiger rr-x lip kit in the back, reiger rr-x sideskirts, and a gti/golf front end swap with .:R32 front bumper in the front.
wow, really great sound... My brother just bought an 2001 VR6.. Im not huge into cars but they really hold my interest and I know a thing or two about them and his jetta really blew my mind on how fast it was.. I have no idea if it even has aftermarket piping but its got a magnaflow muffler at least and it sounds great.

body work is a whole nother story..had a r32 front bumper basically a getta..had reiger rrx sideskirts and rear valence..zender trunk wing and I believe ottenger(sp?) Roof wing..for suspension I had just an hr cup kit and front upper and lower stress bars..for wheels I had axis supermesh 18x8 which I mentioned previously..that's about it with the car
I had the motor rebuilt and bored out to larger forged 2.9 pistons..had a k and n intake...custon 2.5 inch pipin from the catback to a magnaflow muffler..and a autothority chip..that's about it that was done to the car motor wise..
yea my water pump went, then seals, then gaskets, then timing chain was done. then later too low, so went through 2 oil pans.. now my 2.0 Jetta has a broken bracket for the Air pump which eventually cracked the air pump Hose. (50.00) later. I spent about 800 on some simple repairs i guess. but after the 300 for the oil pan.. im kinda burnt. I love the car, although it doesnt make much power (2.0). I do recommend the VR6. But i dont think i can afford Dubs any longer. So its up for grabs,
use shell v power..i dono what that has to do with the sound..but it does sound ricey at times and i hate it..it does it because i was told the muffler hits the heat shield or something and causes the exhaust to rattle at times..
@scottmercado the point hes trying to make is that the two VR6's sound similar so why would you compare them if thats how they naturally sound... duhhh!
what's going on man. um i dont really know the part number since my brother put on the muffler when he owned the car i just put on the custom piping. i looked at the part number you listed and it looks about the same.
Cause people have different preferences that's why. Not everyone likes american cars, VR6 Jettas aren't gutless cars but it's just retarded in my opinion when people in classes so different as 2.8 and 5.0 race.
Do you even know the reason the vr6 came about ? It wasn't for performance first,it was to get a 6 cylinder to fit in place of a 4 cylinder. I love em ,but the 12v vr6 head is really restrictive and not the greatest for performance use. Slap a turbo on to make up for it and they do pretty good,but any kinda power from an NA engine costs a fortune. Cams for 600+$? Ya might get 10hp,but probably not.
