- Hello RC Fans! Today we are unboxing a vintage Kyosho Optima Pro! This legend is probably my favorite of the Optima cars from the 80s (close second it the Javelin). This is kit number 3029 released back in 1987...37 years ago!
I appreciate your support, please Subscribe if you haven't already and give me a thumbs up! I also love all the comments from all the RC fans out there, new and old!

I think that turbo optima is the most beautiful because of the gold pieces.
@@bradkalman2353 Yeah, all those gold bits...looks amazing. My issue is I wouldn't drive it, I would be afraid to scratch it 😂
@@eekrc I would drive it and get a cover for the chassis.
Very cool! I am looking forward to hopefully getting the re-re one once it gets here. It is cool you will have the original NIB and a re-re to rip around and have some fun with!!!
@@AddamsPlayground I can't wait for the Re-Re Addam... I've been so tempted to crack open the vintage one and build it. But now I just need some patience . I've already seen conflicting release dates. Some say July, some say August...and Tower Hobbies will have it in 2026 😂
Awesome! Love seeing these vintage unboxings. So many memories attached to these cars.
@@FastFreddyRC Absolutely! It's so much fun unboxing the vintage kits. Brings back memories, like when we used to order things from a catalog, and got our RC news from magazines. Good times for sure.
That body (+ undertray) is the best looking of the rear motor Optima 🤩 Can't wait to have the Re-Re of this. Of course, it's not as charming as the original, but still 😊 Back in the days, I bought the body, but do not remember on which car I put it as I had only Mid(s) and Ultima(s) 🤔 Thanks for that unboxing 🤝
@@coygtrc Thanks for watching! Yes, I love this body style, I can't wait to get the re-re... I will definitely be ripping into that one and building it ASAP 😆
Love the optima pro. I have 2 built and 1 nib. Looking forward to the rere as well. Such a great car.
@@rcicons4915 I'm super excited about the Re-Re. I actually might order a second one to keep it NIB. Now I just want a TOMS! I'm thinking that will be coming later this year.🤞
I have the Turbo Optima Re-Re that I turned into a Javelin at the same time building and used the white cage. I still painted the body box art though. For my next Kyosho I’m holding out for a long wheelbase mid hopefully the all carbon TOMS or if not I’ll do a regular 2022 Mid and do the EXO Design LWB conversion
@@jonthomas8487 I love the Javelin, I converted my Optima into a mint green one. I really hope they come out with the TOMS, we have all been waiting for that one since they started re-releasing them 🤞
Love the Pro, my favorite of the Optimas. Did Buyee take the oil out of the kit? I may have missed it but I didn't see any shock oil? Thanks in advance and keep up the great videos !
@@lauraa.anthis5346 Thanks Laura! (Or is it Lauraa) Yes, Buyee took the shock oil out, but they did an amazing job! They opened up the staple, removed the oil from the bag and put the staple back in. Can't even tell. I am so excited for the re-release kit, I have one on pre-order...I'm hoping it gets released soon. I heard different dates from different retailers. July or August. 🤞 That it's sooner than later 😊
Great kit for a great rc channel.❤
@@LukesVintageRC Thank you so much! And thanks for watching! I'm excited for the Re-Re to come in so I can have one to run too 😊
The vintage kits are awesome but with the Kyosho kits, too many steps are already assembled Tamiya kits are complete unassembled kits and in the mid 80's they were all packed in blister packaging
@@ralphhowing3473 Hey Ralph...I remember, I actually like that better too. I would rather build it myself. They did that with the legendary kits, but I took everything apart and rebuilt it up to my standards. It's more fun for me too. I'm not a fan of most RTRs, I like to build my own. It's like buying a Lego set already assembled!
@@eekrc Amen!!!!
