I helped to maintain the Kimball pipe organ that Warners moved to the Western theatre from it's original location on Pico at Arlington. Harold Lloyd spoke before a screening of Safety Last in the early 1970's. Organist Gaylord Carter played a improvised score. The house was nearly full for the first time in years. When the organ was removed, I felt like I lost one of my best friends.
Good Lord! Where did you find this?! This is absolutely wonderful. Such an elegant premiere to a theatre that still has such class and grace. I was raised near Wilshire and Western and, though, not a grand area today, The Wiltern stands tall and proud. Thanks for posting. Angie.
