When you want to visit Paris without all the annoying people around so you conquer France to do it.

German defeat in Russia only because of U.S. involvement in the war. Otherwise Russia would have been defeated. Massive arms and transportation aid from U.S. through Iran and Archangel. Additionally the U.S. opened second front in Africa then Europe itself. Then bombing campaign on German industry. Without U.S. involvement we would have video of him visiting Moscow.
He did consider that. His political credo in "Mein Kampf" was 'Never wage a war on two fronts !' Why did he abandon it and acted against his better knowledge ? - is the greatest question of all. Rudolf Hess knew teh answer but the British murdered him before he could reveal it and now with his documents classified until 2041 one can be absolutely sure that Hitler was cheated into a war on two fronts by the British...La perfide Albion , Napoleon would say.

Arturo Gatti Paris, It’s so different & crowded with newer buildings, fountains and other structures nowadays but you can find approximate locations based on these scenes.
I definitely recommend going to the top of the tower. It’s an incredible place. I stayed at the Shangri-La hotel. Beautiful view of the tower

I was in a wooded area in Holland and asked an old man about some mounds and holes. He was 10 year-old when there was a battle there in 1944. He said that the ammunition (shells) layed there for about 12 months and the kids climbed on the boxes.
Drove truck in London with a guy who as a 16 year old in 1946
Drove all over Europe collecting ordinance.
An American officer was taking out motors and privately shipping them back

@Joseph Swanson The Germans were still in a ww1 mindstate. Their biggest rival was France then, when they had beaten France so easily the world must have really felt under their feet.
On his way to Paris, Hitler stopped off in Ypres and visited the Menin Gate. It's not recorded what he thought of this monolithic memorial but obviously he was content with its intended purpose to leave it remain for prosperity. Other WW1 memorials in France and Belgium with an anti-German message were destroyed.
He was at ypres and his unit was destroyed, 600 survivors of 3000
For those wondering how much exactly was the 50 RM. During WW2 the “Reichsmark" was roughly 2.50RM to 1US$, so that's 1 US$ in 1940. One dollar in 1940 is worth $18.60 today. In other words, 1 RM would be worth $7.44 today. Thus, 50 RM would be 372$ in today's money.

"Hitler In Paris" was released in 1940 to raving reviews and was soon followed up by 1945's disappointing "Hitler in the Bunker".
The Führer may have been a bit crazy, but he certainly was no fool...He knew a lot about History, Architecture, Cathedrals, Monuments, Classic Music, Literature....and having been utterly poor in his youth, he never could afford a trip to Paris to behold its beauties. That's why he took the great risk of visiting Paris just a few days after the French Capitulation...he was more than eager to see with his own eyes everything he had read about the city during years.

If you look at Dietrich's supposed "orders" to do so, then also look at how many times Dietrich lied about many other things, it is very likely that he was never ordered to do anything of that sort. Also, there is no other physical or circumstantial evidence that shows Dietrich receiving that order. Dietrich exclaimed it was just a phone call, how convincing.
It is actually more likely that Dietrich if he actually did receive that order, was unable to carry it out because at that time France was seeing a huge revolt, partisans aplenty and the allies closing in. So it is likely that IF he did receive the orders' that he was unable to carry them out due to having his hands tied given the current circumstances.

And didn't Galland follow up by saying that after the war as he looked from his window at the unrecognizable wreckage of a German city that Hitler had been quite right?

Mark Felton: In between visiting the Paris Opera House and la Madeleine, Hitler bought a crepe and had a quick bathroom break.
It gives me goosebumps because where he is stood I've stood myself, I couldn't help but think what he felt as Europe was in his hands

I always thought he was just a failed artist with minimal cultural knowledge, but apparently he was a true man of culture. I wonder if he ever lamented how many historical buildings he's responsible for destroying, or his decision to refuse to surrender even when defeat was inevitable, which caused unnecessary destruction of German historical buildings. To think that a man with such admiration for art would order the destruction of Paris...
The destruction of german cities is a two sided coin. Don't forget that the big cities and their population were considered strategic targets by the allied air forces. Especially the Brits. Dresden wasn't burned to the ground because Hitler didn't surrender. It was however unnecessary. Just as destroying Paris would have been. There was no surrender. The ideology dictated victory or death long before the war.

This was very early in the morning in Paris, you can see the early morning sun reflected off the wall at 5:36 min. Fascinating footage, a moment in time.

What was so secret about it ? It was filmed and it’s been shown many times on tv documentaries. My late German Grandfather was one of the soldier’s marching in Paris.

I live in Southern France in the city of Toulouse. I was in a public school and 90% of the students was whites and 75% was pure Toulousians.
Paris is an exception because 50% of the migrant population live in Paris suburbs.
But in the rest of France especially in the West, whites are a big majority like in Poland or Hungary.

Really fascinating! This trip always piqued my curiosity and it’d be great if you could make a little compilation about other visits he made e.g. Rome, Florence, Prague and Brussels.
My wife and I went through Paris on a trip. I've always had a big interest in WW2 and several times we would be somewhere that I knew Hitler had been. I would tell her "you know, Hitler once stood exactly where you are standing". She was not amused.

5:59- Hitler actually brought Napoleon's remains back to France from Vienna as he was a great admirer of Napoleon; and Napoleon was apparently an admirer of Julius Caesar.
