      Have been a Chrome Industries guy for over a decade now. And, only ever owned one backpack until about 6 months go. They just last forever, and the old one is still going.

    I've got the day pack and the day pack 2 by aer, I think they are both awesome but the improvements on the second version are super awesome, especially the external water bottle pocket and the luggage pass through. Btw if you need a bit bigger bag the teck pack version 2 by aer is a best choice too

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven’t tried the daypack, but I can imagine it’s great in a lot of the same ways! Was so happy to see the v2 improvements didn’t take away from all that I loved in the original. Thanks for sharing!

  • @Mr1Musiclover
    @Mr1Musiclover 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have V1 and carry it daily. Love it. I dig the updates they did to V2 but it's missing the long bottom pocket in the 1st compartment. I use that for the book I'm reading at the moment

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still use both but can’t really picture what you mean with which pocket that changed. Both amazing bags though! The V1 was so good I probably wouldn’t recommend anyone replace it anyway even with the positive changes they made. Thanks for sharing your input!

    I've probably watched 15 other reviews on this bag, but your video is the only one I felt represented the bag the best. I love your chill attitude man! Also I love my Synapse 25, but there are a couple boxes it doesn't quite tick, such as standing on it's own and not having a laptop compartment. I usually lean it up against the wall at work and at home, but if I ever take it anywhere else, it's a pain relying on something for it to lean against, which isn't always an option. I bought their MacBook Air cache, but couldn't justify $50 just to have a solid place for the laptop without touching the bottom. (I found a deal on a new Bellroy sleeve and it does just fine) Also I like the dedicated internal water bottle pocket, but it definitely messes with the weight distribution and makes the bottom front part of the bag crumple in on itself, which probably leads to it not being to stand on it's own. Idk. I love the crap out of it, but it's just not quite the perfect end-all bag for me. The Tech Pack 2 is VERY close to being that, and your video made me inch that much closer to buying one. lol

    This is my favorite too! I have the tech pack 1 and not sure there was really much of a difference other than the laptop sleeve. I am dying to AER to make a camera bag!!! For now I carry my SONY A7SIII in a the Peak Design bag and use this tech pack when I'm not carrying my camera.

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree on the v1 vs v2, some nice updates but not worth upgrading if you already have the v1. Still gotta try the PD bag myself!

    Just got mine delivered. Loved it! Except the Laptop section is too tight because of the obstruction of the side handle. I love the side handle by the way, it's just not the best placement.

    I also have the Tech Pack 1 and have considered upgrading. The new version seems almost identical to the previous iteration so I’m admittedly not 100% convinced. Do you think it’s worth upgrading?

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m all about the changes that they decided to make, but I would probably recommend that you just stick to your v1. The v2 just adds a bit of refinement, but is largely the same and probably not worth the price tag to upgrade without needing to because of damage or something along those lines. 👍

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tech pack series would definitely be a good match for school, capacity is excellent without being too bulky and the organization is subtle but really useful. It’ll hold up well too, my original tech pack 1 is still being used daily by a friend after I got it in 2017/2018.

  • @pransis
    @pransis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So far this is my favorite among the EDC bags. I really love it. The only complaint I have is that the middle compartment is a bit cramped. A tech pouch will fit, but you will have to squeeze it in to fit it at the bottom, especially if your tech pouch is a bit bulky like the Peak Design Tech Pouch. Other than that, this bag is perfect.

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I get that. I love the compact shape this v2 has for its outer profile, but it does make it a tight squeeze for some things. Definitely a favorite of mine as well though!

      I actually have a link in the description directing to the aer website where you can purchase, I’m not sure if they sell elsewhere. Hopefully someone can advise here regarding the front nylon after using the Aer Tech 2 for a long run, does it crack and break or gets wrinkled in the long run?

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’ll show some slight wear after a few years, but it’s extremely minimal in my experience. This one is still in my rotation years later and the tech pack one is still in great shape being used by a friend of mine.

  • @ericbradner6986

    Do you think a mirrorless camera and a couple lenses (24-70 f2.8 size, roughly) could fit in the bottom of the main compartment, or would it be too tight?

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It definitely could! I use this with a small camera cube that holds 2 lenses and my a7iii pretty regularly. It’ll be a tight fit with a laptop and the larger lenses but you should be fine.

      It can definitely do the 16”MBP’s, 17 should be okay if it’s not overly large for its size, I know some gaming laptops can get pretty chunky.

    Can you fit a camera cube in one of the compartments?

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! It’s a bit snug with the split compartment style of this one but I’ve done it quite a few times. If you plan on always carrying a cube I might recommend one of their single compartment style of bags in its place.

    • @joshfenn

      Tough call! Most of the larger backpacks I’m more familiar with are more travel focused. The arcido faroe or the chrome bravo 3.0 I just reviewed are both quite large, I’d check those out! Chase reeves also has a ton of great reviews and I’m sure he’d have more to check out as well.
