  • The EFF Student Command is threatening to shut down universities if they refuse to accept walk-in applications.
It also wants free registration for students who failed the 2018 academic year.
Numerous institutions are encouraging prospective students to rather apply online.
Most universities have received scores of applications that far outstrip their capacity.
EFF Student Command Leader, Peter Keetse, joins us now. Courtesy #DStv403

Nothing is free in life. You work hard to get a student loan but it looks like you people just want everything for free.

But if the universities are @ full capacity are they supposed to give lectures out doors? Is it the universities that build new universities or is it Govt? Scrap reg fees that's ok, but if you fail matric you can't get a spot in university against someone who passed.

I honestly don't care about white or black, all I care about is whether or not we're going to get a job once we're done with our tertiary studies, because right now things aren't looking so good, and the unemployment rate keeps going up. Think about your families before you start going and picking fights. If all goes well, then hooray. But if this backfires in our face, then only God can save us. At this point it seems like people around the world are laughing at South Africans (mostly black) for what's happening in our country.

The country needs all is efforts in creating new engineering/manufacturing industries. Its no use giving free houses, education, medical but you fail on the job creation. We whites cab go it allone we do not need goverment. In 1994 industry delivered 33% of gdp with the anc rubbish we have lost 75% of this capacity and now only 8% of gdp. And you keep these mother fucking thieving rubbish in pover. Enough is enough we will get our freedom or this country will die.

Having gone through the challenges of studying at a University , support the EFFSC. These registration fees are ways of excluding students , especially black students from the door of learning. If we are indeed serious in addressing the economic inequalities in SA , we must ensure that the previously disadvantaged get access to education.

MY PRESIDENT , The EFF continues to give us informed young leaders who understand the struggle of a young African child thirsty for EDUCATION , excluded or discarded by a system made to to oppress and ensure that the BLACK majority of our people remain uneducated, so they can continue to exploit our land through the cheap and free labour of a black man. For these reasons ALUTA CONTINUA

We are willing to contribute to NSFAS as citizens, and lot of previous beneficiaries are also willing to help. However, government refuses to put proper systems in place to facilitate the process. Yet as its the same politician asking where is the money going to come from. Stop stifling NSFAS as it is at the core of changing the odds for the poor within the UNIVERSITIES. Maybe a Shut down will do.

I've never seen a white person in a rural area (only us blacks). There are many rural areas across the country, which means we are the ones who're struggling. This happened in 1994 when white people remained on their fancy houses and good environment while we're far away and our issues are not attended to, so now we're coming back for what ours. If you take a look now black people are really studying hard and there is a high number of black people across many SA institutions. Where we come from (rural areas), there are no real opportunities to do something else other than a school like, surfing, singing, soccer etc, to be successful. The only choice is education, then after passing matric we face these challenges
